Promising start to the series last night - just as The Guardian promised, Prime Suspect meets State of Play with a bit of Wallander (i.e. Scandinavian and with subtitles). Really moving scene where the couple whose daughter's body had been found then tried to explain it to their younger children.

Anyone else see it?

Oh and while the kettle boils - Troels got through FOUR shirts yesterday -MY WORD. Only one visible change, so we are cheated. I thought he had, dare I utter, a tiny bit of a mini-gut brewing. Shock

muminlondon · 06/03/2011 09:52

I think he looks better with his shirt on. I've been enjoying those crip white shirts.

Yes, have to say I noticed the beginning of the gut. Bet Bengt doesn't have one (and a six-pack instead)! Oh dear, think I'm becoming obsessed.

Maybe Troel's has been too busy making alliances (one a day it seems) to go and tidy the cottage.

Have to say I found Bree very annoying last night. She's definitely more interested in Troel's position in parliament than in him as a person, iyswim.

crisp sorry

FAB!! I think Holck is poss Nanna's lover, but not the murderer. I think she dumped him and he was ringing endlessly from Latvia....
Loved Meyers 'The Norwegian left, and now your sone, lets hope your mother doesn't leave' - charming!! Though I think he is developing a soft spot for her.
Poor Theis, for goodness sake Pernilla get a grip, he's only trying to help in his lumbering tactless way.
Aren't we running out of suspects now? and a further question:
11. Is Troels really TALL, or are Danish cells really small?
And, yes, he has got a bit of a tum!

Margles · 06/03/2011 11:29

Yes - Troels is tall - see www.imdb.com/name/nm0586565/resume

  • it doesn't say whether he has a bit of a tum or not, but I thought so too.

Can't wait for next week's episodes.

Blackduck · 06/03/2011 11:37

oh wow - yes he is :)
I liked the question on the Guardian blog:
What medical condition does Meyer have that is cured by eating bananas? :)

Fivecentsplease · 06/03/2011 12:20

The political machine is working hard in the background - so Buchard was replaced because he was protecting Troels.... Now the new bod seems to be a pro Bremmer appointee, and keen to keep Troels locked up.

The nature of this programme is to set up assumptions, which we all steam after....the thing about Nanna being cleaned up after the rape - she would have been alive, so maybe she washed herself? There's something glaring from the early episodes - but I can't remember!!

anyone got total recall, you know, the sort that obsesives have...?Wink

Margles · 06/03/2011 12:48

I am getting confused with this and the Guardian blog but.. to the person who said that now Lund's stuff has come back from Sweden she can display her full range of jumpers.... That can't be so! Didn't she say to her son that all her things were in the basement?

Proles - I think you are right - originally he was pissed off that Lund kept questioning him, but now....hum...
Re the washing - her nails were also clipped which is unlikely to be something she did...

muminlondon · 06/03/2011 13:48

Blackduck, maybe Meyer has high blood pressure or an ulcer. He's a stressed kind of guy. Now I'm worried for him.

Frankly, don't mind the minigut of Troels - he is still charming but do agree that he was menacing when standing behind Sarah. I knew it wouldn't happen but did wonder for a moment if he was going to grab her!

Craftoid, as for Lund losing her intuition, you are absolutely right - why on earth did she leave her phone & keys in the car when she visited Holck? I noticed she did that too when she rushed off into the station to see Bengt off. Poor sweetie, he is wondering what he hasn't done to deserve this treatment - perhaps it is the remote location in Sweden?

It is too early in the series for Holck to be the killer but it could that he is covering for someone else higher up. In any case, it all stinks especially with Brix now acting very suspiciously in trying to nail the murder on Troels. If I was Troels, I would have admitted the attempted suicide as it might endear him even more to the voters but perhaps the Danes are not as sympathetic to suffering public figures like the Brits would be.

muminlondon · 06/03/2011 14:28

Well, look what happened to Charles Kennedy - his party forced him out for being an alcoholic. Troels' party or his opponents would have leapt on the news of his drinking binge alone, let alone his suicide attempt.

The Minigut of Troels. Hmm. could be a spin-off, do you think?

Are there any non-annoying characters called Brie anywhere? Desperate Housewives 10/10 annoying
Smelly Cheese 10/10 annoying in my fridge
The noise of a burp 9/10 annoying (when done by another)

Not on my Baby name list at all.

Habbibu · 06/03/2011 18:11

Hello, Craftoid, and welcome to MN and this thread!

Fivecentsplease · 06/03/2011 19:24

oh god, it's Rie,Blush

I knew that.....

Margles · 06/03/2011 19:32

What? Rie is feeding info to Bremer? Could be, she always seemed dodgy to me. Or Rie killed Nanna? No, not possible!

bettys · 06/03/2011 19:37

Look! Look! You can buy Sarah's sweater!!

Phew, thought I was going to have to get my knitting needles out

IslaValargeone · 06/03/2011 19:39

I have been watching this with my intellectual BBC 4 Danish subtitles head on, but must admit I came over quite unnecessary when Troels took his shirt off. Caught me quite by surprise, and will now go and post on the which celeb would be filthy thread.

Margles · 06/03/2011 20:02

It would be much cheaper to get your knitting needles out though.

bettys · 06/03/2011 20:11

Yes, that's obviously why the slashed jumper got stitched up and she has to get maximum wear out of it...

staranise · 06/03/2011 20:30

Can I join in?

I'm convinced that it will all fall into place when Lund remembers that file given to her about the other missing women that she hasn't yet looked at - remember last week the policeman kept trying to show it to her and she kept brushing it aside? Something to do with how the missing women were not from Copenhagen...

I'm definitely knitting myself an original Lund jumper, yoke and all.
