Following on from here

Surely the sun will be out by the end of this thread?

notyummy - me too Do you think I should try and persuade my mother who is over 60 and marrying for a second time that those dresses would be appropriate!? I just long to see one up close!

notyummy · 09/03/2010 19:51

or perhaps.....

notyummy · 09/03/2010 19:53

It's not going to happen is it?

On a different note, somehow I have lived my life up until this point having never visited the My Wardrobe site.

Having now done so, I am astonished at how healthy and well rounded the models look.

Quelle surprise!

traceybath · 09/03/2010 19:53

Regarding house stuff - Bonsoir I think you recommended ages ago the candy striped bedlinen from cologne and cotton.

Well I bought the ds's the pale blue sets and they look lovely on their little wrought iron beds (ikea special).

I need a new rug for my sitting room - a natural colour ideally - where can I get nice rugs from?

hellsbelles · 09/03/2010 20:00

not yummy - you can also get 25% off with the amex25 code!

I'm off to watch a DVD - and when I come back I hope to see lots of home styling advice I can steal be inspired by

Night all.

hellsbelles · 09/03/2010 20:05

Tracey - I think they are supposed to be good

I must go.

carciofi · 09/03/2010 20:27

Verity - happy birthday!

QOTD - I buy loads of books.

Bonsoir, thank you, you recommended Avene before, I started using it and really like it.

Will keep an eye on the home fashion as we will hopefully buy somewhere within the year.

oh dear, I'm afraid I have zero interest in house stuff

but if anyone shares my passion for cards & stationery, Hello Lucky is one of my favourites.

My-wardrobe have refunded the canvas tote rather than issuing store credit!! Prob not a bad thing ... and makes me even more about my £1 buy today.

LetThemEatCake · 09/03/2010 20:36

Oh Verity!!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! May you have chocolate in many forms - brownies and Bayswaters

eshermummy · 09/03/2010 20:50

Hi all

Sorry to hear so many little ones are ill, hope they all get better soon.

I have heard mutterings from some about a curb on spending......I think I may be in this camp too, if only because virtually everything I have bought in the last month is still sitting piled up on the chair in my dressing room as yet unworn due to the blardy freezing weather we are having. On the plus side have been getting lots of wear out of my maxmara shearling coat as it is the ideal and not oft seen combo of very cold yet dry . Off on hols in 1 week so just picking up a few last bits to supplement my summer hols wardrobe

LTEC - love that vortex rats top although I would imagine the outfit could cause a bit of a stir on my school run. Am not sure about the trackie bottom trousers - I love them from about mid thigh downwards but a drawstring waist doesn't really do anyone any favours does it and if you wear a long top it just looks lumpy underneath?
Like that cashmere rats top but as hells pointed out for amazonian bints only

DH on his way back from NYC later tonight. Apparently he couldn't get my leather leggings - only available online not instore . He got me this bag in the end in the tan with silver hardware, he said he preferred it to the Mby MJ one in the flesh. We'll see.....
Sent him to see if he could find the brown leather shirt (was in Sun times Style mag a few weeks ago) in Gap but apparently they just looked at him like he was a loon. Have also seen pics in mags of a leather tshirt from wallis that looks good but have a feeling both these items are in the annoying category of items only ever seen in magazines and certainly not out in the provinces .

Noone commented as to whether I should keep these - so I did . I think they would look good with a rats style top in navy or cobalt blue - saw this but not sure. Anyone seen anything suitable?

I have also been surfing the net today in pursuit of a barbour . I NEVER thought I would hear myself say that but hey-ho that's home counties living for ya!
I got to Barbour whilst thinking about a waterproof jacket for the school run - I want something that is properly waterproof, taped seams etc but I simply cannot wear a berghaus style cagoule thing.
Do you think this or this is likely to be properly waterproof? Presumably this is but it's sold out in my size. What else would do the job of a berghaus cagoule that isn't a berghaus cgaoule?

