Following on from here

Surely the sun will be out by the end of this thread?

OP posts:
LetThemEatCake · 01/03/2010 19:40

Kurt Geiger is having quite the moment on this thread, no?

notyummy · 01/03/2010 19:41

I like that bag, and could see it in the summer with a lovely dress.

I, however, would have it filthy and scraped within a day and would forever regret having spend big bucks on it. I am just clumsy. I try - but it always happens. Same thing with manicures....utterly wasted as I smudge them within minutes of leaving the salon.

LetThemEatCake · 01/03/2010 19:42

hells honey, remond me of your bag brief again?

can't believe you ignored us on the Outnet one!! that's practically threadicide.

monkeysmama · 01/03/2010 19:57

OWW is the wedding an English people or Italians? What do you know about it? What time does it start, church then dinner? Italian weddings can involve outfit changes! The one before last I went to required 3 dresses for one day!

hellsbelles · 01/03/2010 20:09

Cake - I know I know. The outnet does that to me...I get so scared I'm going to lose a bargain that I end up ordering utter crap...I think I have kept just one thing I have ordered from there.

Summer bag brief...ahem - a bit of a mission impossible...I want something that will go with everything . I have never really had a good summer bag. I also default to my black winter bag which I know is wrong. So I guess a nice buttery soft neutral. I wish I could do little bags but I have a lot of stuff so it needs to be biggish and I need to be able to sling it over my shoulder! Phew - I know it may take a while to find the right one so I must be patient.

And yes - I love all the KG links right now. I'm positively being converted from my hasbeens

bunjies · 01/03/2010 20:17

Talking of bags, I am mad to think that this would be great for work? It comes in yummy colours (although I'd probably stick with chocolate), you could easily fit a netbook in there and best of all it has lots of lovely pockets. I love pockets, me. So, am I mad?!

carciofi · 01/03/2010 20:19

Blossoming, your DD is gorgeous!

Hells, did your DD take her first steps? The bag is fab.

Barbour arrived and is going back. I thought the lining was warmer but the style is called Flyweight so that should have given me a clue.

bunnymother · 01/03/2010 20:20

Hmm, Hells, your bag brief could have been written by me - will be watching the responses w interest! I also need tan and pewter sandals (both flat and w heel in each colour), so am looking for those.

Blossoming - what a happy, pretty cutie your DD was. V smiley.

Cakey - have been thinking about Carrie Bradshaw today (whilst wheeling DD about in her chariot for hours to take advantage of every minute of sunshine!!). I love her lifestyle, clothes and look, but her approach to both money and men is worrying. So can see where you are coming from loving Samantha, at least she runs her life well.

GeorginaWorsley · 01/03/2010 20:20

Talking of Kurt,LTEC I am sure those sandals you linked to were in the Style section of the Sunday Times yesterday!

LetThemEatCake · 01/03/2010 20:23

handle too short?

what about an Oushka Phoenix in Ash? I have it in plum and can vouch for the size and shoulderability...

hellsbelles · 01/03/2010 20:29

I like the ash a lot and have been thinking of it.

I think the straps are possibly a bit short on the MJ. And what does everyone do about the gold tone that is on all the handbags now? I really only wear silver tone stuff and I just feel like I must be clashing (also I feel a tiny bit 'bling' with gold)...am I being silly? Is it allowed? I just can't get used to it!

LibrasBiscuitsOfFortune · 01/03/2010 20:31

BOLLOCKS, I was reading something today and saw a replica of the Kew bag BUT WITH A LONGER strap and thought hmm must tell Hells about that and now can't remember. It was either ST Style magazine or Red. Will try and recall.

LTEC - depends, did you get out of breath? how long were you on for? As long as it was at least 10 minutes long then yes it would count as exercise. It is often recommended that if you can't do a 30minute block of exercise a day then you break it down to 3 10 minutes blocks and it would have similar health benefits.

bunjies - have you seen that bag IRL, personally I think they look very plasticy and have twee lining. Storksaks are much nicer.

OllieWollieWoo · 01/03/2010 20:40

They are re-running all the SITC shows on Dutch TV at 8pm every weekday evening so I have a lovley time re-living it all. (Up to when Steve and Aiden open the bar together and Carrie goes to the opening party and sees Aiden with short hair! Yum!)

Sorry - think I have misled you all - I'm not going to a wedding in Italy but thought one of us was - read a previous post and couldn't remember whose! Maybe it was a different thread altogether! Ooops! The wedding I have to buy for isn't til Oct and is the 3 day Dutch one where I'll need a ceremony outfit (fairly low key in a lovley old museum), formal dinner, brunch and then party with band/DJ etc. Thanks for useful comments - will wait and see if it comes into the LA shop over here and wait to be convinced!

eshermummy · 01/03/2010 20:42

Hello All
Been reading but not posting as DH been away all w/e and I have been on my tod with the dd's for what feels like a month now and just sooooooo tired!
DH away again next w/e can you believe it but see my revenge below.....

Blossoming - so sorry to hear about your dd. Really I cannot imagine the depth of your loss but wish you much love and strength to cope with it.

LTEC - I like the brown/black KG flats you linked to - EXACTLY my sort of summer shoe and as I've said before I heart KG/Carvela shoes. I did like the other higher ones but would have to see them on tbh.

Clogs - they've now got the hobbs ones I saw in a mag ages ago on the site - here, bottom row 3rd along. What do you think? I like them but am not sure whether I would get much wear as (a) too high for every day for me I think and (b) am not sure I could drive in them and as am in/out of car all day for school runs.....

