Promising start to the series last night - just as The Guardian promised, Prime Suspect meets State of Play with a bit of Wallander (i.e. Scandinavian and with subtitles). Really moving scene where the couple whose daughter's body had been found then tried to explain it to their younger children.

Anyone else see it?

Finbar · 07/03/2011 16:42

So I offered to help Lund with the files..none have turned up...you be the judge!

softpaw · 07/03/2011 16:43

i think Latvia trip is a big cover up..all guys, maybe a gay thing.i think Troels should have his own show

atswimtwolengths · 07/03/2011 17:58

He can record his show from my house.

atswimtwolengths · 07/03/2011 18:00

The thing about the boots is this: whether they are a red herring or not, there still needs to have been something said about them, eg "They're on sale everywhere" or "The shop doesn't keep a record of sales." To just bloody ignore them once they've introduced them is terrible - it just makes us DWELL! Do they not realise what they're doing to us?

wigwam1973 · 07/03/2011 18:52

Yes, good point. How did Rie know Olav's password. Was it because she was behind the extra payment he was getting???

The boots were revolting, certainly, but unusual, and surely fairly easy to track down in Copenhagen. Lund generally seems keen to delegate to Meyer (when he's not eating bananas) so strange that she didn't ask him to follow up on that.

What is Theis feeling so guilty about? Vagn is a shifty so-and-so, it has to be said. He makes my skin crawl.

It's only Monday night. Ages till the next episodes...... Boo. But I'm not reading the Guardian blog/theories. Only Mumsnet for me!

atswimtwolengths · 07/03/2011 19:17

I think Vagn had a big crush on Nanna. There's a bit where he says to Theiss something like "You know I would have done anything for her." Now that sounds like the sort of man who would clean her up before killing her, cutting her nails etc. You tend to think it's so that they don't get discovered, but it might not be that at all, it might be an obsession.

Oh and you SHOULD read The Guardian blog because someone on there pointed out that Theiss' workshop has a concrete floor! And he had some of the ties that were used for tying Nanna's wrists!

It's actually a very good read - just as good as this, but even more theories!

OhBuggerandArse · 07/03/2011 19:44

Rie does seem to have access to computer information - remember way back at the beginning when she broke into Morten's email to find the leaks?

cornerstone75 · 07/03/2011 20:17

I think Rie just has access to the shared server/ is an IT geek or knows one, and that's how she gets the info- although it's not legal to do that without the employees' consent. I don't think she is shifty, just ridiculously ambitious. And far too attractive for my liking... Envy

PMSL at the "Troels Show" , maybe it could be set in BOILS night-clooob if attwoswimslength 's place isn't free...
could we have a linky to the blog as I am to lazy couldn't find it for myself

atswimtwolengths · 07/03/2011 20:27

OK here it is:

Here it is

Be warned though, there are a lot of posts!

pipsqueak · 07/03/2011 20:54

i keep hearing about this series but have not seen any episodes to date. just wondering therefore if it is possible to watch these as a stand alone episode or do you needto have watched it from the beginnning?

atswimtwolengths · 07/03/2011 20:58

You have to watch it from the beginning - the first episode is no longer on iPlayer. If you had someone to talk you through that, you might manage, but I do think you'd miss out, sorry.

Fivecentsplease · 07/03/2011 21:01

The Hunt Theory is a good one - and we may end up with a political group in prostitute scandal at the root of this. I think the boots are in only as a pointer that Nana was receiving expensive gifts/more money than a bar job would pay. Was she a prostitute? Doesn't her friend know more than she is letting on?

Nanna could have got mixed up with 'hostessing' for a group of the Bremmer camp through the bar over the Summer... and the rape in the flat was a culmination of them using her, but one of them kept it going.

I thought the girl mugger was put in as a 'colouring in' of Theiss realising that girls (like nanna) could be up to no good - also to show that he could not hit a girl.