BTW, I would be interested in a house thread but think it should be separate - I can hardly keep up with the clothing links as it is!

Fleecy · 09/03/2010 20:52

Happy birthday Verity!

I have ordered the Steve Madden sandals but not on Amazon - I noticed that although the picture was white, the listing was for a black pair of sandals. Anyhoo, I found a buy it now auction on eBay and they have good feedback so I went for it. £33 inc postage. Will report back when they arrive.

Sorry to hear the Gap chinos haven't arrived. I still haven't had the chance to wear mine yet anyway though!

I love house stuff. We have re-done our kitchen and dining room. Bathrooms are next, then living room. I already have plans...

Fleecy · 09/03/2010 20:57

x-posts with you esher - I'm longing to wear all my spring stuff but just haven't had the weather for it. So fed up with my winter wardrobe now but there's no point in buying more.

Come on warmer weather, play nice!

notyummy · 09/03/2010 20:58

Would be interested in finding out what online shopping emporiums you ladies particularly rate....?

Obviously nap and M-W - but where else is good? Any no-nos? Never used ASOS actually, so would be interested in thoughts.

Fleecy · 09/03/2010 21:05

eBay

I can't believe I've only recently discovered it for clothes. I've been buying baby stuff on it for ages, buggy etc, but never stuff for me.

I also like the MW models. They're a good, healthy size so I get more of a sense of how the clothes would look on me.

I like asos because they have a good range of styles and prices, but some of their stuff isn't brilliant quality. And there's so much on there it can be hard to navigate the site at times.

traceybath · 09/03/2010 21:14

Esher - where are you going on holiday - somewhere hot I hope

I am so bored with winter clothes - I want to wear my clogs [stamps foot emoticon].

God - I am way too obsessed with my weight - thought I'd put weight on this morning and it really put a dampener on my day. Then realised batteries on the blink in my scales - new batteries, normal weight and happy again - oh dear.

Have had fun this evening trying to style my 17 year old niece whose got a big night out coming up. Worryingly - we like the same things which means she's either extremely stylish or I am way too muttony.

Got Vogue yesterday and Kate Moss is on the cover - why oh why! Am really going off UK vogue - has fewer interesting articles and the fashion is nowhere near as lovely as US vogue (love Grace especially after watching the september issue).

Hells - love that figleaves cover up you linked to earlier. I picked up a heidi klein kaftan in a shop in bath on sunday but it was over £200 which I'm afraid is way too much for me when its going to get covered in suntan lotion.

LTEC - good result on charity shop bag.

Regarding online shops - asos very good and prompt customer service.

LetThemEatCake · 09/03/2010 21:17

esher can't believe I missed the Zoe leggings!!

Think you just need a plain tee with them, that Toast neck detail isn't working for me with the slight "beachy/ hippie" connotations of the tie-dye.

I know what you mean about the joggy botts and tbh I wouldn't go there but love the thought of being a few inches taller and whippet thin to boot, and wearing them insouciantly with a Chesty Bonds tucked in (thus no drawstring issues).

Glad you've survived the days without dh and hope the bag is lush in RL!!

notyummy - I find ASOS to be quite good, esp for 'disposable' seasonal fashion. Stuff arrives quickly, P&P is very reasonable (or free) returns are free, easy and processed quickly. Am also a recent convert to Urban Outfitters.

LetThemEatCake · 09/03/2010 21:19

did anyone ever comment on the red espadrilles?? Are they okay or frumparama??

matildamum · 09/03/2010 21:27

Hello ladies

I don't manage to post on here very often but try and follow the thread when I get a chance. Hope all the poorly DCs and their mummies are on the mend.

Was out in the garden having a bonfire(!) today so not dressed particularly stylishly in ancient Helly Hansen puffa gilet and Joules wellies when the lovely DHL man arrived with my bronze Ash hi-tops. THey are just GORGEOUS, so thank you to LTEC and esher for the recommendation.

