I am so bloody excited. I have wiped the sky+ box so that I can store the episodes. I can't wait to see brienne and melissandre.

And robb with his kit off.

Or jon snow.

I was gonna start this thread....silly excited

OracleInaCoracle · 02/04/2012 11:42

has anyone else read the books?

the reviews are promising, apparently it starts off stronger than S1.

OP posts:
BusinessTrills · 02/04/2012 11:51

Please can we have just one GoT thread? I don't mind which.

other thread.

Unless we have one for people who have read the books and one for people who have not.

TheCunningStunt · 02/04/2012 11:52

I have when books. And I've tried. I found the names confusing tbh. Lots of them etc. shall try again

OracleInaCoracle · 02/04/2012 11:53

yep, shall we make this one the "read the books" thread?

OP posts:
MothershipG · 02/04/2012 12:05

If this is the 'read the books thread' I'm in!

I've just finished A Feast for Crows and I'm bereft, I need A Dance with Dragons now, I don't want to read anything else, ever. I'm so hooked on these stories and the characters that I don't want them to end. Mr Martin needs to write more and faster.

Interestingly I think that on the tv all the characters are older in than the books, which I think was a sensible decision or it could be a bit weird.

aliciaflorrick · 02/04/2012 12:08

Oh God I am so excited. I've read the books and loved them, I need book 6 now, I'm even considering reading them all again because they're just so brilliant.

Jon Snow, Jaime Lannister - I'm obviously watching for the eye candy, but I can't wait to meet Brienne.

GhastlyBespoke · 02/04/2012 12:14

Hang on just one minute. Shock

Tonight??! Is it? I haven't seen anything anywhere.
What time? I'm not even in until Thursday so I've got to wait 3 days to see it.

VivaLeBeaver · 02/04/2012 12:21

9pm, sky atlantic

GhastlyBespoke · 02/04/2012 12:22

Thanks Beaver Smile

Setting up sky+ now.

OracleInaCoracle · 02/04/2012 12:26

Mothership, agree wrt the age of the characters. I can't get my head around dany being only 14 in the books! And yes, he needs to write faster. I am terrified that he will die before writing the last two books!

Alicia, I love robb! Not sure about natalie dormer as marjory. She is too sexy. I see her as a natalie portman type.

Ghastly, sky atlantic,m 9pm.

LauraShigihara · 02/04/2012 12:26

I've read the first two books so I'm up to date with this series and don't mind spoilers or comparisons, so I think I fit the criteria for this thread Grin

No kidding, I am so excited, I woke up extra-early and had a bit of a squeal that Today had arrived. DH has no interest (he hates fantasy worlds) so I am all alone in the house with my devotion.

BusinessTrills · 02/04/2012 12:27

On TV it's 18ih years since the war instead of 15ish - there are laws about what you could film at 14 yr old Danaerys doing, for a start, and it feels more plausible to us to have an 18 yr old Robb leading an army rather than a 15 yr old boy.

Considering that they are asking Sansa if she has bled yet it does seem a bit unlikely that Viserys would have waited until his sister was 18 before selling her off - maybe he just didn't have very good offers til now?

OracleInaCoracle · 02/04/2012 12:32

Laura, I did too. I have made my phone calls so woe betide anyone who interrupts me tonight.

Trill, good point wrt viserys. Although in one of the books illyro says that he stopped him sneaking into dany's room several times. So maybe he still held out hope that he and dany would continue the tradition and keep the bloodlines pure

Ephiny · 02/04/2012 12:37

Yes I think it was the right decision to make the young characters especially a few years older. Also reduces the problem of them 'growing up' and changing too much between series - though that could still be an issue for the younger ones, Bran and Arya for example.

VivaLeBeaver · 02/04/2012 12:39

I stopped the Vigrin TV and got Sky installed purely for this last month.

I've read all the books and now watched all the 1st series on DVD.

Guess who stupidly said she'd work this evening? Grrrrr.

Sky+ is all set though.

LauraShigihara · 02/04/2012 12:46

The television versions couldn't be any younger though, could they? I read somewhere that GRRM said that he regretted making his characters so young in the books, which would make sense.

I shall have to dust off my GoT name!

I think they will have trouble with bran aging though.

I'm dreading seeing theon's story though. I love alfie allen and hope that he brings the pathos the storyline.
