I think esher bought that as a rats top!!

I tried it on in RL the other day. LOVE the exposed zip but no good on me otherwise .. felt like I was preggo again

KristinaM · 06/03/2010 22:10

Am i wearing a Cath Kidston apron and popping muffins in the Aga ? Do I look like Nigella? Indeed I am a domestic goddess

(Kristina quickly removes wine bottle and dirty dishes from worktop so as not to spoil image)

eshermummy · 06/03/2010 22:15

LTEC - Esherdaddy flew off this morning with a reasonably restrained list - sadly there is no way he will be heading back with the miu miu
I asked him to get me either this or this, these leather leggings and a NARS multiple thing and some perfume. DH not a great shopper so had to keep it simple

eshermummy · 06/03/2010 22:20

hana - yes I bought that the other day as a rats top - is def long enough to wear as a dress w/o leggings. As LTEC said it is very loose and smocky - I like that as am v flat chested and bony shouldered but might not work so well if you have more chest? The zip detail is great and I love a racer back in summer

LetThemEatCake · 06/03/2010 22:23

nah... you're ashing your fag into an empty muffin case

matildamum · 06/03/2010 22:33

Ooh esher I LOVE the Marc Jacobs bag. Gorgeous colour

LetThemEatCake · 06/03/2010 22:49

another vote for the MJ. Like sugared almonds. Gorge!!

LetThemEatCake · 06/03/2010 23:16

MOTD killed any chance of a 24 ep ... not to worry, have had white wine, herbal tea and have bought a pair of Gap chinos as rec by Fleecy and AnyFucker . I am not convinced that they are 100% moi but am willing to give 'em a whirl.

Will report back

Good night all

carciofi · 06/03/2010 23:24

Verity, thanks, really looking forward to going back as haven't been there since Oct. Have a few nights out planned as have babysitters on tap there!

Esher, the MJ bag is gorgeous.

Blossoming, did you buy a DVF dress?

Barbabelle · 07/03/2010 09:20

I've been dipping into this thread and it's cheering me up no end. Going back a few pages, I have the Oushka Phoenix in Ash that someone recommended and it's lovely. I was a bit concerned about the practicality of such a light colour - and it's already met with a nasty encounter with a container of baby food. It has emerged relatively unscathed, though, and I get a lot of pleasure from toting it around.

Have seen a couple of people talk about denim minis. I am living in this at the moment. It's very flattering and I wear it with long slouchy tees so it gives a nice clean line under those. It does ride up a bit though so I wear over leggings to remain decent.

I would love an opininion on these boots. Should I be saving my money and energy for summer shoes? Will I still want to wear these next A/W? Are they a classic enough style to last?

Libra I just bought the Anglomania Propaganda and Skirt from Net-a-porter. I will let you know how it is when it gets here.

bunjies · 07/03/2010 10:38

Thanks Cake for the recipe. Unfortunately I don't know whether I can get hold of any rice flour over here so might try it with spelt.

Love those leather leggings Esher and the MJ bag.

On the subject of fine hair I usually have an all one length bob which is currently grown out but I'm thinking of having something like this. I like this actress as she's quite short, isn't stick thin and has a slightly chubby face so a bit of a role model for me.

blossoming · 07/03/2010 10:45

Hi all, here to report back in full!

First off in John Lewis I bought the Whistles breton in navy and white, and the kew breton in red. Both look great under my slate boyf cardigan.

Following my colours chart I also bought this oasis pocket t in green.

I then hot-footed it down to DVF and tried on the blue dress.
Unfortunately ladies, it was not for me. It was too formal for what it was, with chiffon and silk and boning. Wisely, I left it there.
They didn't have the fuschia one in stock. Might order it online to have a look.

Then to the hairdressers, and I told him that the layers round my face were too long and I end up just shoving it behind my ears, which is not a good look, being all forehead and eyebrows.
So we went for a fringe, and it did look amazing. He suggested we cut the length a little shorter next time too for summer.
With my dior sunnies I left the salon thinking I was a Welsh version of Nicole Richie!

