Promising start to the series last night - just as The Guardian promised, Prime Suspect meets State of Play with a bit of Wallander (i.e. Scandinavian and with subtitles). Really moving scene where the couple whose daughter's body had been found then tried to explain it to their younger children.

Anyone else see it?

Who is Finbar?

I, too, missed who wasn't going to be in the next series, thank god!

Good point about not taking your library card to the party!

Oooh just thought - she gave the teacher her library books, didn't she? She said something about going away, didn't she? Can anyone remember what exactly she said about why she was dropping them off at midnight or so? Maybe the library card was in the books?

Hmm but the books weren't in the field. Arrgh back to the drawing board!

My money's still on Charlotte being involved - she knew that her niece was seeing someone and even when she was found dead, she did nothing about it. That, to me, is very suspicious.

atswimtwolengths · 09/03/2011 20:13

But cornerstone, I think the dummy will be relevant. When we saw it, it was like looking at a figure in the room. It's by the doorway, which was near the broken landing light.

Remember, nothing is accidental!

Perhaps it was symbolic, I'll give you that!!

Yes about the books.....maybe she was planning to run away with the lover? She had fallen out with Pernille hadn't she?

Fivecentsplease · 09/03/2011 20:43

If I was murdered and chased through a wood (not that way around obviously) the trail of crap that would fall out of my handbag during the chase would have every retailer, coffee shop, dentist and hanky shop for miles around in the frame. So the video card in was just there to allow Lund to ID Nanna as the missing person (If i remember, didn't Lund go round about something else, before Pernille and Theis had realised Nanna was missing?), and she saw her picture on the wall..
Hmm
The rapist must have dumped the stuff there after the rape at the flat, rather than Nanna dropping it.

We still don't know where she was held....so many weeks to go....

cornerstone75 · 09/03/2011 20:52

Lund went there to speak to Theis, having found the video card which had his name on, not Nanna's, and she (Lund) then saw Nanna's picture. Which then lead to questions about where she was, as no-one was worried about her, thinking she was with her school friend. They then realised she was missing, which then lead to the search.

Tying that back into what Lula's saying about the killer not wanting her to be found, I don't think the card was left as a clue to find her in the woods. I think the killer wanted them to know she was dead (evidence all over the flat) but not to find the body.

I'm beginning to realise why this is over 20 hours as there are bloody hundreds of clues!!

Sorry atswimtwolengths - Finbar was an earlier poster on this thread who said he/she would help out with the files!

UpSinceCrapOClock · 09/03/2011 20:52

Not that this is really relevant to this thread (but I know you lot will understand my excitement :o ), a new crime series premieres on Sunday in Denmark ( )

and it even had Lars in it for all you Troels fans!

Ok, hijack over - back to speculating!

UpSinceCrapOClock · 09/03/2011 20:54

has not had (watching telly while laptopping)

cornerstone75 · 09/03/2011 20:54

Good point though fivecents that there would have been more of her stuff if she'd dropped it out of her bag (which also wouldn't fit with her being held)
Her knickers (which were found too) fair enough may have, erm, fallen down (snapped elastic?) but the video card..? Unless she deliberately held onto it herself to drop as a clue? Aaah I dont know!!

teej · 09/03/2011 20:54

atswim finbar is another mner who - upthread -asked lund to send her the ruddy file so she could solve the case and put us all out of our misery!

lula exactly! re the body not being found - i pondered this upthread - what if the killer wanted people to know nanna was dead but he still wanted to keep the actual location of the body his secret as he always does? if this ties in with his usual MO (leave clues that the girl is dead but ensure people never find her) then it's business as usual. if that is NOT his usual MO then he is sending a message to someone.
and agree the cleaning of the body and nails could be construed as an act of love as much as an act of removing any DNA just in case.

cornerstone75 · 09/03/2011 20:56

UpSince am jealous!!! Hope the Beeb buy that too!!

teej · 09/03/2011 20:58

x-post with Cornerstone Grin

thing is, with the video card, we see that footage of the chase every week. now it has only just occured to me. isn't she wearing a slip and correct me if i'm wrong but she doesn't appear to be carrying a handbag. so she can't have dropped it when she was running.

also - we assume it was a "hunt" - what if she had just managed to get away from her attacker when his guard was down?

