Promising start to the series last night - just as The Guardian promised, Prime Suspect meets State of Play with a bit of Wallander (i.e. Scandinavian and with subtitles). Really moving scene where the couple whose daughter's body had been found then tried to explain it to their younger children.

Anyone else see it?

Not sure. Looked a bit like an NCP actually, but I'm guessing Holck's gaff.

teej no I missed that -a good thing, possibly, as the O word (obsession) is being aired in our household. I do wash up to the Wallander theme.....Blush.

muminlondon · 09/03/2011 23:05

UpSince - thanks for that clip (2 pages back?!). Thought I saw the dodgy Dessau too.. And was meaning to ask if there was any more good telly from Denmark to come. No sign of a jumper - the scene with vest top looks very Spiral (as fivecents pointed out, that'll be the summer wardrobe).

Now I've got that song 'Quiet night' back in my head five cents. Looked for ages on iTunes and could never find it.

You can get a the killing " pass" on iplayer to watch ep1 I was told on twitter.

on twitter you can also follow Sarah Lund who is v funny

Blackduck · 10/03/2011 07:01

teej - I watched the Scadinavian (can't spell) crime thing - I am a BIG fan and luckily my dad is too so I am reading/have read my way through loads of them. Don't do to many close together or you will get very depressed :)
My question - I got the impression that having dug the gun out of the glove compartment that it wasn't loaded (or was that just me??)
If it was an Agatha story it would be the east likely person.....so whose that?

Blackduck · 10/03/2011 08:11

God that should have been 'least likely person... so who's that?' I am not illerate, honest!! Just tired, and churning this all over in my head...

cornerstone75 · 10/03/2011 08:55

It is early, Blackduck ! Smile

Yes I think the gun wasn't loaded too....my impression was that Holck was lurking while Lund discovered the car (He said he was going back inside for something didn't he?) and he took her keys and phone and (possibly?) messed with the gun. I guess the glovebox is an obvious place to keep a gun. If you're poh-lice obvs.

Just to clarify (as I am taking this far too seriously) I don't think Charlotte is involved, I just think she has more information which she is scared/ or just wants to protect Nanna, by not sharing.

Also re: the video card, my point is she will have left it herself as a clue, if not it can't have been dropped accidentally as you would expect the killer to have meticulously disposed of her stuff...eg, where are her clothes? The zip-through found in the lock-up wasn't hers, it just looked like one she had.
Ergo, if she didn't leave it, the killer (s) did on purpose. But I don't think so, as I think the flat was meant to be the first crime scene that was found, hence helping to set up Troels.

I can't believe there is another 6 hours of this to go! Will Lund be held hostage by Holck?? Will Meyer work out where she is in time?? As she did her usual trick of working something out all on her own and going off to investigate it without saying where she's headed.

Must. Stop. Obsessing... Blush

Blackduck · 10/03/2011 09:16

Meyer knew she was going to see Holck - hence his 'oh my god' moment when he realised he had read the list wrong and they had gone after the wrong white car owner...
Video card - hum - not sure on that myself. She had very little on, where could she have hidden it if she was going to drop it?
I do think we have probably overanalysed this to death :)

cornerstone75 · 10/03/2011 09:35

erm, yes totally!! Grin

wonder if the writers will do us the honour of stopping with the clues from now on, so we don't get any more befuddled!

Glad Meyer knows (breathes sigh of relief), he is a fab character.

Fivecentsplease · 10/03/2011 09:38

The lease likely blackduck, is maybe Mortenn....he knows everything about Troels - someone said jealousy as a motive upthread (I love that word! ) The dry cleaning moment could be to implicate Troels, ....he would fit, and is a shorter man than troels (at the window)...and he's always there in the background to all implicated people...

muminlondon : The Wallander theme (Brannagh) is on amazon.....the one I have is the Adam Norden one from the Swedish version - all squealing tram wheels and weird noises...... not very, well....jolly!

Blackduck · 10/03/2011 09:49

Indeed Five - he is always there, lurking....and pathetic, so is this his big kick. Look how clever I am? We know surprisingly little about his personal life. Was she injected at any point? (he is a diabetic and would presumably be familiar with needles...)

UpSinceCrapOClock · 10/03/2011 09:56

:o at the incident board.

Have visions of all your living room walls being covered with post-its and flow charts, time lines and photos of all the characters with arrows drawn to indicate their relationships to one another. And all your dp's and dc's etc just looking at you like this Hmm

Fivecentsplease · 10/03/2011 10:10

yikes lula does that mean Mortenn is being made more feasable for the US audience? I think that's where my money is for now. I shall be watching him like a hawk on Saturday night.

Darren. ..?

Thats like re-naming him something like Clive or Barry for us!

They havn't taken my advice to bring in Wallander to wrap it up. Perhaps Gene Hunt could have go.

jammietart · 10/03/2011 10:16

I'm still here with my Morten theory esp after lula's post above. why change the character so?

I rewatched the first two episodes last night. The bit where Theis is watching the car being pulled out of the water and Pernille is on the phone to him calling his name. Just heartbreaking.

Blackduck · 10/03/2011 10:34

Upsince :) I can't convince dp to watch it so I watch on iplayer on a Sunday morning in bed so not sure where my incident board should be!! It is just fab, the characters, the development, all of it....

UpSinceCrapOClock · 10/03/2011 11:01

Blackduck - "AIBU to kick selfish-bastard DH out because he refuses to watch The Killing with me and is therefore single-handedly destroying our relationship because a) I can't discuss it with him, b) I'm forced to watch hours after it has been broadcast and c) there's not enough space on our bedroom wall for my incident board, timelines, flowcharts and character map?"

Wink
UpSinceCrapOClock · 10/03/2011 11:02

I've just watched the US trailer on YouTube. Based on that 16 second viewing, I've decided i don't like it Blush

Fivecentsplease · 10/03/2011 11:13

I have to send DH out to the pub so I can watch it (and allow 2 ds to watch without paternal dissaproval glowering from behind Guardian). Slack moral household, you see.Blush

UpSinceCrapOClock · 10/03/2011 11:15

Fivecents - it's cultural - foreign language and everything. And it's BBC Four. Means they will grow up intellectual or something

Fivecentsplease · 10/03/2011 11:18

or psychopaths. hey ho!

Blackduck · 10/03/2011 11:36

LOL! I have to stop myself opening this thread first thing Sunday morning! Get my fix first and then come on here to share my thoughts.....I do have to stop ds (7) watching over my shoulder. I do hope it is not going to be a monumental let down.

wigwam1973 · 10/03/2011 12:44

Darren! Say it's not true. That's just wrong.

I did say it was Morten a long time ago but was told (not in so many words) that my theory was, well, rubbish.

I think he's been living in Troel's shadow for long enough and is secretly very envious of his success/attention. But I can't see Nanna going for him somehow - maybe even less likely than Ugly Old Shagabout (Holk).

I'm still worried about how Lund is going to get out of her current predicament.

Off to update my incident board....

Oh, one last thing. Is the Ken Brannagh version of Wallander worth watching?
