Should be interesting. I will be voting for Wiggo because I like his dry sense of humour, he won the Tour de France, which is a major, huge feat (especially for a Brit) and his gentlemanly conduct on the 'Tack-gate' stage, the French love him, then he goes and takes gold at the olympics and he has encouraged many youngsters to get on their bikes. DH and I think there should be a male and female category though.

I loved it, I was torn as to who I wanted to win, there were so many great athletes in the short list.

Being very shallow I want to know what dirt Emeli Sande has on someone high up, there are so many amazing singers out there why is she everywhere, she sang twice at both Olympic ceremonies and then again last night, she's a fine enough singer but surely we could have a bit of variety?

Nancy66 · 17/12/2012 09:25

I think Mo's wife and her kid may well have lost him a few votes - they don't come across well in interviews.

Can't warm to the wife at all. On the red carpet approach she was glued to his side, refused to move so the photographers could get a picture of Mo on his own and when the reporters asked questions she'd butt in and answer them.

MordionAgenos · 17/12/2012 09:27

@Eugenes Did he expect her to wear a sack? Hmm she w dressed a lot more demurely than some of the women there. She looked fabulous because she is fabulous - it wasn't the dress. Grin

It's impossible to imagine what a great achievement it was for Bradley to win it. There are very few people who could even just ride one stage of it, let alone every day for three weeks, AND win it!

And yet people do just that every year Wink.

I think Ellie Simmonds is incredible. What she has overcome to perform at that level is truly amazing and a huge achievement.

It makes no difference - it is all personal opinion so [shrug]

well done Wiggo - and for being funny, and thanking all the right people, and not saying 'you know' umpteen times.

if Andy Murray had won, would the real trophy have been in America as well? What a hilarious 30 seconds of farce, love it.

note to Jessica Ennis - lovely dress but heels that high make anyone walk like a duck. Next time choose something you can move in.

can somebody please feed the Duchess of Cambridge?

CinnabarRed · 17/12/2012 12:01

Love Wiggo.

Can't help feeling his missed a trick with his speech though. Immediately after the bit about the free bar paid for by the BBC and how he hoped everyone would join him for a drink, he should have turned to DofC and said "Not so much you though love"....

MordionAgenos · 17/12/2012 12:08

The best bit was him calling Sue Barker Susan. I reckon that's what won it for him. Grin

DoesntTurkeyNSproutSoupDragOn · 17/12/2012 12:34

Personally, I thought that made him look like a bit of a twat.

MordionAgenos · 17/12/2012 12:43

I suspect from your posts that you thought that before. Bias is a terrible thing. Grin

picketywick · 17/12/2012 13:27

Well, Ivy, even if you get to compete at an Olympics, you are a winner of a kind.

And all the top 10 will make loads of dosh, I presume.

picketywick · 17/12/2012 13:35

I thionk Wiggos outfit was smart; but he was wearing it tongue in cheek. A northern p+ss take.

Nancy66 · 17/12/2012 13:38

...he's not northern though.

Ponders · 17/12/2012 14:18

no, but he chooses to live in the N so he's an honorary northerner

chipstick10 · 17/12/2012 14:51

A few shallow observations. Wigs wife's eyelashes were a no no. Don't like mo's wife. She looks really difficult. She seems aggressive and pushy and I know it's awful but his daughter seems a bit of a bad mannered chid.
Thought kate looked good considering. Love Claire balding. I wouldn't like to get on the wrong side of wiggins.

Bakingnovice · 17/12/2012 17:21

Agree mo's wife is overbearing. She sulked when he won his second gold cos she wasn't allowed on the pitch and she stuck to him
Like a leech on the Rex carpet. He's so gentle and funny and wonder what he sees in her. Step daughter was brattish but very cute. Wiggos wife: omg. Totally overdone.

Jess looked wow! That dress looked great on her. Really really wanted her, Katherine or Ellie to win.

Bakingnovice · 17/12/2012 17:23

Red. Not Rex.

Also loved the awkward Murray moment!! We had belly laughs thanks to that.

ArielTheBahHumbugMermaid · 17/12/2012 17:25

Late to the party as usual...

I voted for Weir, not because I thought he deserved it over any of the others particularly but because I wanted him to do very well in the overall standings.

Which he did

we3kingsoforientRaahh · 17/12/2012 17:48

It's a shame the Paralympians didn't do

we3kingsoforientRaahh · 17/12/2012 17:49

better....pressed post too soonXmas Grin

but lovely news tha tSarah Storey is pg- so doubt she caresXmas Grin

amothersplaceisinthewrong · 17/12/2012 18:23

did any one notice that when Mo said about the birth of his twins that he now had "two beautiful daughters", brat child mouthed to her mother " it should be three".

And Kate looked lovely!

Nancy66 · 17/12/2012 18:25

amother - yes I did notice that. The thing is Gary Lineker asked him specifically about being dad to new twins, he wasn't deliberately excluding her.

ivykaty44 · 17/12/2012 18:25

And yet people do just that every year

No people don't cycle the tour, hard core cyclists try to cycle the tour and sometimes even they don't make it Wink

ArielTheBahHumbugMermaid · 17/12/2012 18:48

Quite harsh calling a little girl you don't even know "brat child" Hmm. If Mo has been Dad to her since she was very little, then I'm not surprised she was a little put out. She's a child.

FromEsme · 17/12/2012 18:50

God almighty, what is with the judgements on Mo's wife? Considering all you know about her is probably about 30 minutes total footage of her in highly-emotional and public situations, it seems a bit unfair to deem her "pushy" and "aggressive".

Where is the support for women on here sometimes, eh?
