Are white jeans/trousers EVER "in"?

I have just got 2 lovely tunics from White Stuff in the sale- they would both look goood with white or pale coloured trousers or capris.

Is white a bit naff- especially for an "older" person - but is still a size 10!

Liz Hurley.

I think white linen trousers are timeless- white jeans a bit dodgy if you are of a certain age.

cyb · 07/04/2010 12:37

Hmm I'm not a fan of cropped or tight white trousers but a pair of wide legged ones with a litle stripey top can look great

not the answer you wanted though is it?

They will be fine...they look OK on me, and not a lot looks OK on me. I'm just always scared of getting them dirty.

Check out the white company website....the modles there will show you how it's done.

traceybath · 07/04/2010 12:43

I love white skinny jeans - they look fab and you lot can go away with your liz hurley comments

purplepeony · 07/04/2010 12:44

You're right- white linen might be better- jeans are a bit hot for summer anyway.
The tunic is lovely and thin- green and turquoise but the background is ecru so maybe off-white trews would be better.

Skinny white jeans are in fashion this year, as are very pale denim/stonewash jeans if you are confident you can pull them off!

cocolepew · 07/04/2010 12:48

I used to have a pair of white Levis. I loved them, but they never really recovered from the pint of cider and blackcurrant incident [sigh]

traceybath · 07/04/2010 12:51

Oh white linen whole different ballgame. Need to be really expensive linen or just look like pj bottoms.

And purple - its an english summer - we'll be lucky to get our boots off.

I have 2 new pairs of white skinnies that I am itching to wear.

I also think they can be very flattering.

God - this could be my subject on mastermind

cocolepew · 07/04/2010 12:52

You can always see peoples pants through white linen.

deaddei · 07/04/2010 12:55

(has vision of cocolepew arse-watching)

Indaba · 07/04/2010 12:56

Long yes, cut offs no. Seem to recall a Trinny & Susannah episode when they were v disparaging re cut offs.....small alarm bells ring now when I pick up a pair.

SuSylvester · 07/04/2010 12:57

I LOVE THEM
i look fantastic in them

cocolepew · 07/04/2010 13:08

Even worse is when you can't see their pants. Yuk. I can't help but look deaddei, I like to judge

muddleduck · 07/04/2010 13:12

They are just a way of showing off that you have a clean house and clean children.

SuSylvester · 07/04/2010 13:12

hmm i cant say that is the case..

AnyFucker · 07/04/2010 13:13

I like white linen wide leg trews

and I have a pair of beigey linen trews too

I don't like white jeans though

Bonsoir · 07/04/2010 13:13

I have never understood the emotions that white jeans/trousers provoke on MN. I have worn white jeans/trousers in summer all my life and shall continue to do so. They look very nice with summer blouses and sandals and are eminently practical...

LadyOfTheFlowers · 07/04/2010 13:13

In response to thread title, No, never IMO.

Bucharest · 07/04/2010 13:15

T'is springtime, and every single Italian, (except dp because I take care of his wardrobe) is in tight white lycra-d jeans. Old women with saggy brown faces, old men, fat women, young women. Men with builder's arses. Builders.....

Tell you, makes me feel damn good about myself.

As I pointed out to dp as we went for a walk the other day. Just because you can buy them in your size, doesn't mean you should.

AnyFucker · 07/04/2010 13:16

I wouldn't call white trews "practical" though

BunnyLebowski · 07/04/2010 13:17

A baaaaaad example

GreenMonkies · 07/04/2010 13:18

Only if you have legs and an arse like the model in the Reebok shoes ad.

Apart from that, no.

AnyFucker · 07/04/2010 13:19

bunny...where did you find that pic of me ??
