Jean style leggings. Can you see how clever they were in naming them. Also known as Leans - perhaps because the only person they would ever look reasonable on would have to be very lean.

cremolafoam · 02/10/2009 14:14

a cross between legging and jeans

please no, unless you are a 6 foot tall stick insect or a teenager.

piprabbit · 02/10/2009 15:26

Saw my first real live jeggings today on tall skinny 17 year old.

And they still looked awful.

ScummyMummy · 02/10/2009 15:32

I don't dislike them per se at all. My friend wearing them with a denim mini the other day looked v good in them. She's slim but not lean. I wouldn't, I suspect, as am too curvy.

Anniemac! I didn't realiase you were pregnant! How exciting. When are you due?

fluffles · 02/10/2009 15:34

really?

jeggings with a denim skirt??? does that not just look like she couldn't make up her mind

or am i totally behind the times

mummee09v · 02/10/2009 15:47

hiya,

i bought some yesterday, from A-wear. they are quite thick jean material and look like actual jeans and i have worn them today with a long-ish stripy t-shirt. they are very comfortable. wouldnt wear anything shorter than that with them as i might end up with a camel toe situation

they look good on me IMO.

although i am a small size 8. which helps. haha x

noddyholder · 02/10/2009 15:50

if you buy a decent pair eg not primark they are just like a very tight pair of skinny jeans and are great for boots as they don't crumple. No good on a huge bum or thighs but otherwise really comfortable and stylish

mummee09v · 02/10/2009 15:55

yeah cheap horrible ones are awful.

the ones that are just like lycra leggings but "denim-look" and have the pockets n zip kind of painted on,

but as i said actual denim stretch ones are great, esp tucked into boots, i wore mine with my Uggs today.x

Noooooooooooooooooo, No, No

herjazz · 02/10/2009 16:09

A yay from me

If worn properly. I have some black ones - they're just like skinny jeans really but a far more comfortable. Bit more hard wearing than leggings - don't get them mothy holes along the seams after a few washes

As a rule of thumb, the older / fatter you are, the longer yr top or dress should be you wear with them. Yins out the yang mutton

With good boots / snazzy heels they can be v flattering to legs

laydeebyrd · 02/10/2009 16:23

I bought some a couple of weeks ago from Topshop and they are soooo comfortable and I had thought they looked really nice. I'm wearing them with a long jumper/short jumper dress and boots. I'll check with a few people I trust who aren't just delighted to have found something to wear which looks good (so I thought anyway), is comfortable, and doesn't fall down! In my book they are the best thing I've bought so far.

ScummyMummy · 02/10/2009 16:29

Ace news. Let me know if you want to do maternity leave coffee. I'm off till June with my new baby. (I think we live quite close to each other?)

Marne · 02/10/2009 16:35

I have a pair which i wear with boots and a long top/dress, i still think i'm young enough to wear them (27) but wouldn't wear them if i was 50 and weighed 20 stone .
