Following on from here

Surely the sun will be out by the end of this thread?

OP posts:

evening all - rushing in for a quick moan! DM offered to babysit so we set off in our gladrags - me in this. Got the restaurant. Decided to go for the taster menu. 2 tastes in my phone rang - DD had been sick everywhere . As we'd already placed our order I agreed that DH should stay?! Not quite sure why now. And I've rushed back.

Mountains of sick later dd is now in bed. ONe small mercy is our washing machine is working. Last time we got the sickness bug it was kaput. Not fun!

monkeysmama · 04/03/2010 21:52

Choo probably a silly question but have you had a look online? I remember a few years ago we needed a Bob the Builder outfit at work and found a place on line that did next day delivery.

notyummy · 04/03/2010 22:09

Hells - that sucks....and you would have looked fab in that dress. I am - although not sure that my particular size 12 arse could carry it off....

notyummy · 04/03/2010 22:13

reallygrumpy - that dress you linked to looks really flattering.

For a wedding, I think Karen Millen (I know - very WAG!) actually has a few nices dresses particularly if you are, like me, not incredibly petite (am 10-12). I find the cut of the stuff quite flattering.

Have a look here:

not all are 'weddingy' but a few are

Fleecy · 04/03/2010 22:19

Ooh yes hells dress is lovely

Nice to see bunny and mm joining me in defence of jumpsuits/playsuits!

reallygrumpy · 04/03/2010 22:21

Hells what a shame! Fab frock though...

MM the not Italian wedding in Italy is on the Amalfi Coast and includes a boat trip. As for my size, shape etc, I'm size 12, rounder than I'd like to be but fairly in proportion. I'm v pale skinned with dark hair and have an excessive number of pairs of shoes so I'm sure I'll be able to find something to wear with whatever dress I find. I'm also planning to wear the dress to a couple of weddings over here in June and August. Oh, and on a completely different topic, I got a fab tankini from bravissimo last summer and their customer service is great.

esher - have your Ash trainers arrived yet and do you like them. The silver ones I ordered have arrived and I'm a bit so I might send them back and order the other ones. I was just worried they'd be a bit bright for the rest of my dingy understated wardrobe.

Oh, and breton tops - if you want a slightly less preppy look try wearing it with black jeans, trainers and a leather jacket.

hellsbelles · 04/03/2010 22:22

DH is now back proclaiming the meal as one of the best he's had in ages (Fat Duck excluded of course) but did manage to quickly add that it was a shame I missed it!!!

The dress will just have to have another debut (can you debut twice )

Night all

notyummy · 04/03/2010 22:25

grumpy;

too many sequins?

On the whole, I am regreting looking at the dresses at Wallis and Debenhams. My eyes!! What is going on there?? Last year I saw a few ok things on the Wallis site but they would have appeared to have sacked all those buyers....

LetThemEatCake · 04/03/2010 22:27

so many dresses

red knot back dress - like it. What purpose?
Farhi dress - pretty but could be more vibrant .. borders ever so slightly on dull. Would be improved immeasurably by showing more shoulder
Abba - ha ha hilarious, I am such a party pooper and find dress up excruciatingly embarro. Choo, I can't tell you how cheered I am by thought of you a) baking and b) doing daggy dress up. You were getting way too intimidatingly glamorous and fab {wink]

Fleecy - gap chinos, what size did you buy? am thinking I might give them a whirl.

dh still not home. Happy anniversary!! made happier by the thought of all - yes all - of my in laws descending upon us on Sat So I will have a lovely day of being eyed up and down, told whether or not I look fat, trying to prevent the children from being abducted, trying to get some personal space from people who think it's just fine to stroke the baby's head while I'm bfing and being asked whether I'm still finding the time to "write my little articles"

really need outfit help for this one ladies. Need to feel "F**k you fabulous"

LetThemEatCake · 04/03/2010 22:27

oh god, hells!! am so sorry, that's awful. Bet you looked a squillion bucks. x

monkeysmama · 04/03/2010 22:32

Hells I feel for you. Hope your LO is ok.

ReallyGrumpy thanks for the Bravissimo heads up. I'll have a look for something for the Italian wedding. I am very . That area is stunning and they adore LOs! Is it in May then? It will be hot!

I am off to punch deal with dp.

Night all.

MM

Fleecy · 04/03/2010 22:33

Got a size 10 in the chinos. I probably could have got away with an 8 but Gap sizing quite generous and I like them in a looser cut.

monkeysmama · 04/03/2010 22:39

Cakey take my advice after the fun I had with my ils this week. Tell them not to come. Feign illness. Feign insanity.

