Happy Birthday VB !!!!

LetThemEatCake · 09/03/2010 22:05

revisiting Barbour links - hold it right there

LetThemEatCake · 09/03/2010 22:09

backtracking .. why do you need a waterproof? It's about to be summer!!!

VerityBrulee · 09/03/2010 22:11

Esher I had a slightly too big pair of boots and bought a pair of sheepskin insoles for them. I have LIVED in them all winter, the comfort off Uggs without the ugliness. In future I will buy all winter boots a half size too big so I can do this.

Btw, I saw a fantastic raincoat made from something very similar to wetsuit fabric. There was a whole thread about it, I'll look for it for you.

Here's the coat threadI even did a test run of it! Very tempted to flog off my spotty boden one and get this instead. If there is one thing I get good cost per wear from, it's a rain coat.

Dh getting impatient now, see you all tomorrow!

OP posts:
eshermummy · 09/03/2010 22:24

Verity - where did you get your sheepskin liners from? Am seriously considering getting some.

LTEC - you don't have to do the school run yet do you?
As of next term I will be walking DD1 to school (which I am delighted about - long story) but it invariably pisses it down at 3pm every day. Last year, June/July was horrendously wet........

LetThemEatCake · 09/03/2010 22:26

where've you gone esher?? Okay. honest opinion - I don't like any of those and don't see the point of a waterproof that doesn't cover your bum.

Thirdly, don't succumb to the home county thing. Just don't. You;re way more rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr than that. Live in glorious, inappropriate defiance. You get wet? you'll dry.

LetThemEatCake · 09/03/2010 22:28

ooops, cross post.

Okay, I take your point. Bum coverage still essential!!! Just think: black rats or drowned rat??

eshermummy · 09/03/2010 22:34

Thanks for that thread Verity - will look at the danish one properly tomorrow.

AllBuggiedOut · 09/03/2010 22:39

quick hijack sorry just to wish VB happy birthday, thank her for the fab tip about the coat (Avoca in Dublin posted one to me in the UK) and say that spookily, I have a spotty Boden one too

Cake you speak sense - the lack of bum coverage was bothering me, don't want to pay that much and it still not do the job. But seriously, DD1 has only been at school for 2 terms and I already feel like I spend half my life freezing my arse off at those school gates . But I CANNOT wear one of those mountaineering cagoule things
Verity's danish wetsuit looks promising.

eshermummy · 09/03/2010 22:45

Hana - got to go to bed now but will look at your thread tomorrow - although am rubbish at finding things. Skirts are so hard aren't they? I have two patterned skirts myself that I was thinking of starting threads about as simply cannot find right tops to wear with them.
I did look at Aigle earlier today, will look again.

Night all x

I'm about to read through and catch up but have a dilemma in the meantime I need your help with. Some of you may recall I have lots of sisters & one who was 30 earlier this year who is pretty damn splendid. She is going to a wedding later this year (June) & the story is a long one but its her ex dp getting married. She needs to look stunning. She is naturally beautiful - blonde, emerald green eyes, olive skin , size 12 with 32G bust. She likes wearing green, grey or yellow. She has tried on & fallen in love with this dress. I'm
not convinced but wonder if anyone has seen anything similar (or something else that'd be good)? She works for a charity so the dress she has seen is totally out of her range and can spend £250 max with my help .

Hana the layla is a v good suggestion. Cheers me dear.

KristinaM · 10/03/2010 00:01

I tried on the Layla dress a few weeks ago and its really lovely. the taupe is beautiful but the oyster suited me better. i am a size 10 and 32FF and it was very flattering for the large of nork

it would just need a fab pair of earrings and killer heels. definitely classy rather than sexy IYSWIM

all saints stores don't give refunds though ( only store credit) so I would recommend buying online. they are very very quick at processing returns and refunding your money

HTH

sorry about not getting to top shop

matildamum · 10/03/2010 08:02

Morning

On the subject of All Saints, how do the dresses come up size wise? I love the Layla dress, am thinking it could be good for a couple of weddings I have coming up. I'm 5'8" size 10 with straight up and down rather than curvy figure. Boobs not what they once were, can just about make a 34C in a good bra . Would you plump for a 10?

Bonsoir · 10/03/2010 08:05

traceybath - toulemonde bochart have loads of amazing rugs to choose from. Take a browse!

hellsbelles · 10/03/2010 08:21

blast - deleted my post!

MM - Your sister sounds so beautiful!

Layla is gorgeous and on my wish list (just need an event to wear it to).

CAn I have views on this. I know it's a lot, even with the 25% discount....but I think it will go with a lot of my stuff (skinnies, current elliots)....should I wait till a cheaper high street version comes up or just discard altogether!

notyummy · 10/03/2010 08:27

Thanks for all the tips for good online sites. Hadn't looked at urban outfitters before, so will have a browse this evening.

LTEC I like the espadrilles. I have both a blue and black pair that look very similar that I have dragged out over the past few summers (if you can call them that.)

My top tips for cornish caravan parks would be cheap maxi dresses that you wont mind getting grubby, shorts and wedges. Deisclaimer: I have never been to a cornish caravan park. However I have been here so lovely. We have been twice and are going again this year in August. It is amazing and I can thoroughly recommend this location, and the service we have got from the company - spotless accommodation etc. The site is in pine woods overlooking a medieval Italian hilltop town that has some lovely restaurants and bars, and is within walking distance. You can cycle to the beach or just chill at the pool. We will back in August (before dd starts reception - sob!) and have the Italy bug so are going here Lake Garda

Can I tempt you away from Cornwall at all??

notyummy · 10/03/2010 08:30

hells - like the jacket, however as you say, it is quite pricey. It depends on how much you REALLY need it I guess! I am sure that I have seen fairly similar in both Warehouse and Oasis. Will have a quick look.

carciofi · 10/03/2010 08:32

Hells, I like it, you can always return it if you don't think it is worth the pricetag.

Esher, I returned a Barbour recently as I didn't want to spend that much on a raincoat that wouldn't keep me dry.

I might have to head into Avoca to check out the Ilse Jacobsen raincoat, Verity!

Heading to the airport soon, bye!

notyummy · 10/03/2010 08:37
