Forgot to say: I've never worn anything from topshop.

hellsbelles · 07/03/2010 14:09

Hello all, bet you all didn't notice I was gone I've meanwhile been having palpatations at not being able to get on MN. Finally emailed MN towers (yes yes I was desperate - don't snigger) and discovered Geraldine needed to unblock my IP address.

DD is on the mend today (though nappies are rather interesting)

Will catch up - I'm afraid I've been a few purchase without your guidance and I suspect there may be a few faces. Will post links later.

bunjies · 07/03/2010 14:21

Of course we noticed hells!

That's really sad Verity. The woman of one of ds' former classmates died suddenly of a brain aneurism last year and it was all very shocking. She just collapsed one day and died 4 days later. She had recently split from her 3 dc father so they had a double whammy in the space of 6 months. It was very, very .

I would love to have the brownies recipe. I love going to Leon when I'm up West (as we used to say when I were a teen - oh yes I'm from East London) or at Bluewater [checks noone is listening] and always have one of their no flour brownies. I've even got some ground almonds in.

LetThemEatCake · 07/03/2010 14:31

Excuse me hells but I was lamenting your absence a few pages back!! Glad you're with us again and dd on mend

Verity, I have the Leon book too.. Can you guess when I bought it?

LetThemEatCake · 07/03/2010 14:32

Shhh bunjies... I love bluewater

bunjies · 07/03/2010 14:59

cake.

Aah, I love that post Sunday lunch, couple of glasses of red feeling.

I reckon I might get some of those Uniqlo jeans posted about on another thread. I rather like the look of the mulberry coloured ones.

bunjies · 07/03/2010 15:11

Cute bargain denim jacket. Sadly I think this will be too small for me.

OllieWollieWoo · 07/03/2010 15:12

Ooh Blossoming - thanks for the review! Have popped a couple of pairs in my basket! I'm with you on the never show bum in leggings thing!

I used to love a quick trip out to Bluewater when I lived in London! Remember going on my own with DS1 who was 2 weeks old and attempting doing one of those handprints in clay pictures in JL (what was I thinking?!) He screamed the whole time and the lady doing it said I had a very stressed little boy! I cried all the way back to the car!

In-laws have just left after a short visit - they turned up over an hour early cos MIL needed the loo!!!!!!

bunjies · 07/03/2010 16:25

I've just done something very cynical by buying 4 bottles of the Chanel 505 from a French online boutique and am planning to sell them on ebay for a profit. I'm hoping I can at least cover the cost of my recent ebay purchases . I'm bad aren't I?

VerityBrulee · 07/03/2010 17:30

Just taking a break from making dinner, bunjies I'll post the recipe later.

I think you are being very enterprising with the 505!A few years ago I bought about 5 sequin shrugs in Primark, which had been featured in Vogue, for about a tenner each, sold them on ebay, I mostly for over 20 pounds, but I remember someone paying over 40 pounds for one. I bought long chocolate Uggs with the proceeds

Bunjies - you can use plain flour instead of rice flour. I've just made the White Rabbits which are little almondy cupcakes, recipe follows:

Ingredients for cakes

1 med egg
50g caster sugar
100g finely grated courgette
1tsp almond extract
25g white rice flour
60g ground almonds
1tsp baking powder

For Icing

125g icing sugar
1tbsp water
1tsp vanilla extract
1tsp almond extract

You will need 2 12 hold baby muffin trays and 24 mini cupcake cases

  • Preheat oven to 160 degree C/325 degree F or gas mark 3. Line your tins with the cases.
  • Whisk together the eggs and sugar until very light and fluffy - takes a few minutes in my kitchenaid
  • Add grated courgette and almond extract and mix until combined
  • Add all the other cake ingredients and mix until combined
  • Spoon into the cases - leaving half a cm at the top so they don't explode over the top
  • Bake for 15 mins then take them out and cool on wire rack
  • To make the icing mix all the ingredients together until smooth - you may need a drop more water.
  • Then ice each cake and add whatever decoration you like.
  • I put a fresh raspberry on each of mine.

Right onto clothes now

Esher - I saw the lovely sandals you liked in Toast today - they are gorgeous.

Tried on a lovely dress in jigsaw - sort of drapey khaki colour that could be belted in different ways. Not on their website yet. The only thing was that its lyocell and I'm not sure how that wears.

Had a nice afternoon meeting a friend for coffee and pottering around the shops with only DD. However instant grumpiness when I walked into house and realised how much mess DH plus 2 ds's can make when I'm not around.

Roman - hope your new stuff looks fab.

Blossoming - sounds like you had a very good day indeed.

traceybath · 07/03/2010 19:56

LTEC - glad yesterday was ok - have you managed to celebrate your anniversary at all?