Am also very tempted by the seahorse necklace LTEC...would it be very bad to treat myself for Mother's Day as DH in NZ so unlikely to get breakfast in bed?!! ... and LTEC would you mind as feel a bit guilty for copying you, even though we are unlikely to bump into one another in the street...?

LetThemEatCake · 09/03/2010 21:35

oh my word matildamum don't be daft. That's what this thread is for - so that we can all copy inspire each other! It's a beautiful necklace and I order you to get it!! Just make sure you use the AMEX25 discount code. So pleased you like the high-tops, they're gorgeous aren't they? I am so tempted to get the gold ones, esp now that esher has said they are zipped .. but I have black and silver already so that would be a tad silly.

As silly as the fact that I have precisely 2 evening social occasions of any import coming up in the next month or two and I have already planned outfits for both Bfing really isn't doing my social life any favours.

Might start planning my holiday outfits next. Hmm, how best to razzle dazzle them in a Cornish caravan park?

vesela · 09/03/2010 21:37

delurking to say that I recently bought from MyWardobe for the first time (this - looks a bit straight on the model but is good belted, as the Farhi site suggests) and was overjoyed that they sent me a DHL shipping number automatically, without my having to drag it out of them. And they only charge £10 to ship to the EU, which is good for a courier (although I don't like couriers since I always end up playing box and cox with them, whereas PO stuff I can pick up at my leisure).

For anyone who likes Noa Noa, this shop shop has a good online range (better than e.g. Inis, I think) and only charged me £3.95 to deliver to the EU! I bought this dress which I love.

But yes, where is spring? I also have a yen for cobalt blue, ideally something cottony and sundressy.

traceybath · 09/03/2010 21:38

Nights out - how exciting.

I know bf does curtail one's social life but DD is now getting on for 8 months and its a particularly edible stage.

Right off to bed as so tired. LTEC - I just don't know how you do work in the evening - you have way more energy than me.

eshermummy · 09/03/2010 21:48

Tracey - we are off to Eygpt - checked the weather today and it was 32C

LTEC - I like the espadrilles, not mumsy imo although maybe better with jeans than skirts if you want to avoid any mumsy-risk - in fact you have reminded me that I have a pair of espadrille wedges lurking somewhere.....

VerityBrulee · 09/03/2010 21:55

Thanks for all the birthday wishes Had a lovely day, had to cook my own birthday dinner and cake as dh at work, but it was lovely nonetheless. Those brownies are to die for, there are a few left over, I'll have one for breckie then slip the rest into the dcs lunchboxes so they are not tempting me!

So sorry to hear of all the poorly dcs. Dd who is astonishingly healthy has a dreadful cough and had to stay at home yesterday, so lots of coloring and sticking going on here. This has been a long, hard winter and even though the sun is shining it is bitterly cold. I long to take the dc out for lovely warm afternoons in the park when I'm not nagging them to keep on coats, hats and gloves. Hope your LOs are all on the mend soon.

I like the espadriles LTEC if you can run in them and they are leg lengthening then I'd hold onto them.

My lovely mum gave me an early birthday present last month, then some money for my shoe fund today, soooo....I really have to buy some shoes!

Off to watch a dvd, but I doubt I'll make it to the end. At my age I need a good 8 hours sleep

OP posts:
eshermummy · 09/03/2010 22:02

Matildamum - glad you like the hi-tops

LTEC - I was toying with the idea of a 3rd pair of Ash hi-tops too but also have so far desisted. I have the black/grey croc and gold ones, was thinking of getting the silver.....
Still haven't worn mine outdoors yet this year tho' - too blardy cold.
I was even looking at these as an inbetween measure but they are not really very nice are they? Do you think I could buy sheepskin hi-top liners to put in my Ash's though?

Cakey - what thinkest thou as to my barbour dilemma?
