Promising start to the series last night - just as The Guardian promised, Prime Suspect meets State of Play with a bit of Wallander (i.e. Scandinavian and with subtitles). Really moving scene where the couple whose daughter's body had been found then tried to explain it to their younger children.

Anyone else see it?

Am loving this and totally addicted!
Have just caught up on iplayer and watched last nights episodes but am a bit lost.
I might rewatch without WineGrin
Am I the only one who has a strong feeling that Pernille is involved ? Cant put my finger on why though!

cornerstone75 · 13/03/2011 13:10

Oh I'm always bloody late! Grin

Was blown away by last night's episode, nearly fell off the couch when Holck brained Lund and tied her up. Also fell in love with Meyer rather a lot when he finally arrived, and also when he was moodily having a fag against his car after (sigh)

Didn't see the Amir thing coming at all, and the video message from Nanna was heartbreaking, the first time we heard her voice as well. Pernille's breakdown with the guy from Brookside was also sad, and now Vagn may be involved the tights incident is even more vom-inducing.

I didn't even realise the cabbie was Leon (d'oh) but yes, how shifty that he came forward to say he'd had Nanna in his cab but to fail to mention he knew her. Isn't it often the case that killers approach the police/hang around crime scenes?

How old is Vagn do we think? He also looks abit young to have been responsible for the murder 15 years ago, but maybe not, I'm crap at guessing ages!!

I haven't a clue who dunnit now, I am just loving how it gets better and better each week. And that yes, we finally know who got those disgusting boots!

Oh and wigwam and teej I so thought of you both when Bengt was in his pants asking Lund to "come to bed"

Although I loathe Brix, I liked the line about "informing the UN and Nato"....made all the sweeter by the fact that at the end of ep 16 he was closing the water works down after all Grin

I know, cornerstone. Lucky Lund!

muminlondon · 13/03/2011 14:18

What did he say to Lund? 'I don't know you very well but I can see when you're thinking ... ' I'm nervous about how this case and the shooting investigation will affect him.

And whether Troels wins the election. If Leon the stranger turns out to be a psycho killer with no political connection, a lot of people's careers will have been damaged for no reason - is this partly Lund's fault?

OP posts:
atswimtwolengths · 13/03/2011 14:45

Don't you think this series is partly anti-government sleaze, though, so to NOT have a political figure responsible would go against the purpose of it?

We've had the expenses sleaze (in the series - there was talk before about people making claims, also of course the cover-up of the 5,000 Kroner per month) and then the sleaze to do with them bringing girls back to the government flat.

Troels is supposed to be anti-sleaze, isn't he? That's how he comes across to me. Very straight down the line. If Troels is guilty, then surely the message will be, you can never, ever trust a politician? I'm not sure they'd want to give that message.

Similarly, if it's the Turkish guy who's killed Nanna, then the message would be 'Don't trust these immigrants, with their marriages of convenience' and I don't think the programme makers want to give out that messages. Also with Rami - do they want to say that those who help immigrants in trouble are troublesome themselves?

atswimtwolengths · 13/03/2011 14:46

But muminlondon it's not Lund's fault that Nanna was brutally attacked in a government flat!

InmyheadIminParis · 13/03/2011 15:35

Can't bear that there are only 4 more episodes to go.

I'm still convinced that the Latvia trip's going to come up again - we don't know yet how far Bremer's implicated.

Anyone else trying to stop themselves thinking about Troels and Lund getting together in the end?

atswimtwolengths · 13/03/2011 16:07

Oh yes, me too, Inmyhead! It's not exactly a sentimental drama, is it, but I would like to see an exchange of meaningful glances!

The Latvian trip HAS to come up! I hadn't thought of Nanna going to Latvia, as someone had suggested. I thought it was going to be a seedy old man type of trip, to be honest. I'm amazed that Lund hasn't asked for a list of the people who were on the trip. Will she now forget the itinerary that she was asking the greasy one for?

Actually, I've been wondering why he attacked her and was prepared to kill her. It's since she asked him for the itinerary (ok and she found the car, too, but not sure he knew she'd found that.)

MadAsASnakeNana · 13/03/2011 16:18

Anyone got any ideas who the "Deep Throat" character is - the one who left the vidoe tape outside Lund's flat? Racked my brains, can't think of one.

I've set up a new thread for this here because we're nearly at the 1,000 mark!

Thanks so much to muminlondon for starting this!

thebestofyou · 13/03/2011 16:29

Just re watching !Grin
Could Nannas death be related to all 'the bad things' Theis has admitted to doing ie revenge on him ??? but by whom??? aaargh its driving me a bit mad atm !

muminlondon · 13/03/2011 16:37

atswim you're right, she was just following up leads. But if it's a serial killer, she could have followed it up so much earlier. I want her to have been at least half right about all of ithe suspects so far and it's a bit dissatisfying that evidence such as the letters from Amir were overlooked.

muminlondon · 13/03/2011 16:40

Thanks atswim, will go over there now!

KnitterNotTwitter · 13/03/2011 16:40

oooh - just wanted the last two episodes on iPlayer so now I can rejoin the board...

My theory on the necklace is that Nanna was held in the same location that Mette (15ys ago girl) was held and she found the necklace there and held onto it as she knew it was important.

atswimtwolengths · 13/03/2011 16:41

Well my theory is that she was held in her father's garage, so that wouldn't help. Coming over to the other thread, Knitter?

Craftoid · 13/03/2011 18:58

Had to avoid TK & MN this week to get on with my life, but am back & very impressed by the forensic level of theorising.
I want to just flag up one thing that's bugging me: where does the business with the bedsores & the concrete floor fit in? As I understand it, Nanna was held somewhere after the assault & rape at the flat but before then being driven to the woods etc. My gut feeling is that it's at Theis's house - I bet there's a creepy basement with concrete floor.
Still dunno who - would be boring if it was Vagn, but I also think there's more to Amir's dad's story.

I did feel sorry for Lund's mum when she was driven out of her flat, but couldn't even take her car!

DH reckons that the writers are doing a 'Lost' & they're making it up as they go along.

Wolfgirl · 13/03/2011 19:09

Just joing the thread, after dedicating more than a few days in catch up to this drama! Totally absorbing and addictive.

craftoid - that is what my DH aluded to, Lost. He wants to watch it and has totally missed out, so Im to watch it all again. No problem as it will put into persepective and provide more detail... I've been watching back to back episodes and there are a few chances I nodded off a few times Grin

When is the next episode due, pleas? anyone???

Wolfgirl · 13/03/2011 19:44

....and I don't think anyone has talked about Lund's jumper! Here, para from The Guardian...

""The first images I got in my head were based on cliches about female detectives ? We have images of a woman in a suit, or a woman in a man's world," said Gråbøl, who decided to play Lund as neither.

Instead Lund comes clothed in a distinctly Scandinavian handknitted jumper, fast becoming a must-have item for fans of the show. "Everybody wanted that sweater [in Denmark]. The company in the Faroe Islands couldn't keep up," said Gråbøl"

And quite right too.... I want one, and I want it NOWWWWWWWWWWWW!!! Grin

Finbar · 13/03/2011 20:20

Just catching up now and realising how much I missed through nodding off intermittently in the second episode last night!!

BUT I can say:
I was sorely disappointed with Bengt
And the taxi guy link was annoying!
Am more confused than before, but am liking that passport from LAtvian trip theory

Habbibu · 13/03/2011 20:29

Come to the new thread!

stressymum73 · 14/03/2011 14:23

Wolfgirl, I wanted one NOW too until I found out how much it costs! Here is the link if you should have ?280 to spare... Envy