Also - is anyone doing harem trousers? I'm too short aren't I??

monkeysmama · 07/03/2010 19:58

Only rushing in but Bunjies I hope you are the only other person to see the Current Elliot denim jacket. I've been watching it since it was listed and it is going to be mine.

monkeysmama · 07/03/2010 20:46

Evening ladies

Blossoming I enjoyed your update .

Hels glad your dd is better.

Cakey wish I'd seen your post earlier - I would've be out seeing if I could spot you. (I didn't watch your film debut so it would've been fun looking out for a beautiful woman with a Phoenix Oushka, OP shades, 3 stunning DC, big feet and a star tattoo ). Hope you had a nice day. We drove past the market earlier on our way for lunch and it was heaving.

Had a busy outdoorsy weekend but been so happy to be in the sunshine.

Posted loads of shoes on eBay this evening so am very pleased with myself. None of my first listings have finished yet so I haven't made anything yet though I am doing well spending . I am interested to see what the Aftershock dress is like.

I have a shopping dilemma. I bought a jacket in Topshop a few weeks ago. Look here and hover mouse over 'View All' button and it is the one on the right. I love it so much and have since seen it in several magazines. However, when I got it home I realised it was too big to wear over summer vests etc so got my sister to take it back earlier in the week to swap it. They didn't have the smaller size in the shop but said they'd order one in for me. My sister was in another TS later in the week and saw on in the right size but didn't buy it as the first shop had my money still. So I made a flying stop yesterday to collect it (they said to go in Saturday) and they don't have it as they've sold out. I said I'd keep the original and they said they'd sold it. They gave me my money back but now I have no jacket and am a bit and . They don't have it on the website. Very annoying.

I like Bluewater too but keep it quiet. I'm an Eastender too Bunjies.

I've missed loads of links and things I think but seem to have picked up that you have an interview Romanarama - good luck.

Enough rambling.

I am going to have a glass of wine.

monkeysmama · 07/03/2010 21:01

Me again. I forgot something....

Tracey I love harem trousers and have 4 new pairs waiting for spring alongside my range of nude tops. I think the key is to go for a tailored harem with ruching on the legs not a baggy nappy style. So more these or the first pair of trousers on here and definitely not these.

reallygrumpy · 07/03/2010 21:16

Hi,

Just a v quick ques - does anyone have a discount code for my wardrobe or asos?

Ta!

Fleecy · 07/03/2010 21:40

I have some black harem trousers but they have a massive rolled over waistband and I don't have many tops I can wear over the top - and they don't look right with tops tucked in. So I don't wear them much.

I would quite like some tailored ones.

I have worn them to my Body Jam class - but having seem Pineapple Dance Studios on Sky I'll feel like a total wannabe if I do that again!

mm what size are your feet? I might like to look at your listings if you're my size

eshermummy · 07/03/2010 21:41

REALLYGRUMPY - last week MYFRIENDS30 was 30% off at m/w - otherwise try AMEX25 for 25% - don't know if either is still working.

Was just popping on quickly for some wise and avid advice.

Am just sorting out my Outnet return and can't decide about these leggings. The fabric is lovely, they fit well but they are £47 and tiedye yay or nay??

KristinaM · 07/03/2010 21:49

monkeysmamma - I will be passing top shop tomorrow or Tuesday - do you want me to look for that jacket? its the demonstration store for the UK ( whatever that means) so always has the new stuff in first

Is it the beige one with diagonal zip and flap pockets? What price is is and what size do you need?

reallygrumpy · 07/03/2010 22:11

Thanks esher - the AMEX25 code works but the other one doesn't, my fault for dithering for so long about the Ash trainers, I'd read your comments about them and I'm going to get them. The leggings are nice, you'd probably wear them but they're not 'wow' and it might be difficult to find tops to wear with them.

I'd also like some harem trousers but haven't yet managed to find any that don't make me look like I have huge hips... Has anyone found flattering ones?

And I'm considering these in purple but I'm not sure if they're a) a good compromise clog that I can wear to the park and actually be able to walk in or b) sad old lady shoes. Opinions please!

monkeysmama · 07/03/2010 22:14

Kristina you love! Yes please please. It's £70 and I need a 12. Yes, that's the one. Thank you so much.

Fleecy most of the shoes are a 6 or 7 but there is a lot of crap among them. Selling my Steve Madden boots as I've hardly worn them. Dp saw a magazine article and suggested I keep them to wear with denim shorts but I think he's forgetting what I look like since dd and having a bit of a school boy fantasy.

KristinaM · 07/03/2010 22:19

tis no bother, worth a look

will get back to you asap

Morning - sitting here in a lovley quiet house (DSs are at school/pre-school) with a cup of tea and about to indulge in some Oscar dress porn! So far I love SJP & Demi More's dresses. Also think Helen Mirren's really suits her.
here

Good luck with the interviews Romanarama - and with your jacket search MM/Kristina!

OllieWollieWoo · 08/03/2010 07:27

Oh yes, also love, love love VB's dress here
