Following on from here

Surely the sun will be out by the end of this thread?

OP posts:

MM - how awful for all of you. Poor GN - has she recovered? I imagine she must be mortified.

Tracey - no bikini here either - I tend to get him a lot of gap stuff (avoiding the dreaded ones with the big gap logo on)...some mini boden and also we have a kids shop near us called Igloo. Fiendishly expensive but sometimes they have some nice stuff in the sale. Luckily DS has a miraculous ability to make pretty much anything look cool. Not sure why (certainly not inherited from me). I think it's his hair (and of course his gorgeous face - not that I'm biased )

Georgina - no matter how cool clarks get I just cannot go there. I am damaged by being forced to wear the horrid black school shoes - I realise this is my loss.

The sunshine is making me smile. Took DD out for a walk without having to put her pushchair hood up and she was thrilled to be able to see everything.

traceybath · 02/03/2010 12:13

MM its this jacket in black. Seriously lovely in reality.

Gap have got some nice denim jackets at the moment.

Hells - we also do a lot of gap/boden for DS1 - he's becoming quite a dandy which is hilarious since he's had his pretty long hair cut fairly short.

Georgina - I do look in clarks but somehow they always seem to spoil their shoes in some way - they also are generally too big for my mutantly small feet.

GeorginaWorsley · 02/03/2010 12:13

You must be younger than me,HELLS
Comfort,I tell you!
At least not resorting to Footglove yet!

traceybath · 02/03/2010 12:44

Hells - possible bag?

hellsbelles · 02/03/2010 13:06

Tracey - I think that could be it - the colour is gorgeous! I will try and get back to Kew later in the week and see what it is like in RL. When I checked out their bags before I was impressed with how lovely and soft the leather is.

It is funny with DS's how they suddenly start being a bit more bothered about clothes isn't it?! DS isn't too bad - but he often gets compliments when he wears a bright green or bright blue jumper and I've noticed he often wants to wear them now because of it

Georgina - alas I am a comfort queen too...and even worse I HAVE RESORTED to footglove once or twice (I got a pair of sandals that everyone asked me about - in a good way I think ). I swear it's those horrid black shoes that have put me off clarks - certainly not the comfort aspect. I suspect I may now be thrown off the thread for the footglove admission.

hellsbelles · 02/03/2010 13:21

me again (can you tell I'm bored?!) outnet have just picked up the horrid paul & joe bag. - phew I had a relatively successful Gap trip. Got a flowery summer tank dress. Pretty I think and makes me long for brown legs and sandals. I can actually do ankle straps. The two parts of me that stay thin are my face (if you ignore the chins) and ankles. Every bit inbetween is a different story Tracey - I do have a denim jacket from gap - must start using it again.

I also got a 'useful' but uninspiring black top. No sign of the leather shirt in Gap. The lady told me it could be a month or so by which time I probably won't want to wear a leather shirt.

I have always avoided Kew (they do bizzare stuff in their window?!) but I got a long sleeved black tee shirt from there the other day and I have to admit it's rather good - nice and long and washes well (so far) so I went and got the same in teal. Bit cheaper than my AV and splendid ones...not as sheer but good as a basic.

traceybath · 02/03/2010 13:27

Hells - Am going to do a gap run tomorrow as Esher sounded like she'd got some nice stuff too.

Now what do we think of this dress. I've got 2 weddings coming up and wondered about a DVF wrap but are they terribly old hat? The style suits me and I like the colours in that one . . .

I am also bored - waiting for DD to wake from nap and dhl man to come.

So, are we going to brave a meet up in the summer in london perhaps?

traceybath · 02/03/2010 13:30

Esher - love the miu miu bag.

Libra how about this for maternity style. Am liking her bag very much.

hellsbelles · 02/03/2010 13:41

Tracey - I get that too - a sort of punishment for too much shopping - DD gets woken up by all the deliveries!

The dress is nice but I bet we can do better. When are the weddings?

I really like the Sara Cox bag - suspect it's many many £££'s!

How are you seeing the miu miu one? Everytime I click on the link it's broken.

LetThemEatCake · 02/03/2010 13:43

happy days .. 2nd day on the trot with NO COAT!!!

have been at park all morning with the boys, they are both now fast asleep and I have an hour or so before we need to go and pick up dd. Sunshine makes everything so much better. Now I just have to shift these last few pounds before the sun really comes out. Tracey you are nothing short of inspirational. DS2 seems to be getting the hang of the food thing so bfing should start to get less now ... let's see if it makes the same difference that it has done in the past.

MM my goodness, you poor thing. And poor Nan and dd. Your PILs sound a bit . I've got the pleasure of mine this weekend. SiLs to boot. What a lovely way to spend our 5th wedding anniversary. On which note, you will all have to help me come up with an outfit to wear on the weekend as I need to feel as fabulous as possible in their company. Good clothes are my armour.

back on the KG shoe thing - has anyone linked to these yet? I am rather taken with them.

