Tim Minchin is to be Judas. Chris MOYLES is to be Herod (does he die? I do hope so) and Lord ALW, the grinning gargoyle himself, will be choosing Jesus every Saturday night on ITV.

NEWLY SKINNY DAWN FRENCH AND DANCE BOT JASON DONOVAN ARE JUDGING!

this Saturday 7.25

Who is in then?

Banderas plays for the other team, I learnt over the weekend. Same as Will Smith, Tom Cruise and John Travolta.
Allegedly.

He is damn pretty though, tis true.

LeB0F · 02/07/2012 10:54

Nah, I don't think so, surely not?

SuePurblybilt · 02/07/2012 10:59

No no no. I refuse to believe it of Antonio

John Travolta and Tom Cruise I can see. Maybe Will Smith (though think not)

But NIVVER Antonio.

Oh brilliant - can't wait to see how the eliminated finalists are removed from the studio each week (I'm envisaging they hand nails to Sir Toad, he nails them to a cross and they are lifted into the air whilst warbling 'The Last Supper' - remaining contestants hurl stones)

cormsilky · 02/07/2012 16:44

eww - all those bare men feet on that link
I thought Jesus wore sandals

KurriKurri · 02/07/2012 16:49

Oh so they've aleady picked the finalists? (catches up very slowly) what happened to the audition bit? Why are half the potential Jesuses (Jesii?) so old? Wasn't Seamus the arrogant up his own arse bloke from Joseph? (and surely if you can't be Joseph you can't aspire to Jesus - that's just Biblically wrong)

SecretPlansAndCleverTricks · 02/07/2012 16:53

I think Jesus was 33 at this point, so they're not that old, some are too young. Black Jesus would be way cool, but cheating a bit as he's already starred in The Lion King in the west end.

KurriKurri · 02/07/2012 16:58

Oh yes - some are far too young, good point.

It seems to be a thing now that they try to get some professional musical theatre artists in these shows - I guess they want some tried and tested people in there who can do the role even if they don't win the TV show. I imagine the problem for inexperienced unknowns is that they don't have the stamina of professionals when it comes to doing shows every day, and there's a chance they might not cope.

Acekicker · 02/07/2012 17:00

Yep Seamus was the one who ad libbed his exit song to 'I have beeeen proooomiiiiised a shoooooowwww of my ooooowwwwwwwwwwn'.

Is there going to be a deliciously cruel exit song on this one - do you think they might nail them to a cross in lieu of handing back Shoes/Pinny/Dreamcoat.

Am struggling to think what they could use as the exit song though - all the 'big songs' are Judas' ones mostly, definitely struggling to think of a big Jesus number. They could do 'Could we start again please' but that's a duet with Mary I think...

Tim Minchin is inspired casting as Judas - I think he'll be amazing.

VivaLeBeaver · 02/07/2012 17:03

I'm thinking the 44yo overweight cruise ship singer ain't going to get the part.

I'm on team Jeff.

VivaLeBeaver · 02/07/2012 17:05

There's not many of them are there? There were loads of Dorothys. Maybe its a shorter series as X Factor must be starting in the autumn.

SuePurblybilt · 02/07/2012 18:53

Tim Minchin has said he's been wanting to play Judas his whole life Grin. And I agree, Jesus don't get many songs.

I think Whiny Seamus, but it's early yet.

I didn't even think of the exit bit - that's a very good point. I'm going to go with the Hand Of God coming down OR the loser goes into a cave, a boulder is rolled behind him and when they roll it away - LO! - he is GORN. That would be brilliant.

OP posts:
VivaLeBeaver · 02/07/2012 18:54

The cave idea is utter genius. Grin

I bet some researcher sees this and nicks that idea now.

SuePurblybilt · 02/07/2012 18:57

It'll be on a TV liveblog and I will be BITTER.
I swear half the XF freds are filched in a similar fashion.

Do you think they'll make 'em all wear different colour nappies loincloths?

I love JCSS and have seen it three times but Moyles as Herod is channelling the film not the musical, can't see him doing a softshoe shuffle. Tim M...not sure. Did someone say Sporty Spice is Mary M? It all sounds....awful.

hellsbells76 · 02/07/2012 19:43

I also love it and already have my ticket for the O2 booked so I'll be watching this to make sure they pick someone of Ian Gillian calibre to justify the frankly INDECENT cost of the ticket. Jesus does have one big song - Gethsemane - that calls for some seriously impassioned rock god falsetto. Yay.

Glaikit · 02/07/2012 20:08

Hellsbells I have my tickets too for the sect!

I love tim minchin! And Christ moyles in an embarrassing crush way!

Glaikit · 02/07/2012 20:12

SECC and chris Blush

hellsbells76 · 02/07/2012 20:35

Minchin as Judas is INSPIRED. Can't wait.

SuePurblybilt · 02/07/2012 22:09

Sporty Spice has an ORRIBLE voice.
And Chris Moyles makes me stabby.

but they're not in the programme, are they? So I'll be OK.

Aiiiiiiiiiii don't know how to LURVE heeeeeem

KenDoddsDadsDog · 02/07/2012 22:14

Seamus was a pain in the hole IIRC. There must be more Jesus than that ?

LoveAndOtherIndoorSports · 02/07/2012 22:20

Sporty is far too shouty.

I'd make a fabulous mary m.

jimswifein1964 · 02/07/2012 22:25

I've set my phone alarm for Sat Grin

hellsbells76 · 02/07/2012 22:32

Sporty can't make a worse fist of IDKHTLH than I do in the shower most mornings. Moyles will only be in it for one song, thank fuck.

Shakey1500 · 02/07/2012 22:37

I am SO in Grin

Love it, love it, love it.

And I'm not bitter that I didn't get through the first round of the search for Nancy. No way. No I. No Siree Hmm
