Tim Minchin is to be Judas. Chris MOYLES is to be Herod (does he die? I do hope so) and Lord ALW, the grinning gargoyle himself, will be choosing Jesus every Saturday night on ITV.

NEWLY SKINNY DAWN FRENCH AND DANCE BOT JASON DONOVAN ARE JUDGING!

this Saturday 7.25

Who is in then?

hellsbells I was thinking that about Gethsemene. Got to have great range. Steve Balsamo anyone??

hellsbells76 · 02/07/2012 22:44

Oh he was marvellous. And Ted Neeley is still bashing out the high notes in his 60s, there's a fab video on YouTube of him singing Gethsemane in new york a few years back, the cast are watching him from the wings and they're in tears as he hits the high notes, it's lovely.

Um sorry, Ted Neely not doing it for me - compared to the film there is no passion there.

Looking forward to the show, though, am a musical addict.

The cave idea is genius Sue Grin

Interesting that Seamus is getting another go - that must mean either the Good Lord fancies his chances and reckons he's good or it's a cruel evil payback for his attitude on Joseph!

So if there are 9 contenders what are the odds of some of them being signed up as disciples when they don't make it as Jesus. I think they've been auditioning priests already but there are still a lot of male roles up for grabs I suspect...

IAmSherlocked · 03/07/2012 09:33

Um - I don't want to sound ageist or anything and am all in support of older women in the meeja etc etc but am I the only one who thinks Mel C is just a bit - well - old for Mary M?

I remember Glenn Carter and Steve Balsamo as Jesus, Renee Castle as Mary, Jerome Pradon as Judas - not to mention Ramon Tikaram in that part! Rik Mayall was surprisingly good - and menacing - as Herod, but it's hard to beat Alice Cooper's version. Sadly, he only ever recorded it AFAIK - would have loved to see him play the part on stage!

Shakey1500 · 03/07/2012 13:28

^The Steve Balsamo one^

RaahhfaNadalsmyToyboy · 03/07/2012 13:35

phew! Glad I saw this- I thought I had missed this. saw a brief ad for it the other day.

I will be disappointed if there are no multi-coloured loin cloths or 'life of brian' stylee exit song. I love Tim Minchin.Grin

Sparklingbrook · 03/07/2012 13:36

Hello! Can I join in? Can't wait.

droitwichmummy · 03/07/2012 13:47

Oooh nearly missed this ^^

Sparklingbrook · 03/07/2012 13:54

Did you get washed away last week?

Clawdy · 03/07/2012 16:37

hellsbells thanks for the Ted Neeley link, loved it and didn't know it existed.

SuePurblybilt · 03/07/2012 18:58

So excited

Was Seamus that bad then? Will we hate him? I've forgotten.

We stayed dry but I saw there were problems at a certain school. Is it ok now?

Sparklingbrook · 03/07/2012 20:37

They were sent home at 11.30am due to flooding at the Middle School. They went in as normal on Friday though.

ALittleFallOfRain · 03/07/2012 21:04

I'm in Smile.

(It's Scatter if any of the Strictly lot remember me, but in musical theatre guise).

I don't really know this musical, but I enjoyed all the others, so I'll give it a go. I like the missions...singing in front of their mums wearing only a loincloth, slapping each other during acting missions, snogging John Barrowman (ok, maybe not this time) etc.

Badvoc · 04/07/2012 18:11

I am so looking forward to this weekend...Wimbledon and finding a Jesus....simply marvellous :)

SuePurblybilt · 06/07/2012 17:34

I saw a clip of one of them singing some POP song in a POPPY way Hmm. Not even a Lord Toady cross-over. Ver' disappointed if that means the programme will all be warbling Boyzone and nasty shiny shirts in front of a frankly not very talented panel. I already have that pencilled in for Autumn (XF). This is supposed to be skipping round in loincloths and panstick and overacting

OP posts:
Badvoc · 06/07/2012 21:13

Hmmmm....loincloths....

SuePurblybilt · 07/07/2012 14:44

Are we all ready? Loaves and fishes and wine to hand?

OP posts:
Badvoc · 07/07/2012 16:42

What time is it on?
(excited)

IAmSherlocked · 07/07/2012 17:28

7.25

Am still sad no Graham - he made the previous programmes for me. Amanda Holden is just - meh.

NadiaPopov · 07/07/2012 17:33

The toad has a massive cock apparently a fantastic pre Raphaelite collection.

SuePurblybilt · 07/07/2012 17:48

Does he really? Goodness. Just imagine.

Actually, don't.
