Smoking to vaping?

Has anyone succeeded in swapping smoking for vaping?
I can't stand how addicted to cigarettes I am, I wake every morning in panic about my health.
I just can't seem to get myself to stop! In fact the more I think about it, the more I smoke!
I was thinking trying to switch to vaping might be an idea?
Has anyone managed this? Any tips?
Thank you

Foxbox have you got your smok stick prince yet?

I had a look at that because on occasion I like a few clouds but I’m too lazy to rebuild my tank to achieve them. Could you let me know how you get on?

If it’s a cloud chaser you will need to drop your nicotine levels by the way. I made the mistake of putting 12mg in my sub ohm tank. I won’t do that again in a hurry Smile

LoonyLuna · 06/09/2018 10:40

I had a name change fail. And a bit of a panic about it. But does anyone care? Grinwell done team vape!

Foxbox · 06/09/2018 15:30

No one cares Luna go team vape Grin

Jins I have got it. I wasn't sure at first but this is my first experience of sub ohm vaping so I hadn't realised how differently you needed to inhale it! I've got the hang of it now- I really like it and am trying some fruity flavours for the first time Smile it's very easy to use- just press and go. I like that too. I haven't got anything to compare it too but it's a thumbs up from me!

Vaping is supposed to be worse for you. It also looks more naff than smoking. I don't really see any reason to switch.

Foxbox · 06/09/2018 15:42

www.gov.uk/government/news/phe-publishes-independent-expert-e-cigarettes-evidence-review

I'm going with what Public Health England say- 95% less harmful than smoking- I don't believe what I read in the papers..

I thought it looked naff too but I don't care any more. All I know if I feel so much better- no awful morning cough, breathlessness, yellow fingers, bad skin or health anxiety- it's a win for me!

Oh crap. You're right! Smoking looks much cooler. Best get back on it then.

@Jins What liquid do you use with your sub ohm? Turns out I'm a fan of the big clouds! Shock
I've tried some lemon custard- wasn't keen. I think I like zingy, fruity cool flavours- any recommendations would be appreciated- it's like a whole new thing to me!

Jins · 07/09/2018 20:41

I’m a big custard fan Foxbox and I mix my own liquids so I’m not sure any recommendations would help.

Try vapegoo for economical liquids in lower nic strengths. They’ve got loads of flavours and the ones I’ve tried have been ok.

Sub ohm vaping is a completely different technique but I really like chucking the odd cloud as well. I’m currently in a fog of princess milk which is peach/orange/vanilla and butterscotch.

Foxbox · 07/09/2018 20:51

Thanks Jins, I'll have a look at vapegoo 👍
There's so much to explore in the world of vaping- I can see how it becomes a hobby!

It certainly can run away with you. I found my starter kit the other day. It’s a world away from the fancy mod and rebuildable tanks I use now. I think there’s a possibility that vaping could cost more than smoking for some people

Foxbox · 07/09/2018 21:32

Yes- I can see how that happens!
I can see the value of it in terms of staying away from a long standing smoking habit- addiction is obsessive after all. I'd rather transfer that obsession to something so much less harmful...I wonder if that's partly why vaping is so good for helping smokers who couldn't stay quit any other way.
In my 30 year habit this is the longest I've been off the fags for- and the big difference- I don't actually want one. Never thought I'd see the day!

I started off ‘allowing’ myself to spend no more than I would have done buying cigs and I did stick to it. I’m owed several thousand pounds of vaping kit now Smile

I too had been smoking for about 30 years and although I’d given up a few times I spent every moment wishing I could have a cigarette. Not any more. I’ve done 20 months without wanting one

Foxbox · 07/09/2018 22:02

That's amazing Jin! 20 months and all that money saved Smile

I'm confident it's a permanent change for me too.

I honestly think vaping is an actual lifeline for smokers. I never dreamed I'd be free of it. I just want everyone to know there is hope and to try it!

It makes me so angry to see the 'reports' in the press implying how harmful vaping is- that kind of misinformation will genuinely kill people Angry

Just realised it's now been 3 months! I'm guessing it's similar for you @LoonyLuna and 4dogs? Hope you're doing ok- and anyone else who's still around Smile

@Jins just to say the smok prince broke within a week Sad The locking mechanism for the top where you refill it. I don't know if it's a common problem with them but just a heads up in case your were still thinking about it

Thanks for the heads up. I’ve heard a bit about smok products being unreliable but it’s been the mods rather than the tanks. Did you get a replacement?

I’ve just had to replace my trusty istick. It was my first ‘proper’ mod and it owes me nothing but it was great to carry around. I’ve got others but I like having three on the go. I get most stuff from fasttech or GearBest nowadays

Foxbox · 16/09/2018 21:13

Yes, it's a shame- it was nice to vape. I've sent it back and am awaiting a call about getting a replacement. I've read a couple of negative reviews since so I'm thinking I might go for a Vaporesso Cascade one plus instead- looks like a similar idea with better reviews.

I've also had 3 vapes in the go but am currently down to one- it's making me a bit twitchy! Interesting to hear the istick has been reliable and thanks for the site suggestions- I'll have a look

OP posts:
Jins · 16/09/2018 21:27

Vaporesso have some good kit. I also like aspire but they tend to be more mtl based

Eleaf are a good safe bet for well priced kit. I’ve had two istick picos on the go for well over a year. Most of the totally wicked stuff seems to be rebranded eleaf.

Foxbox · 17/09/2018 08:29

That's good to know, thank you

Hello again (name changed from tutty). I'm so glad you all managed to keep it up with the vaping. I on the other hand had a bit of a stressful few months and caved😣.

Back to square one for me again. I've taken my vape out ready to give it another shot now my life is a less stressful. I've had about 4 cigs today so far and been vaping in between. Trying to get the feel for it again. I think I'm gonna see how i go in the morning and try and just vape the 1st part but not put myself in a panic about it if i do have the odd one. Let see how i go this time anyway.

Well done all.

Foxbox · 15/10/2018 20:49

Hi patsy!

It’s good to hear from you. Sorry to hear you’ve had a stressful time.

Only 4 fags today is fab! What’s that- 16 not smoked? (I can’t remember without reading back through the thread)

I think it’s a great idea not to put too much pressure on yourself- I think it can make it worse can’t it. I really liked the ‘vape first then you can still have a fag if you really want one’ approach, along with counting fags not smoked.

I think you’ll be fine once you get going- you’ve got a strong will when you’re focused...

Keep posting if it helps, here for support if you want it x
