Why don't ginger people just dye their hair a normal colour?

When gingers dye their hair, it is obvious from the skin tone/freckles/roots that they are ginger.

So they become what is known in our house as Stealth Gingers.

Because the stress of the DCs is sending my hair rapidly white so if I wait long enough I will have changed hair colour without forking out for hair dye.
