Following on from here

Surely the sun will be out by the end of this thread?

OP posts:
LetThemEatCake · 04/03/2010 18:26

bunny your first post made me LOL. Love it.

re eating and your dd's finger food, did you do BLW?? am curious about it, may incorporate into dc3's weaning (not exclusive)

Love your dd's name, so pretty.

Funny thing is that both dh and I have the most ordinary, run-of-the-mill Hebrew names imaginable, despite neither of us being Jewish. So not sure what that reaction was about. She's a loon anyway.

came through the afternoon sugar slump admirably. Lucky I don't eat wheat though or the biscuit tin may have taken a beating

notyummy · 04/03/2010 18:39

mm - following on from your Mango Tshirt, there is a GORGEOUS Mango top in the 'most wanted' bit in Grazia this week. can't find a bloody picture though!!

Romanarama · 04/03/2010 19:01

Cordelia, sigh, how beautiful. Twas top of our girls' names list for ds1, and ds2, and ds3......

Loving the rats, have you all got them? I can't keep up with this, can we just meet somewhere with a laptop and do it all together?

OllieWollieWoo · 04/03/2010 19:13

Smiling at the thought of us meeting somewhere with laptops Romanarama!!!!

bunjies · 04/03/2010 19:35

Ugh, shitty day today and feeling very sorry for myself (feel your pain Romanarama) so it's great to be here looking at lots of beautiful shiny things. Have managed to avoid the temptation of falling head first into a packet of biscuits (I also don't eat wheat).

BRW have heard mention of the chocolate courgette cake on this thread and wondered if it was the one on mumsnet recipes or the Harry Eastwood one?

LetThemEatCake · 04/03/2010 19:39

we're all Harry Eastwood girls here bunjies

Roman - esher, fleecy, hells and I all have rats. Choo is contemplating. Marsha sent hers back. I think that's all?

LetThemEatCake · 04/03/2010 19:40

sorry you've had a bad day bunjies. I've just had a rather trying bedtime. Am off to start another thread about it

notyummy · 04/03/2010 19:42

Tracey - for the wedding:

quite sexy

not sure?

stunning colour

love this

bunjies · 04/03/2010 19:56

Traceybath - white dress although maybe too large for you. They only have size 10 left.

Also halter white dress

Would anyone be happy to let me have the recipe for the choc courgette cake? I am going to be buying the book when I'm next in the UK but need would like to make it sooner!!!

LetThemEatCake · 04/03/2010 20:06

the choc one is not courgette - there's a light choc one with squash, or a darker one with eggplant

the zucchini ones are vanilla

which would you like?

CHOOGIRL · 04/03/2010 20:26

Hi All

436 posts and March isn't even a week old.

Rats have arrived - still in box will report back. Feeling a bit pre-menstral so not sure right time to be trying on leggings.

Have been invited to a fancy dress party this weekend. Where on earth do I find an ABBA outfit?

Made the Light Chocolate Cake a couple of weeks ago - definitely recommend.

notyummy · 04/03/2010 20:36

Tracey

too short for wedding - but as you are petite you can carry off?

pretty

GeorginaWorsley · 04/03/2010 20:36

I am going to one next weekend choo
Am improvising with sequin dress ,blue eyeshadow and wig.

CHOOGIRL · 04/03/2010 20:48

Genius GW. Thanks. Now.. Where can I get a sequin dress?

traceybath · 04/03/2010 20:49

Notyummy - love the sexy dress but not in my size - thanks for looking though.

Bunjies - like the white dress but yes too big. But what do you all think about this red dress. I love the style but not sure about the knot at the back but that shape at the front suits me. God - I'm one extreme to the other - mumsy to barely there

I've done the light chocolate cake and courgette cupcakes - all utterly delicious. In fact will be making more courgette cupcakes this weekend but mini ones.

LTEC - have posted on your bedtime thread.

traceybath · 04/03/2010 20:55

Choo - sequin dress too subtle perhaps . H&M full of sequins.

Notyummy - love the ted baker dress - very pretty indeed.

traceybath · 04/03/2010 20:57

More sequins

reallygrumpy · 04/03/2010 21:01

Hey all,

I've just been trying to catch up on this thread and it's taken ages cos I haven't been on MN for a couple of days.

LTEC - congrats on your anniversary. And on the bedtime and mealtimes stuff have you got 'The incredible years' by Carolyn Webster Stratton? It's got some really good strategies in and I'm finding it brill for dealing with terrible twos and the tantrums!

Pages ago someone mentioned trying to help me find a frock for the Italian wedding in May. It's not really an Italian wedding, it's really an English wedding in Italy. It's ceremony in a hotel the reception in a restaurant and the dress code is 'party frocks'.

Oh, and I'm 5ft 8, size 12 and 37 so nothing 'too young' or too short please. I quite like this and still like the Anglomania frock which I need to try on but I'm not sure about the shape of the Anglomania and I really want something clourful - a bit of a 'wow' dress. Any ideas v welcome!

monkeysmama · 04/03/2010 21:17

NotGrumpy where is the wedding and what month? I am thinking about how hot it will be. The English weddings in Italy I've been to (where neither party is Italian) have been like English weddings fashion wise. Can you remind us what shape, size and colouring you are? Do you already have shoes you want to wear?

Tracey I really like the red dress but think it would need a tan.

Ooohh Choo I love a bit of shine and bling. I saw a stunning green and black sequined dress before Christmas but then Katie Price wore it so I started to question my sanity (let alone my fashion sense).

LTEC we did BLW with dd. She's a fantastic eater (I get tired of everyone commenting on it) but I don't know whether to put that down to the BLW or just the fact that food is very important in our family. She always asks how many courses she's having but she does go to bed a bit later than most "English" kids so we can all eat together every night. BLW def worth a go though. My favourite thing about it is that it doesn't force feed them - when they're not hungry they don't eat instead of us forcing one more spoon in and overriding their natural "I'm full" instinct. You do have to remember though that a baby's gag reflex is further forward than ours (so they're not seriously chocking every time they gag iyswim) Sorry - off topic.

Right, dp is back and has fallen over in the hall . He's been having lunch since 12. More .

OllieWollieWoo · 04/03/2010 21:25

Do you like something like this reallygrumpy?
here or the stripy maxi dress from Coast I linked to yesterday???

DH out with some friends tonight MM - we both agreed that we would head straight for the spare room when he eventudally rolls in!

I have forgotten (& can't see from the thread) who is going to the fancy dress party? Abba sounds great. Every time I drive through Essex I see a million zillion fancy dress shops if you live anywhere near Southend.

We're going to a fancy dress part next month. I hate them but we have to go (with dd) and have to dress up. Dp thinks we should go as the Flintstones with dd as BamBam. I would prefer to sleep through the whole embarrassing thing.

Fleecy · 04/03/2010 21:44

hana will keep my eye out for a suitable top.

We didn't go the whole BLW hog with DD or DS but did lots of finger food. Weetabix for breakfast then finger stuff for lunch and dinner. I like it because then when we ate together we could eat our food before it went cold, rather than spoonfeeding. Food is very important to me!

ltec what are you doing to celebrate at the weekend? I have posted (too enthusiastically probably!) on the playsuits/jumpsuits thread...

CHOOGIRL · 04/03/2010 21:49

Hi MM I've got Abba fancy dress this weekend. Been working so not had time to organise anything. Live Sarf of the River so definitely nowhere near Sarfend.

For the record I hate fancy dress!
