Promising start to the series last night - just as The Guardian promised, Prime Suspect meets State of Play with a bit of Wallander (i.e. Scandinavian and with subtitles). Really moving scene where the couple whose daughter's body had been found then tried to explain it to their younger children.

Anyone else see it?

Oh wigwam I think you are a GENIUS!

Ummm oh no actually because Rie's dad is leader of a major political party.

Fivecentsplease · 13/03/2011 00:12

Yep guess so, and the Nanna was a prostitute one too.

Atswim - knew there was a catch somewhere! Doh!

teej · 13/03/2011 00:16

proles maybe nanna called v as she couldn't get a lift? or maybe leon called v to say oh i just picked up theis' girl and she's heading off to the train station....

teej · 13/03/2011 00:17

or maybe v followed them when he saw the backpack?
have to say she was very lightly packed for running away. i'd have had a lot more than that!

wigwam1973 · 13/03/2011 00:17

Actually, one last thing before I go. If Leon had worked for Theis in the past, wouldn't Nanna have recognized him?

atswimtwolengths · 13/03/2011 00:18

I now think that my husband Troels is the man.

Hate to say it and I'll stick by him, but I do.

I think there's going to be a huge election victory in his favour and then Lund will come up on stage and arrest him. The entire town will be in uproar, with no political leadership.

If you think about it, the timings are too close.

1 Nanna gets the keys from the greasy one.
2 She's dropped off at the flats. And no, that taxi driver didn't kill her, he's a red herring.
3 Troels was there at about 11.30, so he would have been there when she arrived.
4 It's too far fetched to expect him to leave, then Nanna and a killer to arrive at the same time. Unless of course it's the greasy one, and he went to the airport (very clean) to 'wait' so that he had an alibi. In which case how will we ever know as the only two there are dead.
5 I think Troels kills her (but for the life of me can't work out why) and gets Morten to dispose of the body. Morten has always done his dirty work for him. But now, Morten is pissed off with Troels, so is more likely to break.

That's as far as I've got. My brain is really, really aching.

teej · 13/03/2011 00:19

anyone else cheer when lund got her badge back? Grin

atswimtwolengths · 13/03/2011 00:21

But if Leon is innocent, then maybe Nanna did recognise him. She wouldn't have to tell him anything about where she was going, would she?

Another alternative is that Leon could be trying to get in with the Turkish man (Nanna's boyfriend's dad) and told him that Nanna was planning to leave with his son. The arranged marriage would obviously be off and I assume a lose of face would ensue.

teej · 13/03/2011 00:22

atswim i think our boy is safe - he seemed v sincere when he said something along the lines of "did i look like a leader when you found me?"

there will be fallout for troels but i don't think in terms of the murder...

atswimtwolengths · 13/03/2011 00:22

Yes, me, teej. But that boss is very weird. Like an alien. Or someone who never sees daylight.

Mind you, none of them do! Without her torch, Lund would be useless!

By the way is there anyone else who shrieks "Turn on the light!"?

atswimtwolengths · 13/03/2011 00:23

Yes, but that could be read two ways, couldn't it? If his hands were covered in blood, he wouldn't look much like a leader, either!

atswimtwolengths · 13/03/2011 00:23

I felt sorry for Rie, actually. She looked really hurt.

atswim the incident board can't cope with vampire bosses too - not enough room!
i felt sorry for rie too, esp after she was dumped second time around (door closing on rie and morten, troels adopting an "i can do it myself" attitude

teej · 13/03/2011 00:29

proles a reference to the fact we're coming to the end of the case - literally nearing the end of the tunnel and can start to see daylight so everyone can move on?

proles and hurrah for that (the case kicking off again)- at least we have another two weeks

right am off to give my little grey cells a rest - night! x

atswimtwolengths · 13/03/2011 00:35

Right, I am going to bed, but I know I won't sleep. Feel like taking my clipboard and a pack of index cards to bed with me, along with a map of Copenhagen's waterways!

Just wanted to say how fantastic it's been sharing this experience with you all!

Margles · 13/03/2011 05:19

Yes! Maybe Holck wouldn't have been killed if she'd bothered to do so sooner! We told her to but she wouldn't listen.

Margles · 13/03/2011 05:29

I got lost - Nanna was running away with Amir - so when were they seen at Central Station by the someone in the red Birk Larsen van? Why didn't they just catch the train there and then to Malmo - and avoid getting killed......oops, no story then.

TooTiredtoGoogle · 13/03/2011 07:55

Does anyone else think there's a link between two arranged marriages? - That Amir was arranged to be married to the girl who ran away to teacher's flat?
Haven't thought through a theory yet, but thought I'd toss it our to you lot to see what you thought.

Love the character development - Nanna goes from being innocent girl, to one who has affair with married man and goes off rails, and now we thikn of her as innocent girl again running away with childhood sweetheart like her parents.
Also, love the way that Lund and Meyer's relationship has developed.

Fivecentsplease · 13/03/2011 08:28

Margles - you're up at 05.19? This must be the most active thread ever, with only 4 hours of rest!

I agree with you though - I can't get the journey from party to death sorted. Is this right? - She leaves the party by bike, with her bag and her library books (still think that's odd, given she is running away). She realises that she didn't have her passport so cabs to city hall, and then to the flat?
That can't be right, as Amir said someone saw them leaving, presumably from their house. So in fact, did she cycle home, meet Amir, pick up bag, then realise she needed her passport, then go to Ramas with the books, dump bike, as the passport thing has delayed her (why do the books then?) and get a cab to hurry up?

I suppose the bag was already at the station waiting for her, so the parents wouldn't spot it. But why all new stuff?

Also, the taxi driver came forward to police with the info. Is everyone sure he is the same person as leon?

Hmm. One last mystery- Nanna is wearing jeans, so why in the woods was she wearing a long slip. I thought at one point the girl in the woods was the earlier missing girl.
Confused

wigwam1973 · 13/03/2011 08:28

Morning all. Bleary eyed this morning despite two cups of tea. Late night for me and then couldn't sleep as all this very fresh in my mind.

I kept thinking about this (following on from atswim's summary):

a) Nanna enters flat at 11 ish (didn't she leave the party at 10.30 and then drop off her books at Rama's?) Btw, still don't know why she couldn't have done that earlier in the day. Confused

b) Now, can't remember. Isn't Troels meant to leave at 11pm after having downed a bottle of something strong? Wouldn't it be odd if Nanna came in and he immediately raped her (even after all the drinking) unless he had had affair with her previously which turned sour, a bit like with Shagabout.

So, I'm thinking that Troels stumbles off in taxi (even possibly the taxi that Nanna arrives in) and someone (Vagn?) who has been following her forces his way into flat and rapes her.

Then she gets drugged with the ether, bunged in the back of the Birk Larsen van and driven to either a) Birk Larsen warehouse where Rama was beaten up b) Theis's new house c) the garage/storeroom bit under Theis/Pernille's flat.

But, not sure how this links with Bremmer/setting Troels up to take blame.

And one other thing that I can't get my head around. What is the significance of Troel's saying he got the lift to the flat that night, and Lund confirming that it was out of action? Just an indication that he's a very capable liar or something else???
