I thought it might be an idea to start a new thread for The Reichenbach Fall since The Hounds got its thread up to over 200 pages since last Sunday!

Non-spoilery vague preview description: "Sherlock and John lock horns with their old enemy in one final problem that tests loyalty and courage to their very limits. Sherlock must fight for his reputation, his sanity and his life. But is he all he claims to be?"

BBC link for The Reichenbach Fall

Take note of the later start time of 9pm. Get your deerstalkers and spiffy pocket magnifiers ready!

A colleague told me this morning that all the episodes are being repeated on BBC3 next week. I think she was included series 1 in that.

LetUsPrey · 20/01/2012 12:52

including not included.

Note to self: learn to proof-read.

LineRunner · 20/01/2012 12:54

That will be good. I prefer watching actual telly to watching DVDs for some reason.

TheRhubarb · 20/01/2012 12:58

The Jeremy Brett series has been repeated for a while now. Always good to watch those ones as they have pretty much used the books as scripts. Brett is brilliant but again, I ain't keen on Watson's portrayal.

CaveMum · 20/01/2012 13:41

If you order series 2, or the box set, on DVD/Blu-Ray by the end of today you should have it on Monday (day of release). I've ordered the Blu-Ray box set Grin. Hoping for lots of extras!

CaveMum · 20/01/2012 15:05

Whilst BC himself is not on Twitter, his (I presume) "team" are, tweeting as "Cumberbatchweb". They appear to be genuine, link to his website and everything.

CaveMum · 20/01/2012 15:23

Apologies, it is not an official website.

TheRhubarb · 20/01/2012 15:32

I do think it's disgusting when people do fake Twitter accounts - don't you?

LeBOF · 20/01/2012 15:33
CaveMum · 20/01/2012 15:45

They freely admit to not being BC himself, I was just too daft to notice not paying attention Grin

Anyway, as this thread is in danger of becoming more of a "Benedict Cumberbatch" thread than a "Sherlock" thread, I've started a sseparate thread in Sleb Twaddle for those that want to contribute/drool Wink

I still think it's completely out of order to parade yourself as a celebrity on Twitter. Tut. The things people do for their 5 mins of fame.

SeaShellsOnTheSeaShore · 20/01/2012 15:49
Grin

I'm still waiting for my amazon delivery of books-can't wait!

I also watched it again last night, and nope, still at a loss how he did it. There are lots of clever clues and references, but I didnt miss shot of a crash mat or a parachute flying out from under his coat Confused

I think either they have already filmed alot of series 3 and it will be released for Christmas, or we will be waiting at least 18mths. BC is seriously hot property ATM and Martin freeman will be tied up with the hobbit for ever!

OnlyANinja · 20/01/2012 15:50

You know, I was wondering if TheRhubarb was THE Rhubarb, or someone else who thought that "The" was a good prefix to a name...

SeaShellsOnTheSeaShore · 20/01/2012 15:50

Desperados, aren't they! Oh well, someone always finds them or in the end Rhubarb.

Fiderer · 20/01/2012 15:55

Shocking, Rhubarb, tut, sigh Grin

I'm still wondering what clue we missed.

TheRhubarb · 20/01/2012 15:57

There's always rhubarb in the end. Utter rhubarb. Whether or not it's THE Rhubarb or some loser parading as her only time will tell.......

mind you, why would anyone parade as someone nobody knows? Confused

TheRhubarb · 20/01/2012 16:09

Just thought - that handshake between Moriarty and Sherlock?
And I can't find a youtube clip of when Holmes looks back at Moriarty's body whilst talking to Watson, is there anything there? Any clue?

I wondered about that handshake before though, I have a feeling it's significant.

LetUsPrey · 20/01/2012 16:15

I wondered about the handshake too. I even noted it down last night when I was watching it [proud].

See you on the other thread in a mo CaveMum.

Surya · 20/01/2012 16:16

Here is DH?s theory (the man who married me mostly because I knit him a Tom Baker style Doctor Who scarf:

?See, Moriarty did something to make the kids think that Sherlock had been their kidnapper. And Sherlock didn?t want Watson to get any closer when he was on the roof. Why, why?

And, and Moffat and Gatiss did this other thing where someone seemed to die and then didn?t. The explanation is: the Teselecta! The body they burned on the boat wasn?t Sherlock at all!?

s3.amazonaws.com/data.tumblr.com/tumblr_lxy5rrTlMJ1qeflw2o1_1280.png

I think he might have got a tad confused about the last bit.

(For those less immersed in Doctor Who-dom than our household, the Teselecta is the shape-changing android from the Dr Who's 'Let's Kill Hitler', which Matt Smith's Doctor uses to fake his own death).

Lexilicious · 20/01/2012 16:21

rhubarb (the or not the) haven't you got iplayer to rewatch it in lingering slow motion whenever BC is in close up that's what I'll be doing after ds in bed tonight while DH is still out at the pub after work.

I may even watch naked, in just a sheet, idly strumming a violin. As an homage of course.

handshakes are likely to be important yes. In fact 'handshake' is also an IT security term for trusted links between networked systems (or something). Will ask DH.

SeaShellsOnTheSeaShore · 20/01/2012 16:22

I was wondering if the "unlike Sherlock" thing he does is cry when on the phone to Watson-if he had a plan, he wouldn't cry? So was it a double paid by Mycroft to die

Nice try at the Dr Who hijack Grin Grin

TheRhubarb · 20/01/2012 16:24

Yeah see, you lost me with the body burning thing, I was wondering which episode that was in then!

Why is everyone leaving this thread? I thought I had Sherlock friends and now they are all deserting me to drool over Benny Boy. Sad

HE ISN'T REAL YOU KNOW

He can't be, he's an actor. You'd grow to hate him. He'd spend all day acting out sex scenes with beautiful women and you'd be dead jealous, going through his text messages and spying on him. It wouldn't work out. He'd compare you to all the beauties he's shagged. He probably snores and farts like a trooper.

Now GET BACK HERE AT ONCE!

Surya - the disguise thing is bothering me. Holmes wore a disguise in both The Final Problem and The Empty House stories. He was renowned for his brilliant disguises, even fooling Watson. There has to be a disguise in this somewhere.

Oh look, a gratutitous mention of my blog

Fiderer · 20/01/2012 16:25

Then again, we may not have missed anything. SM said he'd been online and there was one clue people hadn't seen, something which was out of character for SH. He may not have been on MN Wink

So far we have (please correct/add):

sitting in the lab/the ball
asking Molly for help
talking to not texting Watson
throwing away his phone
handshake with Moriarty
hands behind his back on the roof (was that out of character? just occurred to me it was shown v clearly as if significant)

Can't think what happened earlier which was out of character. Except that I found it odd that he even tolerated the publicity with the cases he solved. I know the whole media story was important but can't see him agreeing to do the photo-shoots of The Hero and The Rescued with gifts being presented.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 20/01/2012 16:30

Just marking my place. I need to watch this again and then join in with the theories.

I really hope they have already filmed them, otherwise it is going to aaaages due to Hobbit etc.