Glad you;ve seen the last of that bag, hells. The one tracey linked to is very nice

hana were you after a yellow bag? I think I saw one in the Joules catalogue.

MM if you are in Dulwich Village any time soon, Question Air has some nice stuff. Lots of Splendid and Paul & Joe. BTW, just a heads-up - the myths and monsters ex at the Horniman is quite full on. My kids (taste for the macabre) love it and we have been 3 times already. But I have seen kids screaming and in tears. It's rather gruesome.

Oh, and on the ankle strap debate - a big yes from me. I love 'em. But I have quite skinny ankles and calves so a bit of detail down that way helps to balance out my thunderous thighs.

LetThemEatCake · 02/03/2010 13:45

tracey you are NOT wearing that dress on your newly tiny, toned frame. I don't care how conservo British weddings are, NO. You've got it baby, flaunt it. At least a bit!!

I would meet up, for sure. You all know everything about me anyway. hells don't be such a wuss

hellsbelles · 02/03/2010 13:59

LTEC - I love those shoes - it seems like every KG shoe is gorgeous at the moment.

Yes I am a wuss but if we do arrange a meet up I will come. Just feeling a bit blurghhhh as I've put a few lbs on from being a greedy pig little less strict on the healthy eating front.

LetThemEatCake · 02/03/2010 14:06

they are all gorgeous ... so which ones do I buy????

day-appropriate, not too high. That's all i want.

traceybath · 02/03/2010 14:15

I am loving those last sandals - may order them for myself . . .

scarf arrived and is gorgeous - ds2 said 'wow' and as he's only just very recently started speaking that is high praise indeed.

Right - so its a no to the dvf then

Have got one wedding at the end of March and one in June/July time.

OllieWollieWoo · 02/03/2010 15:05

Hi - lovely scarf Traceybath - especially like the colours. The Mums group I attend has an annual High Tea coming up (obviously without DC!) and this years theme is Breakfast at Tiffanys! Am overly excited about channelling my inner Audrey and have dug out a black shift dress, peep toed heels and a box style handbag. May go the whole hog and get some (fake) pearls as well! Can't wait!

bunjies · 02/03/2010 15:24

Those sandals are lovely LTEC.

OWW - what a lovely idea. Where will you be going?

I'm getting quite excited as I think I am going to be able to come over for a few days at the end of the month. Which means SHOPPING!!!!

hellsbelles · 02/03/2010 15:27

DD (13 months) is getting a bit of a taste for luxury - she literally jumped up and down today when I tried on my new oliver peoples sunglasses.

She then pulled my shearling gillet on the floor so she could roll in it! I can see wardrobe wars ahead

OWW- what fun

bunnymother · 02/03/2010 15:36

Tracey - I am with Cakey, that DVF dress is what you wear if you have put on weight (although not sure about it even then), not when you have lost weight. AMcQ scarf is beautiful! V . What about that Camilla & Marc dress Marsha linked

Cakey - no comment from me on the wooden / cloggy / platform shoes that you ladies have fallen for. If it helps, I don't dislike them as much as the others?

I should be doing housework/admin, but my nails are wet. Now, where is that Grazia...?

bunnymother · 02/03/2010 15:39

Oh, and London meet up sounds great (albeit terrifying - the pressure, the pressure!)!

bunnymother · 02/03/2010 15:45

What do we think of this Supertrash dress? Saw it in Grazia. Am sure nails must still be wet.

bunjies · 02/03/2010 15:50

Has anyone been to the Anthropologie store? There are some pretty dresses on their
website if you need something for a summer wedding.

OllieWollieWoo · 02/03/2010 16:08

Bunjies - haven't had a good browse on there for ages! Thank for the prompt! I luv this handbag - good way for me to get some nude colour into my wardrobe given how v pale I am! The reviews refer to an orange one as well - would have liked that too I expect! here

High tea will be in an hired room with everyone pitching in with food and decoration etc - the Mums group I go to meets twice a month - a creche takes care of the kids (with prof nursery workers) whilst us Mums get to have some me time and we have guest speakers (fab talk from a make-up artist recently), discussions, do the odd craft and scoff lots of homemade goodies. Its been great to meet other expats and have some time away from DC!

bunjies · 02/03/2010 16:19

Now I know I've got shopping withdrawal symptoms. I am now lusting after these

traceybath · 02/03/2010 16:35

OWW - that bag is gorgeous!

LibrasBiscuitsOfFortune · 02/03/2010 16:35

Good call on Anthropologie Love this neutral bag

Will catch up on posts later, DC supper to cook, oh the glamour...
