Sports Personality of the Year, will you be voting?

Should be interesting. I will be voting for Wiggo because I like his dry sense of humour, he won the Tour de France, which is a major, huge feat (especially for a Brit) and his gentlemanly conduct on the 'Tack-gate' stage, the French love him, then he goes and takes gold at the olympics and he has encouraged many youngsters to get on their bikes. DH and I think there should be a male and female category though.

Sarah Storey for me.

SledYuleCated · 16/12/2012 20:46

I reckon it'll be Wiggins, but I want it to be Ellie or Jess. Might have to vote for both of them. Genuinely can't decide.

I'm so impressed that I actually know who everyone is on it this year. Sport is absolutely not my area but 2012 was a hit extraordinary Xmas Grin

BettySuarez · 16/12/2012 20:47

Bradley Wiggins doesn't look like Bradley Wiggins. He looks like someone doing an impersonation of Bradley Wiggins.

I am confusing myself here Blush Grin

TandB · 16/12/2012 20:48

Ooh. I'm actually starting to think Katherine might actually get it.

I was sure it would be Wiggins but I'm hopeful now!

infin · 16/12/2012 20:56

Katherine would be such a deserving winner. What an amazing lady.

GreenyEyes · 16/12/2012 20:57

I think Wiggins has it, but I would love to see it go to Weir

Cozy9 · 16/12/2012 20:58

What are the numbers to vote?

GlaikitFizzogTheChristmasElf · 16/12/2012 20:58

I think they all deserve it. Call it a tie?

SESthebrave · 16/12/2012 21:02

It has to be Wiggo - his achievements this year surpass anyone else's and that says a lot when you look at the other contenders. Murray, Ennis, Farrah and Simmonds should be up there too.

I wonder who first came up with the idea for this annual event. It's something I look forward to every year. Did they fully think through the title though? It's not Sports Achievement of the Year but Sports Personality. Was there intended to be a distinction?

Cozy9 · 16/12/2012 21:03

It always used to be called Sports Review of the Year. That was before they made it into a massive arena sized event though.

GlaikitFizzogTheChristmasElf · 16/12/2012 21:03

They used to do the voting by post! Imagine of they insisted on that now!

LittleAbruzzenBearLovesYuleLog · 16/12/2012 21:04

Still Wiggo all the way for me, but what an amazing bunch of people for youngsters to look up to. On a side note, how attractive is Ben Ainslie!

Cozy9 - oh yes, I remember that now. Did they always have an award though and if so, was it always called Sports Personality?

LottieJenkins · 16/12/2012 21:09

Chelsea seem to have been airbrushed from the ceremony!! Xmas Hmm

Bakingnovice · 16/12/2012 21:11

What is Clare wearing??!!

All worthy winners. It's hard to choose.

TandB · 16/12/2012 21:12

I'm rather taken with Nicola Adams. Clearly not used to public speaking but giving it a great go and obviously enjoying herself.

What a good role model.

Bakingnovice · 16/12/2012 21:13

Nicola Adams or mo Farah for me.

dwagdays · 16/12/2012 21:16

Nicola Adams is superb and has prevailed despite so little support and massive injuries. She is fab.

GreenyEyes · 16/12/2012 21:17

Ha! Suck up the Jess Ennis love Kelly Holmes!

God I can't bear that woman (Kelly Holmes, not Ennis)

Bakingnovice · 16/12/2012 21:18

Jess looks amazing. What a lovely girl.

SledYuleCated · 16/12/2012 21:18

Oh gawd, I'd forgotten about Nicola. How the flippetyflip am I meant to choooooose?

TheMysteryCat · 16/12/2012 21:22

Sarah storey is incredible; two sports and eleven medals. Kg is also brilliant; how do you combine academic and sporting excellence? Amazing!

LittleAbruzzenBearLovesYuleLog · 16/12/2012 21:23

When can we vote though? It's a bit odd because it finishes at 10pm.

What a year - Jess for showing girls sport is beautiful and not something to be afraid of.
Sarah storey for inspiring all the kids at Hayfield primary by going into school before and after. You have inspired kids who's parents are Olympians.
Wiggo- a fantastic achievement.
Mo- with style award.
Ellie for inspiring a colleagues girl. She saw you win and now trains even harder.
Team award - joint award for Team GB and Para-olympics team.

LottieJenkins · 16/12/2012 21:27

Mo's stepdaughter seemed to be saying something to her Mum when he mentioned the twins............They should have played Werewolves of London for DW!!!!