UpSinceCrapOClock · 09/03/2011 21:00

Cornerstone will report back and let you know if it is as good as Forbrydelsen.

teej · 09/03/2011 21:01

scandi crime and lars mikkelsen? i'm in.Grin
auntie beeb it's time to get the cheque book out again....

cornerstone75 · 09/03/2011 21:02

Yes she definitely is just in a slip with nothing in her hands. I am just, ahem, pontificating, that she may have secreted the video card to leave as a clue...held it in her hand or tucked it in her (not very good quality) knickers? To leave as a "Nanna woz 'ere" clue?

Getting my own knickers in a twist here (boom boom)

Teej, you're right. Sadly no Bengt-lookalikes to feast my eyes on in the school playground. Great shame.

I have to say I can't see Charlotte being involved. I think the guy at the bar who kept looking at her just wanted her to get on with the job - nothing more suspect than that. Time's money, and all that, even in Boils nightclub!

Have no new theories to throw in the mix though I agree with Fivecents. If the contents of my handbag fell out, old shopping lists and receipts would muddy the waters significantly, not to mention the odd bit of lego.

Atswim can't remember Nanna telling Rama she was going away, but agree it's very odd to be taking books back to your teacher at that time of night. But thinking back, Rama didn't say he was that surprised about it, did he?

Teej am impressed with your reasoning powers. Keep it up girl!

teej · 09/03/2011 21:15

the suit could be to do with stopping transmission of dna while he was bathing her maybe?
and if they are night vision goggles... do you need a bright torch if you are wearing night vision goggles or does that not rather defeat the purpose?

teej · 09/03/2011 21:17

sorry meant to say that

Fivecentsplease · 09/03/2011 21:21

The time sequence is really puzzling - so far we think she was raped in the flat after 11pm on the Saturday, and doped with ether, and generally beaten - it would seem that the bra and card would not have been in her possession after that point - the 'I'll just get my bag" thing might go out the window, non? We are assuming the chase comes after she has been held somewhere, and just before she is bunged in the boot, but maybe it comes before, and she is then held... and praps she thinks she is being rescued by the necklace wearer.... grabs necklace in hope...

Maybe the rape in the flat is not connected to the hunt/murder thing - The sordid politician Latvia gang attack her in drunken stupor, but someone else takes her away...someone tidies up for them, and more? if she was hunted for pleasure, then they would have to be pretty damn sure she couldn't get away.

Could it be Mortenn the tidier?

teej · 09/03/2011 21:21

thanks wigwam but i have no clue where all of this is going!
i was burbling on to DP about this the other day and basically said what if the whole political intrigue is a massive red herring as to who really killed nanna - then we would literally be back where we started with the school, family, the car driver etc and he reminded me of the saddo teacher who had kept hold of her essay. did he have an alibi or should we really be keeping him in the frame?

teej · 09/03/2011 21:27

fivecents you see that is what i thought about the timing, which is why i looked at that autopsy scene again!
so we may be looking at two crimes, two different perpetrators, with one victim?
what if holck (and others?) raped her etc and then someone else either pounced when she was left to her own devices, or she met someone she thought she could trust to help her?

Fivecentsplease · 09/03/2011 21:30

I agree Teej - though it would be a let down, but the trail does leave big muddy footprints all round city hall.

No-one is watching this round my neck of the woods, not one! Very frustating.

Fivecentsplease · 09/03/2011 21:32

teej sorry posted at the same time! Exactly my thought, as you see!

Fivecentsplease · 09/03/2011 21:35

Sorry getting in a pickle! yy teej Let it be called the many crimes/one victim theory! and it fits with the hall lurker thing, re light flexes, as the person is a calculated opportunist. (if that's possible).
