Personally, I can't wait. At a complete loss since the end of Borgen. Smile

there is a bizarre mix of ewwwwww and laugh out loud - very scandi!
loving it so far Grin

smugmumofboys · 21/04/2012 23:03

So far, so good. Is porn star tache bloke some kind of social worker? He gives me the creeps.

Love Saga and Martin.

I need to know. Do they speak in Swedish to each other?

Anonymo · 21/04/2012 23:03

OK, so what language is everyone speaking in it? Just Swedish or Swedish and Danish - anyone?

Anonymo · 21/04/2012 23:04

Ha smug - thought I was alone in wondering ...

teejwood · 21/04/2012 23:05

i was wondering that too. assuming yes to make sense of all the "am i speaking slowly enough for you?" gags?

beanandspud · 21/04/2012 23:06

Apparently it's Swedish and Danish. DH speaks Swedish so is being incredibly smug at the bits he understands.

teejwood · 21/04/2012 23:06

poor shagbloke though. he pulls, he shags, he wakes up to find his date looking at autopsy (?sp - too much wine) photos.

teejwood · 21/04/2012 23:07

ohhh bean has he seen this already? is the denouement worth it??

MousyMouse · 21/04/2012 23:08

it's swedish and danish.
many people in the border region understand each other. how to tell them apart = danish sounds a little like they have a hot potatoe in their mouths, very soft consonants (rhode pronounced a bit like roar)

Anonymo · 21/04/2012 23:09

So which bits are Swedish and which bits Danish? When he's with her in Sweden Swedish, when he's with his family Danish but how about at the end when they were in Denmark (weren't they?) at the abatoir (sp?)

scummymummy · 21/04/2012 23:09

love it love it love it!

Superb to have v emotional, slapdash, people-skilled to the hilt man paired with direct, tactless, intellectual, dispassionate, socially clumsy to the point of disorder woman. And wtf is going on with the case? Chilling. Roll on next Saturday night!

teejwood · 21/04/2012 23:10

mousy - ah! so i assume the "fur" line was very funny in the source countries, iykwim?

beanandspud · 21/04/2012 23:12

Sorry teej, no he hasn't seen it. It was very good though, and nice to have a Saturday night tv that we both like.

I think a lot of the Scandic languages share some common words but aren't interchangeable iyswim.

teejwood · 21/04/2012 23:14

agree bean - i have converted dp to scandicrime, but the bugger still sneaks off to catch match of the day at 10:30. still, gives me an excuse to rewatch the ending on iplayer Grin

MousyMouse · 21/04/2012 23:15

anonymo the swedish persons spoke swedish the danish ones danish. if you live close to a language boarder this is normal, I suppose. works for simiar langages anyway (german/dutch, portuguese/spanish, slovene/czech).

Yama · 21/04/2012 23:17

I caught this by accident.

The last thing I caught by accident was Twin Peaks in 1989 or something.

I loved it. I'm guessing 70's porn guy and his sister are integral to the plot. What about heart transplant man and his horrible wife? What's going on there then?

teejwood · 21/04/2012 23:22

yama dp and i were wondering if heart guy and his wife were also set up to be one of the lessons? that the protagonist also killed the young man, knowing he was a donor and a match and that goran would be en route as a recipient and that his wife would do anything to make the transplant happen. in fact given who played the dad, we wondered if it was actually his real dad - or someone more central to the plot.
have to say, that "you can't take my son" made my blood run cold Sad

scummymummy · 21/04/2012 23:23

Good question, yama. How are they connected to the other stuff going on, I wonder?

teejwood · 21/04/2012 23:25

so: lesson 1 was we are not all equal under the law.
lesson 2 is we don't care about people who are invisible in society?

scummymummy · 21/04/2012 23:26

OMG, vaughn = killer again, teej?! Never thought of that! (ponders deeply)

scummymummy · 21/04/2012 23:27

So killing powerful people to get the deaths of non powerful people investigated?

teejwood · 21/04/2012 23:29

sorry just to finish off the point about goran the heart guy - maybe that lesson is something to do with the value of a human life? the hospital got a new scanner and the rich old man got a chance of life (albeit one that did not work out)
the poorer young man was removed from his grieving parent at the behest of a rich woman working every legal nuance over human feelings.

MousyMouse · 21/04/2012 23:29

vaugn/fathet reminded me of data from star treck.

teejwood · 21/04/2012 23:31

scummy no i think the killer sees themselves as a force for change, reflecting society's misdemeanours (sp too much wine!) in his crimes. it has been planned for such a long time...

Yama · 21/04/2012 23:32

Yes, Teej 'you can't take my son' had me on his side too and I'm pro organ donation. I guess I was suitably manipulated. Love it.
