I know Cleaning. The thing is I want him to want to spend time with us but he just doesn't. I'm 48 and can't bear the thought that this is for the rest of my life.

I have written about my problems with my extended impossible to please family but dh has my back. I'm a very black and white person... if my spouse hasn't got my back then I'd rather be single.

It might be complicated/messy to split but the effect of being with someone who isn't actually willing to engage in the marriage can and will have an untold effect on your mental health and there's no price you can put on that.

I had given myself a five year plan but I don't think I can last that long in reality. Thank you for your replies, I can't say any of this to anyone in RL, so it's lovely to be able to offload here and not be judged.

Sorry Sunday I was being facetious. I have often needed to post in Relationships but couldn't face it really. It willl always be "LTB" but it's never that simple. It tales a lot of courage and planning. But we are here to listen and help where we can

I know Dusty, no need to apologise! You are right it's never that simple, I guess the fact that he would rather be with his friends than his family has just brought home to me how little we matter to him.
There is so much to unravel if I do leave and it's incredibly daunting and I know he wouldn't make it easy for me.

You're right Sunday it can't all change overnight. It must be like facing a mountain. Thinking of you. I'm probably rubbish with advice, I'm an expert at putting my head in the sand! but I'll be a listening ear if that helps at all.
