Promising start to the series last night - just as The Guardian promised, Prime Suspect meets State of Play with a bit of Wallander (i.e. Scandinavian and with subtitles). Really moving scene where the couple whose daughter's body had been found then tried to explain it to their younger children.

Anyone else see it?

Prolesworth...I'm preeety sure, he drove it to the flat didn't he (they got that on CCTV) and then he went on to the cottage. So it must be, it was definitely spotted and one of the things used to tie him to the scene. But I did wonder about the fact he said he took a sedative...was that after? May need to get a life watch it again...

Ah, good point on the files muminlondon, think you've mentioned before and I forgot. When is she going to have the blinkin' time? Can just see her getting to the files at the eleventh hour..another suspense builder.. or maybe not til after they catch the people/person (still think it's more than one, if for no other reason than how did the killer get out of the woods? Hitchhike?) and they then connect them to more missing girls.

atswimtwolengths · 09/03/2011 11:53

Ooh very good point about how did the killer get out of the woods!

cornerstone75 · 09/03/2011 11:55

I think Brix is corrupt too. Smarmy get. At the cottage when he was just looking for evidence to pin Troels...and he stared at Lund and said "Can I count on you?" I don't think he meant to do the job, I think he meant to make sure there was evidence, any way she needed to.
Same as when he said to Meyer later on about the forensics file and something like "we must make sure there is evidence that Nanna was there"

AAaaah ok, guess that would make sense with him having taken a sedative! But why Lund's comment about the car being visible? Unless she meant when Morten collected Troels. I am obsessed with the bloody car, as well as the prog....

teej · 09/03/2011 12:22

re the car - could morten have been using one of the campaign cars so it looked similar? agree troels said he left the keys on the table.
ROFL moonmother at watching in the dark - my DP would be in serious trouble if he knew! i think i'd have to go all Libra on him and ban all communication until 11pm, three weeks on Saturday Grin
something that confuses me - if nanna had finished with holck (if that theory is right) then how come she seemed to be looking forward to seeing him that night? and again, why take the books to the teacher when there was a party to be had?
so much of this still does not make any sense Confused

teej · 09/03/2011 12:26

lula drowning her seems too cruel - i think the killer thought she was dead when he put her in the boot, but he knew she were there alright.

also agree that we must be talking about a serial killer as that theory has been pushed to the side, so come back to the political and criminal threads being more coincidental than purposeful.

ie bremer did not set up troels, but is happy to pin a few nails in the coffin now it's been presented to him.....

Just catching up with this thread! Blimey, I can't keep up with all these theories.

Just to add something else into the mix though, is it my imagination or when they did the autopsy, didn't they mention that as well as the new-ish wounds there were also old wounds that had healed over? I remember noting this at the time and thinking 'aha, she's been sexually abused over time by Theis!' but it was never mentioned again, and now I'm wondering if I've imagined it. I can't remember what episode it was in though!!

Aaargh, this is doing my head in. I'm SO tempted to look up the answer. Apparently when it aired in Denmark people were placing bets on who the killer was just before the last episode aired.

cornerstone75 · 09/03/2011 13:22

teej I think the killer knew she was still alive in the boot - I don't remember the pathologist saying she'd been strangled or anything else...

Nanna's movements on the night are confusing...she left her bike at Rama's place as well didn't she? V.odd.

atswimtwolengths · 09/03/2011 13:27

Well Bengt said that the killer wanted her to die with just the two of them knowing what had happened. That assumes the killer was there for everything.

I don't get that bit about the bike - why would she leave her bike at a teacher's house?

Maybe we've assumed Rama's involvement has ended and it hasn't!

I'm nearly demented by thinking about this - worse given the answer is one click away. If I was living with moonmother's husband then I really would go crazy, knowing he knew.

wigwam1973 · 09/03/2011 13:29

I re-watched the last episode with DH last night. My understanding is that Troell's drove the campaign car to flat, left keys on table, got drunk and later on got a taxi to cottage. So Morten must have been worried about him, gone to flat to look for him, seen keys on table and assumed he was at cottage and driven there to find him. But, when he went to the flat was Nanna there - did he see something? Or did that happen later?

Re: necklace. Could it be a really awful memento that the killer leaves. Probably too obvious. But agree if the killer so meticulous at cleaning up, odd that he'd leave such an obvious clue.

