Promising start to the series last night - just as The Guardian promised, Prime Suspect meets State of Play with a bit of Wallander (i.e. Scandinavian and with subtitles). Really moving scene where the couple whose daughter's body had been found then tried to explain it to their younger children.

Anyone else see it?

dropping in quickly to say hi ...

Meyer really came up in my estimation over the last couple of eppies. loved the shopping list trick and the "first the norwegian...." quote! and him heroically dashing off to rescue Lund....

politixmum loving your theory - the jumper has been there right from the start Shock

and thanks knitter for the reminder about the necklace - that had slipped my mind. it seems odd the killer would remove all traces of everything and yet let nanna keep hold of the necklace. is it possible it is a parting gift from the killer, in his sick and twisted mind? or was it left around nanna's neck and she pulled it off to give people a clue as to her killer? i just don't think it would have been pulled from another woman's neck and they would not have noticed and taken it off nanna. not when they are so meticulous...

either way you're right, we need to add "check out the ruddy necklace" to "check out the ruddy file" and "check out the ruddy boots"!!!! on Saturday

oh and PSML at sectioning whoever bought the boots Grin

I like the fact that having started out trying to get rid of Lund and refusing to go out on a limb with her, he then stuck up for her, saying if she thought it was worth looking at there was usually something in it! He could do with a good nights sleep though - he has horrendous bags under his eyes! But at least he isn't stuffing his face with crisps any more.... :)

btw i think stokey might be on to something.

they reckon nanna was held for 2 days is that correct? and the car obviously must have been kept out of sight for the same period.

so we may not be looking for a domestic basement where one person was held but more like a basement and garage/warehouse that no-one else would access for a few days.

teej · 09/03/2011 08:52

ROFL at lula i know what you mean!
certainly my productivity at work will go back up once i've stopped obsessing about this programme Grin
i think if anyone was to have knocked her about in the flat (apart from the killer) then holck is the most likely suspect.

lula I can't believe Theis or Troels could have dunnit. I can't! Theis is too cuddly and Troels is too much of a fittie. And those are good enough reasons for me.

I agree on the car not being involved til later - Troels had it at the cottage til Saturday morning, so we need to keep trailing it from then- like Bengt advised, it holds the key...
Add check out the ruddy car to the rest of the list!

The ugly old shagaround, I mean Holck, is defo involved somewhere.

withagoat - yes, it was Theis' video card, but they didn't ask him whether he'd lent it to someone. They assumed that Nanna was carrying it. When Lund went to see Pernille, she mentioned the video card and Pernille muttered something about it being Theis'.

HOWEVER: why didn't Lund ask Theis about the card and ask whether Nanna had borrowed it? Why didn't they go to the video store and ask who'd rented out the last film? Honestly, they make us do all their work for them!

I think Theis has a very dark secret - at the moment I think that he thinks (keep up!) that it's his gangster boss (? the one in the cafe) who has killed Nanna in revenge for something he (Theis) has done. This is why he looks so guilty. I think his inability to hit the girl in the tunnel, when he was attacked, shows his inability to be violent. Remember how reluctant he was to hit the teacher - he had to be egged on by his little work mate?

I think Troels has been set up. He's clever enough to pin the blame on someone else - the fact it's pointing to Troels means he hasn't done it.

muminlondon · 09/03/2011 11:04

lula, not sure who but I agree that there may be more than one person involved

OP posts:
atswimtwolengths · 09/03/2011 11:06

Olav wasn't a killer. He's dead now without confessing - the killer will have to be captured. He's a gofer, used only to book out the room.

atswimtwolengths · 09/03/2011 11:23

muminlondon, the problem with there being more than one person involved means that it isn't a typical serial killer. But Bengt (who I do NOT fancy - he's almost as bad as her previous partner) had told her that he was typical and that he'd done it before.

I just remember early on she said that it was likely more than person was involved. And whoever cleaned her up was not the person who killed her. This might be where her original instinct is right and Bengt is not always right, gorgeous as he may be.

Both myself and dp are *huge8 fans of this too.

Dp got very frustrated 2 weeks ago and managed to find out online who did it Hmm.

He says although he knows who did it, he doesn't know why and he's says that it's all very interesting still because of all the twists and turns, and hasn't spoilt watching it one bit.

That said last weekend I did make him watch it in the dark, just incase his facial expressions gave away who the murderer is.[grin

atswimtwolengths · 09/03/2011 11:35

But if you planted a red herring like that, wouldn't you make Lund actually take notice of it? Either she or t'other fella should be running down the wrong path as a result of what Bengt said if it was a red herring.

He told her it was a serial killer and to check out past deaths. She took no notice. The policeman-without-a-name gave her a file full of past crimes (and he seemed eager to tell her something) but she brushed him off and went on her own sweet way.

muminlondon · 09/03/2011 11:36

Actually, she was still alive in the car, wasn't she? So possibly whoever chased or raped/assaulted her didn't actually push the car in the water.

Lula the car was def. outside the cottage - Lund says to Meyer, if he (Troels) had supposedly covered the cottage windows with newspaper to hide the fact he was there, why would he leave the car in full view on the driveway? The car holds the key!! Grin

Agree that Troels set up, or somehow being opportunistically pinned by Bremer's camp.

Agree on Olav, he was panicking from the time they caught him out on Rama's file being stolen. Hardly serial killer material, he was in over his head

muminlondon · 09/03/2011 11:40

Atswim, the horrid new superior told her she couldn't check it out during work time and had to read the files as overtime. As if she has a life or spare time left now.

Not as overtime, in her own time. Basically telling her he didn't want her to. Must get some work done myself.

muminlondon watched the US trailers on IMDB and it looks pants. Just wanted to share that! The chase scene is so over-egged, I guess it points out the original didn't need melodrama or histrionics to be good.. And what is up with the imitation sweaters? Lund looks sexy, US cop looks ridikallus

moonmother must admit been tempted myself, getting a bit too obsessed!! I wish they'd just do a night of back to back episodes this Saturday so we can finally find out!

atswimtwolengths · 09/03/2011 11:52

How can a police officer tell someone that it's unnecessary to look at past cases? There's something up with that bloke.
