His wife heard the gossip about Lady Mary and the dead Turkish guy, and is threatening to ruin the family and Anna by going to the Press. She is blackmailing Bates into staying married now that his mother has left him a few bob.

Thank goodness for some decent TV viewing again. That's one of the few good things about winter - improved TV.

Very weird - lady mary w/o the nastiness...passing out cuddly toys????

PennyFothaguy · 18/09/2011 22:49

you can NOT answer the phone you know

LeBOF · 18/09/2011 22:54

I even felt a bit sorry for Scheming Thomas.

senua · 18/09/2011 22:55

Was it extra-long because it was the first one of the series? I can't be doing with giving over an hour and a half of my Sunday evening on a regular basis.

missmogwi · 18/09/2011 22:59

Yeah I felt sorry for Thomas too, and the other lad who was given the White feather.

Suppose they couldn't win, sign up and face the horrors of war, don't sign up and labelled a coward.