DH pointed out that Meyer looks like the love child of one of the fathers at DS's school and Phil Spencer from Location, Location. V odd. And I know someone else who looks very like Morten with shorter hair. Is 'The Killing' taking over my life???

Poppet45 · 09/03/2011 13:44

Oooooooh gasp finally I've surfaced at the top of this thread!!!
Think this is the best bit of telly I've seen for a decade. It is outstanding, am so glad to have found a wee circle of fellow devotees as in real life it's just me and DH! Saturdays are now totally out of bounds as far as my social life is concerned for at least the next three weeks.
For me: Vagn is dodgy, Theis has a dodgy secret too, but I think it's a subplot.
I think Latvia is key and I think the unsolved crimes file is key.
And I love Troells. Simper.
Now do we have any developments in terms of a Lund jumper that doesn't cost £230. I HAVE to have that jumper, I can knit, ish, but I think if I splashed out on the real thing, I'd snag it, my DS would cover it in food/puke/snot or I'd just feel sick at how much it cost and never dare wear it.

cornerstone75 · 09/03/2011 13:45

LOL at wigwam1973! Never noticed the Phil Spencer resemblance Grin

Maybe Morten did see something...well he must have seen all the blood and mess!! and he never said anything?! THAT is creepy! More food for thought....

Think the necklace was a gift from Faust/the lover personally. But good point on the killer being so meticulous, he obvs chose to let her hold on to it.

cornerstone75 · 09/03/2011 13:46

Hello Poppet !

Someone def. posted something about the pattern...think it's on Ravelry...?

atswimtwolengths · 09/03/2011 14:03

What do you all think about the sister being involved?

It could be her necklace.
She's proven to be a liar.
She mixes with dodgy company.

Not saying she killed Nanna, just that maybe she was there at the end.

I prefer to think of the necklace as belonging to someone rather than given to Nanna. There are only a few women:

Pernille - obviously not
Lund - obviously not
Rie - dodgy character but can't imagine her running through the woods
Nanna's friend - would appear more disturbed, but does seem to know more than she lets on
Pernille's sister - my money is on her.

Fivecentsplease · 09/03/2011 14:09

Jumper warning - spring is coming, and over the summer the last thing you will want glaring from the wardrobe is 250 quid of nordic wooly. And by September they will be in New Look.... and soo last year:,Also the new hanker will be berets and stripes from Spiral, which is up next on BBC4.

Re the car at the summer cabin - I don't think it said it was THE car - a car was seen but not sure when. So all we know is that nanna and the killer were in the flat after 11pm friday, and Troels didn't re-surface until Sunday(wasn't it?)

Also, why did Troels take the trouble to seal vents/cover windows and then not shut the door properly ( thus allowing spirit of dead wife to intervene?).

Still think Nanna fancied Rama, but got nowhere, and left her bike to storm off back to city hall (not looking like a schoolgirl on bicycle) when Rama rejected her...What about the video tape of her going there? Who did she visit. Or did she find he had already left for the flat?

Too many holes! Bit worried it still points to Troels, actually.

UpSinceCrapOClock · 09/03/2011 14:27

Just a wee cultural note - everyone uses bikes in Copenhagen so it's definitely not just a schoolgirl thing to use a bike.

teej · 09/03/2011 14:27

Bondgirl "Apparently when it aired in Denmark people were placing bets on who the killer was just before the last episode aired."
right - so they aren't going to make it easy for us, are they? also think this proves that whatever holck's involvement is, he probably isn't the killer.
fivecents i assumed that troels was too drunk/out of it on sedatives to actually do a decent job of making the cottage enough of a "sealed" environment - eg newspaper won't do as good a job as a closed window to keep the gas in and he was probably too drunk to even close the door properly...
wigwam just as well you don't know any bengt-a-likes Wink

UpSinceCrapOClock · 09/03/2011 14:28

And yy to the jumper being in New Look by September :o

UpSinceCrapOClock · 09/03/2011 14:30

Teej - they also interviewed various top folks in the Copenhagen Police to ask their theories (with the exception of the one guy who was consulted on the script and so refused to comment).

teej · 09/03/2011 14:33

eek - thanks for the info upsince
so is there ANY chance we could work it out if we channel our collective inner agatha christie??
or should we just sit back and enjoy the ride?

Fivecentsplease · 09/03/2011 14:38

Again, jumper news: if you google 'snowflake jumper', there's a company called phixclothing that have similar for £30ish. And loads of mens ones for the Troels fantasists to put DHs in.