Because of the no-dress, I looked at shoes in LK Bennett, but they really are tight aren't they. I do have a pair and they haven't stretched that much.
I love these fierce glads with a passion, but I barely go out any more, let alone anywhere I could where them. I have some unworn JCs in my wardrobe as it is.

In M&S, they had neither of the tops I had earmarked (so I just bought the snakeskin this morning online).

I did try on these absolutely fantastic jeggings. Unfortunately they cut me off in the middle of my tum so I left them behind.
I did buy these indigo navy leggings which I'm wearing right now with my oasis green top, with a navy vest poking out the top).
Following the colours thing, I bought this purple top for evening class, looks great with L&L scarf and slate long island cardigan, and this blue top, which amazingly for someone who only wore black, is one of my best colours. It did look good, and for £8.00, a steal.

So when I got home, dh said, were's the shopping?! Only two bags, but very wise buys. I salute your wisdom ladies.

Update on fringe.
When I woke up this morning I looked about 12. But after blowdrying and straightening, I looked like I did yesterday. It may be high maintenance for some, but I wash and straighten my hair every day whatever.
I thought I looked funky and less mumsy. But then my mum came in and absolutely loved it, so I don't know.
Phew, long post.

blossoming · 07/03/2010 10:47

Bunjies - love that hairstyle.

hf128219 · 07/03/2010 10:50

Bloss - what a great day you had. I have the red whistles Breton top - it is lovely fabric and a good shape.

Your fringe sounds great. Have a lovely day!

bunjies · 07/03/2010 11:18

Sounds a lovely relaxing day Blossoming despite not being able to get everything you were after. I love just mooching about, trying things on, having a leisurely lunch, getting my hair done kind of day.

BTW does anyone want a 30% discount voucher for Gap to be used between 10-14th March? If you do I'll need to email it. Only works in stores though not on Asos.

LetThemEatCake · 07/03/2010 11:47

bunjies there are some recipes in the book that use spelt .. scones from memory .. will type up later.

Roman I love some of the work clothes links. That skirt (I think it was only available in a 10?) was gorgeous. Good luck with your interviews this week.

Blossoming - good day, well done!! Also a fan of the fringe here, got one cut in about a year ago, big thumbs up from me.

Nice & sunny here, have been for a 5 mile run with teenage-boy music blasting in my ears - is there any better way to start a day? Now off to your neck of the woods MM - I'll keep my eyes peeled for you.

OllieWollieWoo · 07/03/2010 12:00

Your day sounds lovely Blossoming - and v wise purchasing! Your fringe sounds lovely too - I have a long graduated one and it def softens my face. I'm inspired by your choice of leggings (esp as M&S has reduced their delivery charge overseas!) Questions for you: What length did you buy? And any idea how they compare quality wise to say Top Shop (eg stop, check you knees/bum and report back re any baggyness!) Ta!

Blossoming sounds like a great day. I am a convert to fringes. I have no lines on my face except for a big furrow on my forehead(too much worrying!), so a fringe has done wonders for me

All those interested in wheat-free baking, I made the most fantastic brownies last week from the LEON cookbook, made with ground almonds, all were agreed that they were the best brownies ever I'm happy to type up the recipe for anyone who wants it.

I shall be making them on tuesday as it's my 41st birthday This time last year I was in a knot about turning 40, I couldn't give a damn now! I look good, feel good and have a fantastic family, so what else matters? I am especially thinking that today after hearing the awful news that the dad of a girl in DS1s class died on friday, his wife is lovely and they have young 3 dds

Carciofi, in case you haven't found it there is a lovely childrens clothes shop called Pearl on Sth King St. The owner is lovely and has a great eye. I try to buy as much as I can from her as it must be so hard to keep a small business going at the moment. Every time I go into town I notice more shops have closed down, which is so awful. Enjoy having babysitters on tap

It's so sunny today, I'm very tempted to bring out my spring/summer clothes, but it's probably a bit soon I think!

OWW - I've worn the leggings all morning and done the usual Sun morning stuff, sitting, bending, rolling and they don't seem to have bagged much.
Arse is not or never will be on show!
I'm 5"7 and bought the long. there's ruching at the bottom. HTH.
