I've been ten days clean, however, tomorrow may be the end of that as I am going back to my old town where I know far too many dealers and there will be every opportunity. I don't have the willpower to stop myself.

I'm the same when I meet up with old friends. I'll psych myself up for "just a few drinks" but deep down I know what is going to happen. And I let it happen every time.

Welcome Sunshine I'd love to hear a bit more about you and how you've found yourself on this thread holding a surfboard! Of course you can join. Is it just your old town or crowd where your triggers are?

My occasional use has spiraled over recent years, escalating from Fridays to all weekend binges and then creeping into weekdays too so I'm here trying to put a stop to it and try and get some control back before it all goes tits up.
I've had varied success but this thread has helped massively.

I started about 8 years ago, just the occasional few lines at a party or whatever. Then for about 2/3 years it was every weekend. Then it quickly became 2 or even 3 times a week. I managed to calm down for a while, however, have now returned to my once a week habit.
My DP does it too which doesn't help as we are exactly the same as each other when it comes to coke. Can't say no.

For a while I've been feeling like I just can't have a good time without it when I'm out with friends/ always keeping an eye out for someone who might have some. Which is why I'd like to stop. I also don't know any dealers in my new town which I thought would be a blessing, but every time my DP travels back for work once a week he brings some home

I found this thread and can relate to what so many of you are saying. It's amazing to realise there are many of us in the same boat.

God I can identify with a lot of your story, Sunshine, us coke heads are so predictable . It's scary how a habit so quickly takes hold and starts escalating isn't it? It sort of creeps up on you.

I am just fed up with my life beginning to revolve around it, if you know what I mean. Living for the weekends and spending most of the week recovering and then wishing for the weekend again..

Hopefully we can give you a bit of support with your surfing .
And yes, I've found a kindred soul: someone who talks nearly as much as I do!

lost exactly. Even when I don't take it, I am thinking about taking it or about when an opportunity may present itself. We even managed to find some while on a 3 day break in Germany so stupid.

It was actually scarily easy. My DP did get taken to some very posh house (while I sat in a cafe drinking wine) so that he could "sample" different grades and choose.

I went mental at him when I realised how much danger he could have been in but that's a whole other story!!!

Christ, sounds like the Germans do it far better than us. I think I'd go for top grade after sampling can I get a job there? Are you obliged to buy after sampling?

Yeah I think you probably have to buy once you're in there. God knows what would happen if you didn't!! They had huge bags of random "products" each brought out one at a time. When he told me I thought he was making it up.

Once you're tuned into it it's impossible NOT to spot it. Maybe we could all retrain as sniffer dogs?!

Good point, I have a finely tuned coke radar which works from quite some distance away. I only have to look at dh's face or hear his voice to know whether he's on it or not!