The killer has so many areas of influence it's just mind boggling: He has easy access to Troels office and email, and knows the security set up at City Hall. And also seems to know all the workings at police HQ and be powerful enough to sack Buchard and re-appoint a pro- bremmer chief. And know how to clean up after a mucky killing......oh, and have time to hang around Lunds stairwell snipping flexes. (has tools and practical skills). There must be more than one person.

A Mortenn would be mighty useful around the home (presuming he's not a psychopath). Handy with the laundry, anyway.

jammietart · 07/03/2011 21:05

pipsqueak you can buy the first episode from itunes store for £1.89. I'm sure it will be repeated though.

UpSinceCrapOClock · 07/03/2011 21:07

Cornerstone - they have the Gymnasium system in Denmark, similar to Germany I think? So they finish school at around 19 / 20 years old (final year is 3G, equivalent to last year of A-levels, and the exam you need to get into uni).

Daren't answer anything else :o

(specifically 12 seconds in and 24 seconds in)
atswimtwolengths · 07/03/2011 21:11

I just thought that I'd be looking at who bought the boots - it's easy enough if someone's paid by card.

Oh oh oh! Yes, forgot this!

When Theiss and Pernille's sister found Nanna in the hotel, who had paid for the hotel? Surely that would be the person who she was having an affair with?

cornerstone75 · 07/03/2011 21:15

Ah, thank you UpSinceCrapOClock and sorry for not knowing your name before! The vid was good, I recognise the actress but can't think where from

Thanks too for the link attwoswimslength will be checking that out

pipsqueak I cannot believe Ep.1 has been taken down- I only watched it last week..maybe they only have space for 12/13 hours worth. The Guardian have a plot summary if you do a search, and we can fill you in...there is also a little summary at the start of ep.2

pipsqueak · 07/03/2011 21:21

thanks atswim ,jammie and cornerstone - i will see what i can find on catch up etc .it sounds fab.

TooTiredtoGoogle · 07/03/2011 21:24

atswimtwolengths - brilliant point about the hotel.
Why don't they just tell the police which hotel it was so police can check it out ????
Aarrggghh ... wish I was working on the case now!!

TooTiredtoGoogle · 07/03/2011 21:25

Have they told Theis and Pernille's sister even told the police about the hotel incident ???

UpSinceCrapOClock · 07/03/2011 21:28

No worries Cornerstone :o

The actress is Iben Hjejle - you may have recognised her from High Fidelity?

atswimtwolengths · 07/03/2011 21:31

Yes, the police were told about the hotel incident.

TooTired, I've been saying (shouting!) that throughout - I want to work on that case!

lula and anyone who missed wallander - catch any of the different wallander's next time they are on, they are all slightly different but very good.
(Kenny Branagh UK version, Swedish tv version with Krister Henriksson, or Swedish tv movie version with Rolf Lassgård)

still mulling events from saturday. gah! it's like there must be something really obvious staring us in the face!!! fwiw i'm still thinking the political intrigue and the murder are different threads - intertwined coincidentally rather than purposefully.

holck is creepy enough to have stalked and harrassed nanna during/after an affair, but i don't know that he's the serial killer type. also can't remember who said it, but yes i think his comment about not being seen together with troels was more about him thinking he (holck) was going to be collared than anything else.

finbar no call from Lund, yet?

btw thanks to upsince and others for those public service links to lars mikkelsen. definately think there is great potential for the troels show - any obliging tv execs out there?? Grin

Politixmum · 08/03/2011 00:17

Just managed to read all through thread after catching up on i-player this evening! Eek, always worried about cut light and dodgy phone call, and now the missing keys and phone .

Going back to Oliver's Dad theory - was he on the trip to Latvia? (he had been on a trip, also some businessmen and Jens Holck went along) meaning a conspiracy between businessmen and politicians.

Come on Lund:

File of missing women
Boots
and who a) hacked into Morten's email to leak to press, b) hacked into Troels's BOILS account. Must be city hall person, Olaf or not Olaf?

Oh, and spend a bit more time with your son! while also managing to solve case better than all the blokes around you.

Anyone else find Sopranos difficult (after bearing little baby), while Sopranos-and-Wire-addicted male DP finds early Killing episodes showing family grief really hard?
