Following on from here

Surely the sun will be out by the end of this thread?

Did anyone else find Charlize Therons dress just odd, why would the stylist advice to wear something like that?

OllieWollieWoo · 08/03/2010 08:09

Very odd Libra - its like its advertising where her boobs are!

KristinaM · 08/03/2010 08:24

a agree about the dress charlize in wearing

most of the rest seemed lovely, will have a proper look after work & school/nursery runs

bunjies · 08/03/2010 08:32

Morning all - is it just me but I do not like Kelly Brook's dress at all. What are they talking about, she looks like a flamenco dancer but in a bad way.

bunjies · 08/03/2010 08:47

I do like SJP's though. Gorgeous, although I thought she'd be wearing Halston.

monkeysmama · 08/03/2010 09:00

I love SJP's dress too though she looks an odd colour. WTF is Mariah Carey wearing? I know she has no taste whatsoever but that dress is foul. J-Lo looks quite pretty but her dress is like a big drape of bubble wrap.

notyummy · 08/03/2010 09:37

Hello all.

Well, I have had a nice weekend and we had friends round for dinner last night. Their DS is the same age as DD and they play nicely. Unfortunately we hit the wine heavily after they went to bed, and I am feeling blarrrggggghhhh this AM. And their DS woke up at 5am and wouldn't go back to sleep, so apart from DD, who can slee[p through anything, no one got much sleep!

She is now off to nursery and I am 'working from home', which is code for resting my head on my hands and occasionally going to swill my mouth out with mouthwash.

Will have a look at Oscar frocks in an attempt to divert brain from the pain.

Also, those of you with harem pants, are you petite and small of bottom? I haven't ventured there yet and am really not sure they would flatter me. Am tall, fairly well toned but a definite pear shape (10 on top and 12 on bottom.)

notyummy · 08/03/2010 09:52

oscar dress porn

OK, thoughts so far IMHO.

Helen Mirren - as usual, great.

Jenifer Lopez - a tiny bit to pouffy for my taste, but actually I think she looks beautiful.

VB: Very elegant, although needs to eat some pies.

Carey Mulligan: Like the dress.

Signourey Weaver: Please, please let me look like that when I am 60.

Chralize Theron - No, no, no. Looks like a crumpled mess with a meringue suspended over each boob.

hellsbelles · 08/03/2010 10:04

urghhh - DD still poorly so it's the drs for us. I shall attempt to do it with style but unlikely to win. My main criteria right now is that something is machine washable and doesn't show up vomit!

Love VB & Cameron Diaz's dresses and a few of the others. Agree on Kelly Brook - she looks good but I wouldn't say she is the most amazing brit there (as they were saying on some websites)

PlumSykes · 08/03/2010 10:21

Cameron Diaz is a stunner, love SJP's dress but she looks like she's been tandooried.

The rest look pretty blah, and even speaking as a fan of skinny, some look horribly scrawny.

In other news, having washed and styled my hair myself, I am getting used to it. When I wake up, it looks like this but once I've styled it, is more like this

Whe DH gets home, will get him to take a pic. If I'm then feeling brave, will put it on my profile.

hellsbelles · 08/03/2010 10:46

without you lot to guide me (and with little sleep)...I ordered this maxi dress

and bought these shoes

I know you will probably all hate them. The shoes are so comfortable and I've been desperate to find comfortable high shoes for ages. And they make my legs look nice

notyummy · 08/03/2010 10:51

Loving the maxi dress Hellbelles- you must let us know if it is flattering on, as I could be interested! I am tall, so love maxi dresses....however that might be hard for my size 12 hips to carry off.

Not sure about the shoes - but will take your word for it!

MarshaBrady · 08/03/2010 11:06

Love that maxi dress Hells.
Great shoe site, am going to have a peruse (they mentioned that brand in Liberty as a good one, but couldn't remember name, so good one).

Plum give your hair two weeks, I find even with small cuts / or highlights it takes me two weeks to like it.

traceybath · 08/03/2010 11:14

Hells - hope DD is better soon. Love the dress and the shoes - I really want the otelo heels I linked to earlier by Chie Mihara.

However have been doing some budgeting this morning and I need to stop spending for a bit.

Am going to try and ebay some stuff this week and next - dull but necessary.

Plum - glad you're getting used to your hair.

Re. oscars - thought VB looked fab - Kelly Brook looked like she should be in a bordello offering her services to John Wayne [bitchy emoticon].

bunjies · 08/03/2010 11:17

Love the dress Hells but not sure about the shoes. They do look comfortable though. Sorry to hear dd is still unwell. I hope you get an answer at the drs.

Tracey - thanks for the recipe. Will try all recipes as soon as I can get hold of some courgettes.

noddyholder · 08/03/2010 11:20

I LOVE the shoes

VerityBrulee · 08/03/2010 11:23

VBs version of the Leon Brownie recipe

They have espresso, cold-pressed orange oil and extra chocolate chunks, which I left out either because I didn't have them or didn't want the extra calories! This is the version I made and it was delicious. As with any cake made with ground almonds, it's even nicer the next day if you have the restraint to leave it

180g butter
200g dark chocolate (54% cocoa)
4 eggs
100g ground almonds
150g sugar
100g pecans or walnuts or almonds
pinch salt
3-4 drops vanilla escence

Preheat oven to 180 degrees
Melt butter and chocolate in a small pan, mix well and leave to cool
Mix eggs, almonds, nuts and sugar.
Add salt and vanilla
Add chocolate and butter mixture
Don't over mix
Put mixture into a 30 x 30 cm tin
Take care not to overbake, the brownie is ready when the edges are slightly crusty and the centre is still soft. The middle should be very moist but have a firmish feel to it.

Off to look at the oscar dresses!

LTEC my love I thought of you and your beautiful baby girl when I saw these ones.

VerityBrulee · 08/03/2010 11:33

Helles I love the shoes, looking for something similar, so thanks for the inspiration

Plum It does take a while to get used to short hair. I cropped mine a couple of years ago and it took my a few days and lots of different products to get it the way I wanted. I bought loads of different gels, waxes etc, but the best I found was Pantene smooth and sleek mousse, cheap as chips from boots.

OP posts:
blossoming · 08/03/2010 11:50

Please post a photo plum! I had cropped hair through my 20s and still really like it. That VB shot is great. Sulking as can't open oscar dresses links. Dh working from home on pc.
Have put weight back on. Mantra for the week: deliver me from gluttony.

monkeysmama · 08/03/2010 12:09

I have searched the thread but can't find if there is an asos code?

DolceeBanana · 08/03/2010 12:16

Reporting that Nails Inc shade (similar to 505) is actually quite good. Was worried after OPI seemed to have bad press. Nails don't look 'bashed in'...quite good coverage but still waiting for the 'real thing' as Chanel do it so well...

Really didn't get the Chanel counter woman at all...she was wearing it on hideously long talons...nah, short nails definitely.

Now, like the look of the Ash hi tops...where did you actually get yours esher (?(but I'd have to have a neutral/dark colour- not a gold person at all)...thanks!

GeorginaWorsley · 08/03/2010 12:17
