Promising start to the series last night - just as The Guardian promised, Prime Suspect meets State of Play with a bit of Wallander (i.e. Scandinavian and with subtitles). Really moving scene where the couple whose daughter's body had been found then tried to explain it to their younger children.

Anyone else see it?

Oh yes, and can I add that my MIL used to work at city hall - her office was just to the left of where the janitor was questioned by Lund and Meyer a couple of weeks ago.

I am completely open to the idea of her being the one who dunnit.

She would need little if any motivation.

Habbibu · 05/03/2011 21:02

What does that mean, Up? I'm really tempted to try learning Danish now.

zanz1bar · 05/03/2011 21:56

Off with the shirt

smugmumofboys · 05/03/2011 21:59

Lol! I turned to DH and said 'the shirt off is defo going to be on MN'.

UpSinceCrapOClock · 05/03/2011 22:38

Sorry, disappeared for a minute there.

Libra's MIL is officially my favourite theory so far :o

Habbibu - it just means 'That's Quite Enough' - my (Danish) mum used to say it a lot when we were getting a bit close to the proverbial line as kids. Danish would be relatively simple to learn if it weren't for the blimming pronunciation. The classic example of this is 'rød grød med fløde' (the name of a pudding made from summer fruits and with cream)

Habbibu · 05/03/2011 22:59

Oh my God! I hope Meyer's on his way!

smugmumofboys · 05/03/2011 23:02

I literally can't wait for next Saturday!

Honestly, it's all so twisty and red herring-y.

I bloody love it. Grin

muminlondon · 05/03/2011 23:03

Where's the phone gone?

OP posts:
Habbibu · 05/03/2011 23:04

Holck has it. Got to be...

Habbibu · 05/03/2011 23:05

And the car keys.

Habbibu · 05/03/2011 23:05

Dessau was a fab false trail.

stressymum73 · 05/03/2011 23:17

But of all people, Holck! He is not even mildly attractive - what did Nanna see in him? And, Pernille, what are you doing woman?? Get Theis back quick...

Troels without shirt - I was having palpitations!!! :o

teej · 05/03/2011 23:31

ROFL-ing at Libra's DH & MIL! My DP would be exactly the same if he knew - he keeps on saying, "you could probably get it online you know", but it's much more fun tagging along with all of you!

Fivecentsplease · 05/03/2011 23:35

Haven't we got about 4 weeks to go - it's too soon for it to be Holck - What place was that Lund was in (with the car)? The person has to have ready access to Troels office - so needs to be closer to Troels.

Have still only identified "shit" from the subtitles. In Wallander by now I could say " For Fs sake, a gas explosion!". Often useful.

teej · 05/03/2011 23:37

so can we assume that holck's missus was divorcing him because he was shagging around and then he officially became obsessed with nanna? or that she divorced him because he was obsessed with nanna?

pondered nanna & holck too, stressy, maybe she went along with it at the start, flattered to be spoilt by this older man (her essay was quite romantic wasn't it? all breathless about the secrecy etc of an affair), then she realised he was still just an ugly old shagaround with baggage and decided to end it, whereupon he turned stalker.
Hmm

Fivecentsplease · 05/03/2011 23:39

And the caretaker is dodgy, lurking in hallways noticing stuff...

teej · 05/03/2011 23:41

fivecents ha! we've all read/watched too much agatha here, haven't we?! "we're how far away from the end of the story? nah... got to be another red herring then!!"
ROFL at the language lessons tho'

teej · 05/03/2011 23:45

btw - is the guardian thread now spoily? will avoid reading the comments in that case, although i liked the journo roundup!

i really want to figure it out dammit Confused

teej · 05/03/2011 23:47

fivecents the caretaker would say any old crap to get the reward, though, wouldn't he?

Fivecentsplease · 05/03/2011 23:51

This Latvia trip has all the dodgy ones on board - Bremmer, Holck, Dessau - and dodgy expenses....wonder if any women missing in Latvia.

Still think more than one person is involved....don't get the messy flat/clean corpse paradox.

Hmm teej, I agree that Holck is an unlikely date for Nanna - he would seem an unlikely match (if only from a casting point of view): But then I wouldn't have had the brushy-haired ex matched with Lund!

wigwam1973 · 06/03/2011 07:53

Fivecents - agree about Lund's ex. Can't imagine her with someone with such floppy hair who obviously carries a can of hairspray with him wherever he goes!

Am in mourning re: no Bengt last night. I did get my hopes up when Lund left him the message on his answer machine. Surely if he's flying in he'll be in it next week.....

I'm guessing there will be a missing person on THAT LIST (that they all keep forgetting) from Latvia, who conveniently disappeared at the same time as that trip. I'm also beginning to agree that there's more than one person involved - just not sure who now.

Poor old Theis. Did anyone else notice how knobbly his knees were?

P.S.Teej - Love the description of Holk as an 'ugly old shagaround'!
P.P.S. Did anyone else feel a bit scared when Troels came up behind Lund to find her reading his diary. I'm sure all done to add to the the suspense, but still, he seemed quite menacing for a moment.

Finbar · 06/03/2011 08:26

yes -was shouting at the screen -" He's behind you Sarah!YABU to read his diary!!"

Finbar · 06/03/2011 08:28

Was Bremer acting well or did he genuinely not know about al the stuff? ( Have gone blank here - was v.tired...I know he was told about something and acted really innocent and surprised)

Craftoid · 06/03/2011 08:45

Found both MN and the Killing almost simultaneously. It's taken a week to get up to speed, but am so happy to have found the prog and you people!
A couple of thoughts-
Lund's son - has anyone else noticed his rapid aging since Episode 1? He must have grown at least a foot and voice is now deep and growly in the last week and a half?
Also whenever Lund says "I'm too busy too deal with that now" she (and we) miss another vital clue staring her in the face. Deal with it now please Lund!
The spooky levels of intuition she showed in the first few episodes seems to have deserted her now, although lucky that she had her gun after all.

Fivecentsplease · 06/03/2011 08:57

Yawn.... just woken up - and my first thought was - don't forget the gang of key/phone stealing Hooooodies who are in the area....another red herring I think - and the car will be someone elses, that has been stored as a favour (unseen).

They should call in the Ystad Police - They usually have things sewn up in a couple of days.

Must...have....tea.....
