Are white jeans/trousers EVER "in"?

I have just got 2 lovely tunics from White Stuff in the sale- they would both look goood with white or pale coloured trousers or capris.

Is white a bit naff- especially for an "older" person - but is still a size 10!

Franca, very big class difference between white trousers, and white jeans.

Am rather excited to hear that clogs are coming back though. Heart clogs.

lotster · 07/04/2010 15:01

Ooh Bucharest I have both, so what does that mean?

My best white trousers are loose and linen from Sisley, and my white jeans are tight from Primark - seems I am a dichotomy of Tropez and Trash??

Actually I would say it's less of a class difference and more of an age difference. I feel grown up in the trousers and more hip in the jeans...

southeastastra · 07/04/2010 15:22

i love my white jeans but then again i was very influenced by the way the big audio dynamite dressed.

SuSylvester · 07/04/2010 15:30

rofl

purplepeony · 07/04/2010 15:31

OMG- I've been away for two hours and there are 105 posts- will catch up ladies.

Okay- catching up.
I have no intention of showing my bum but if I did can assure you it is small and toned. So there.
The tunic I have will cover the bum area completely, so white knickers/no knickers etc will not be an issue.

I have to say that I hate to see women- especially older ones- wearing white linen trousers which show the outline of their thongs, with wobbly cheeks either side.

Agreed Purple - 3/4 length tops area must white white strides IMHO!

SugarTits · 07/04/2010 15:44

flesh coloured underwear essential. I am neither young or skinny (41 & size 14/16) and I know I look great in white jeans/trousers in the summer. My dh is great at being totally honest and he'd tell me if I was in denial and he's says I look most sophisticated in them.

moondog · 07/04/2010 15:49

They are nice Tracey but I don't think I would ever pay over £100 for a pair of jeans. The last ones I had were from Next and they were great. Perfect with a singlet and scuffed chunkybrown boots and a big belt. Yee ha!

Re the Habeens...I dunno. Hope so.I am in another country now and my neighbour under strick orders to drop in and search porch. If not they are on their way back to bleeeding Stockholm or somewhere.

traceybath · 07/04/2010 16:09

If you're a size 12 Kew have some for £20 in their sale but I suspect you're slimmer than that

Hasbeens came via UPS so hopefully neighbour will have signed for them.

moondog · 07/04/2010 16:20

Nope,I am a size 12 and will be in London for the w/end in 2 weeks so I will ch-ch-check out Kew (no decent shops near me).
Thanks.

moondog · 07/04/2010 16:21

Oh and yes Sugar, I agree with flesh colured underwear- under most clothes actually.

I really hate seeing bra patterns through clothes. Dead rough. If it is that obvious it needs to be worn on its own.

LouMacca · 07/04/2010 17:14

I am size 12, 5.7 and wear white boot cut jeans but only with long tops/tunics. The only bums that look good in white jeans are petite ones.

daddywillbehomesoon · 07/04/2010 17:32

i love white jeans. now living in South Africa so it's much more acceptable to wear white jeans almost all year round - avoiding the permatan though

traceybath · 07/04/2010 17:46

Kew sale jeans

moondog · 07/04/2010 18:00

thanks Tracey, they look just the ticket.

lotster · 07/04/2010 19:18

Crikey!

"Agreed Purple - 3/4 length tops area must white white strides IMHO!"

should have said

"Agreed Purple - 3/4 length tops are a must with white strides IMHO!

Obviously in a rush!

DomesticG0ddess · 07/04/2010 19:50

That is really funny, BunnyLebowski. I'm a size 10, but I do not look good in white jeans. I do love wide legged white linen trousers though and live in them all summer.

caughtinafog · 07/04/2010 22:14

I'm in my 40's & have white jeans.

I l-l-l-love them. I have a cropped ralph lauren pair, which are particulary nice.

Absolutely no VIPS though !

SuSylvester · 07/04/2010 22:14

VIPS?
VPls?

BranflakeGirl · 08/04/2010 02:05

Aah skinny white jeans...bad in the 80's, worse in the 90's (particularly on a then boyf who thought he looked like a romantic poet in them avec frilly "blouse" but sans underwear as dark boxers would've shown through!...why, oh why does MN have no "vom" smiley?!) Draw your own conclusions? And I mean on the white jeans issue not my teenage bad taste in men!!

Personally, I think Bucharest summed it up perfectly!

gtamom · 08/04/2010 07:39

I say yes to a size 10.
You need to make sure they are a nice cut for your figure. You are only a size 10, so could easily pull it off. Avoid tight pants or baggy pants, front or side pockets, elastic waists or cuffed hems!
Just make sure to only wear them on bright sunny days, they don't look right on overcast days.

traceybath · 08/04/2010 07:42

The sun is shining here today - I think I may break out the white skinnies

vesela · 08/04/2010 13:05

here is a q. - do white dresses say "impractical" to you more than white jeans? I'm always meaning to get a white dress, but worry about it looking impractical (not actually being impractical if you see what I mean - the odd bit of playground dirt washes out pretty well). But people wear white jeans all over the place.

Bonsoir · 08/04/2010 13:23

White dresses can be lovely - but I think it has to be a really hot, sunny day and that they need to be floaty/lacy, with flat sandals.

No tight/strapless WAGgery type white dresses with high heels. And no fake tan!