My whole week has been fuct up by my outlaws. Mondays are our balance day usually - we chill out after the weekend, cook a few meals for the week, go to the park, kiss and cuddle whilst rolling on floor for long periods (dd & I, not me & dp sadly), do washing, just hang out. They've thrown my week out of kilter and I am . Save yourself the stress and move before they get there?

LetThemEatCake · 04/03/2010 22:46

LOL MM. I wish.

one sil and her dh live os. They are nice. They are here for a couple of days. They want to see us, we want to see them. Everyone else has jumped on that train. I can't make too much fuss. It's literally the only thing that dh and I have ever fought about. We have an understanding now. So when it came up, and he asked which day, I was able to say "sat, so it's not hanging over my head all weekend and I can get it out of the way and have a nice sunday". And he didn't resent me saying that. I can't begrudge him his family esp when he is moving os for me

But I can rant to you lot

I was thinking your week had started and continued badly (ILs and threading) I would blame them for the eyebrow thing, personally.

monkeysmama · 04/03/2010 23:04

Lol. My ils are totally responsible for my eyebrows or lack thereof. And the fact their ds has been sick on my beautiful new White Co bed linen.

reallygrumpy · 04/03/2010 23:49

MM oh no! It's one thing cleaning up DC's sick but DP's sick... ewwww

Fleecy · 05/03/2010 09:27

Oh dear mm I hope he cleaned it up himself. It always makes me smile a bit to see a grown man who drunk too much - like a little boy. Silly creatures!

Thanks for the skirt link hana I would like one but that would be a little on the big side I think. Having said that, you inspired me to look on eBay and I have found a very nice looking one that's slightly smaller but not too tiny. Yay!

Don't think I said on this thread but my Dad went into hospital Wed and had his op yesterday - it was a couple of weeks sooner than we were expecting and he didn't even get a day's notice but they had a rare cancellation so he took the slot offered. Anyhoo, the op took longer than expected but was a great success and he is up in bed, talking and feeling pretty good considering he just had major surgery and is 71! Am going to see him this afternoon. Happy days!

notyummy · 05/03/2010 09:32

Fleecy - good news. Hope he feels better soon.

hellsbelles · 05/03/2010 09:44

MM I hope you are doing all the and faces at him today.

LTEC - I'm already dreading your weekend and I'm not even going to be there! We will be on hand to provide soothing words and of course to gasp in amazement at the role call of fab outfits you are going to stun them with!

Fleecy - great news on your dad.

I'm behind on all the links sorry! Will try and catch up today. But I did get the lionel and lily zebra scarf today which cheered me up A lot. So thanks for the link (now who was it that found it??) and thanks to blossoming for being brave and ordering first!

DD was a little angel and slept through the night....I gave her watered down milk this morning which she threw up half an hour later . While she is the most perfect baby (for me) and totally edible she is not usually desperate for cuddles (she's always busy somehow)...but when she's poorly it's cuddles galore which is actually a bit of a treat (though of course I don't like her feeling bad). So this morning she just cuddled up with me and watched cbeebies and it was rather lovely (apart from the vomiting!)

I'm desperate to go back to the restaurant and finish up that meal. It was totally divine. Has anyone been to L'Atelier de Joël Robuchon? Poncy I agree - but the taster menu is amazing (well the first 2 bits were and DH says it continued to be wonderful!)

LibrasBiscuitsOfFortune · 05/03/2010 10:01

Hello all, I am just dashing to get ready as I am heading up to London for the day - both DH and DS free! Woohoo, have lunch with a friend and drinks with friends at 5:30pm but inbetween I am free. I might go to a museum, I am not a huge fan of museums it's just that i CAN go IYSWIM. I am tempted to go up to Liberty and wonder around looking at all the gorgeous clothes that have been linked on here the last couple of months.
I am planning to wear my new stripy gap top, dark fitted jeans and red converse.

MM I hoped you made HIM strip the bed.

LTEC I have a feeling if I made a rise above it comment you might reach thru the laptop and hit me so my suggestion is imagine it to be the worst it could be and then, hopefully, it will be better than that.

hells bet you looked stunning in that dress.

hana I am not going to say hideous I am going to say it's not my particular taste the scarf!

fleecy glad your Dad is doing ok.

Sorry if missed anyone, in a rush. Hope you all have a good day.

LibrasBiscuitsOfFortune · 05/03/2010 10:03

Hells sorry missed your DD, hope she feels better soon, but I totally understand about the cuddles it's the only time I get them with DS as well.

hellsbelles · 05/03/2010 10:04

Libras - have fun!

hf128219 · 05/03/2010 10:27

I love this thread. I need some shopping inspiration.
