what do we think about TU clothing?

Not somewhere I usually look as we don't have a big Sainsbury's near here with a clothing section, just the little convenience stores.

Saw they had a sale on though and ordered a few things and I'm SO impressed. Ordered this dress https://tuclothing.sainsburys.co.uk/product/tuc148498351 which admittedly is not the most fashion forward item on the planet but I was looking for a comfortable dress for holidays and smart-casual occasions. It's such good quality - really thick, 100% cotton and has pockets! £7.80 absolute bargain. Also bought a grey cardigan/vest thing which is very thick and will keep me cosy in winter.

So did I just hit it lucky or is the general quality of TU better than Asda, Tesco etc?

I like it. We have a huge Sainsbury's with a big clothing section. I have quite a few things from there.

EBearhug · Today 13:42

Yes, pockets, and natural fibres, though not as good ss a few years ago.

locketrocket · Today 13:45

Agree, TU is fab.

Their sizing is spot on (which is very handy if I spy something on Vinted!)

I like their clothes - like any shop you have to pick and choose what is good quality/fit etc. I’m not a fashionable person so I don’t care what the fashion snobs think!

Last winter I bought their dark blue denim bootleg jeggings and I love them so much I bought a second pair. They are so comfortable and unless you tuck your tops in you’d think they are jeans.

When my children were very small we did live near a bigger Sainsburys and I had some nice things from there for them, I especially remember 15-20 years ago they were one of the few places you could buy girls' clothes in turquoise, orange, navy blue. Not just pink.

Will have to make more of an effort to go to the big branches in other parts of the city. Last time I looked at clothes in Asda or Tesco it was all just a bit meh.

They have a lot of cotton garments (esp. in summer) and their cotton pyjamas are lovely.

eta The dress is a bargain !

IdleGossip · Today 13:54

Lots of other people must think so too Lucifer as many sizes have sold out since I ordered.

I've had some nice things from there.

You got a bargain but that dress is worth £26 not £7.80!
As with most things….. some of their stuff is fabulous (I buy there quite often as there is one near me) some is awful (embarrassingly awful)

They are always worth a look, I like their non wired bras and jeans.

Agree - I don't often find things I like now whereas I used to get a lot from there.

ThreeplusI · Today 15:28

I always see lovely stuff on their Facebook ads, but our branch never has any of it in stock. Anything I do see is always OOS in my size. That said I have had great bargains over the years. Have just bought the wide lig ponte trouers in 3 colours and they are great, very long though!

oncemoreuntothebeachdearfriends · Today 16:48

I buy quite a lot from them on-line , particularly White Stuff.
Free delivery is to a local store, so very convenient.

I like it but it's a shame they closed the fitting rooms. I hate the faff of buying, taking home to try and then return for a different size or refund. I'm not a regular supermarket shopper and not loyal to any of them.

BCBird · Today 16:52

I had some lovely stuff from TU in the past.

Summerhillsquare · Today 16:54

I had a lovely cropped cotton jacket and linen waistcoat there in the summer, and a fitted lined white dress. All good quality. Ive got my eye on their William Morris PJs now, maybe a Christmas present to myself.

IDontHateRainbows · Today 17:03

Love it, bought my winter coat from there for £45 recently.

Now that the quality of clothes in most shops is shite it's really leveled the playing field so why pay more for stuff thats equivalent quality to sainsburys ( which isn't too bad for low end)

The customer toilets are your friend. Not ideal buying then changing in the loos, but easier than having the faff of taking back.

My DD has that dress and it's really lovely and has washed reallywell. I buy a lot of Tu clothing. I bought four pairs of wide leg trousers for WFH days and they're smart looking but also really warm. I think they were £14 or £16 a pair and have pockets. Absolute steal for the price!

SpiralSister · Today 17:07

They can have surprisingly nice things, and their black maxi kilt last year was great. Certainly better than the other supermarkets!

I don’t often go to Sainsbury’s as it’s miles from me, but more often than not something from Tu comes home with me when I do.

This! I used to get quite a bit from Tu, but the quality has declined in recent years IMO.

I'd like to see it before I buy, I know Sainsbury's is not too bad for buying and returning, but I don't want to do it for everything, plus often the things I like are OOS on-line in my size too. Plus I don't want to pay for delivery on 1 thing and Click and Collect is a couple of days wait., sometimes I want the item there and then. But thanks for the top tip!

ILoveKits · Today 17:17

DD likes it. 28.
I'm not so keen but bought a very nice broderoe anglais skirt in the summer for £30 which would have been £60 on the High Street.
I just don't get the love from bunging itnin the trolley next to the spuds.

hellospring26 · Today 17:18

Hit and miss, but I find the good stuff really good. Was also brilliant for kids’ clothes when they were younger.