Libra - I bought a cashmere sleeveless waterfall front waistcoaty thing in GAP today - lovely soft cashmere. I bought it in the beige but also had it in a dark blue/grey iirc. £95. Can't find a link for you. I can't decide whether the sleevelessness is a masterstroke or a flaw but it deffo is not mumsy.

Bought a few other things today:

Nude slightly tiedye effect fine wool scarf - Zara

Dark olivey/brown washed silk sleeveless shift with a safari type styling, two big pockets on front hips - Zara

Long sleeve nude tshirt - topshop

The GAP cashmere sleeveless waistcoaty thing

Coffee coloured tshirt (with little "distressed" holes in) with copper sequinned epaulettes - Zara

Grey acid wash oversized sweatshirt - 3/4 batwing sleeves, round neck, will look great with grey skinnies and hi-tops - only £14.99 from H&M.

DH is off to NYC next weekend and has offered to get me anything I want (within reason!) that is available at SAKs. Can you help me?
I was going to send him to Victoria's Secret to get these. Jeans I think too difficult as am not sure of sizing. I was thinking this handbag. Do you like the bag?
Anything else? Is there anything that is an absolute steal compared to UK prices?

LetThemEatCake · 01/03/2010 20:45

oh crikey yes bunny - lifestyle, clothes, look - fab. Annoying whiny voice? no. Neediness? no. Little girl-iness? No. The way she writes her column (reclining position, frilly knickers, wistful gaze, ever-so-slightly furrowed brow etc) NO. I take this very personally!! I don't write this way so neither, DAMMIT, should she!!!!

Samantha has a ribald irreverence which makes me LOL. I love people who make me laugh

do you mean the glossy mag bit GW? it's upstairs by the bed, awaiting my ravenous perusal!!

bunjies I've bought from Happybags and they've great customer service .. I bought a ramalama though .. not keen on the L&L sorry

re: the shoe thing. I have a pair of red cork wedges and a pair of tan wooden heels from SS08. Would it be wrong to buy some KG shoes?? Can I just 'make do' with what I already have?

on the looking after your clothes question, I am dead impressed with my JL debobbler. Also bought anti-moth bags as recommended by dexter, plus sachets etc. Am pretty good with my clothes - every hung, drycleaned, handwashed (kind of) repaired etc. And I have a quick turnover too, so nothing gets too trashed in my keeping

eshermummy · 01/03/2010 20:53

Hells - saw this irl today - was really really soft leather. I liked it a lot, although is slightly more grey than beige as per your brief.

I heart gold toned "hardware" on bags but I am a bit of a sucker for a bit of bling

GeorginaWorsley · 01/03/2010 20:54

LTEC The Style magazine supplement, yes.Had a big section on accessories.
Saw my fav Whistles Swallow print dress in the Times itself today,Lisa Armstrong wrote a piece about John lewis.
Am soerly tempted by Whistles dress....
sorry,can't find a link though!

LetThemEatCake · 01/03/2010 20:58

oh esher what a pain. I hate the single mum thing. My dh is set to be away for 5 whole weeks in summer doing the world cup!!! so not even any good shopping opps out of it!!

am seriously contemplating flying maman over

LetThemEatCake · 01/03/2010 21:00

impressive haul btw!!

hellsbelles · 01/03/2010 21:06

thanks Esher...I shall check it out t/m as I have a day with DD and there is an Oasis nearby. I suspect the bag may have to be a RL purchase rather than an online one. Also inspired by you I shall check out my local gap. I have had a few nice things from there recently. They fluctuate so much don't they? One day I can go in and find literally nothing (apart from stuff for DCs) and then another day I'll want loads of stuff.

eshermummy · 01/03/2010 21:12

Yes, v impressive considering I didn't even "fancy" shopping today
In my defence, I took back 2 stripey breton tops from Oasis and am thinking of returning the monsoon tshirt dress I had delivered the other day so a lot of what I buy does go straight back whence it came!

LetThemEatCake · 01/03/2010 21:23

good lord esher - you do not ever have to justify your purchases on this thread!!

by the way - if you do take that monsoon one back but fancy a less expensive Breton-plus-embellishment, I saw this and thought of you.

and yes I do like the Kors bag but is it not a bit mulberry-esque? I thought you didn't like that look so much.. love the navy though.

VerityBrulee · 01/03/2010 21:26

OMG Cakey 5 weeks alone with 3 under 4 You'd better start saving, if I were you I'd be doing a lot of stress relieving shopping around that time! Could you get an au pair?

Esher I got the same scarf in Zara, I love nude shades so I'm really having a 'moment' now

Carciofi I did get the boden straight legs and they are really nice, quite skinny but not skin tight. I got the china blue as I had a hankering for really blue jeans and they will be lovely for summer. I did read the reviews though and a lot of people said the fabric for the white jeans was quite thin, but if you can get free returns and delivery code they are worth a try.

Libra don't worry, i'm not offended

Bunny what a beautiful girl

OP posts:
eshermummy · 01/03/2010 21:42

It certainly is reminiscent of the bayswater but for some reason I like the Kors one whereas the bayswater still leaves me cold - somehow seems less buttoned up/prim.I like the chunky chain on the shoulder strap too. It is also substantially cheaper which helps .
Having said that, am still looking for the NYC bag purchase - showed DH this and he went a bit pale and reminded me that sterling is at a 5 year low against the dollar

LetThemEatCake · 01/03/2010 21:50

I'm not bovvered either - sorry esherdaddy. That bag is a winner.
