what do we think about TU clothing?

Not somewhere I usually look as we don't have a big Sainsbury's near here with a clothing section, just the little convenience stores.

Saw they had a sale on though and ordered a few things and I'm SO impressed. Ordered this dress https://tuclothing.sainsburys.co.uk/product/tuc148498351 which admittedly is not the most fashion forward item on the planet but I was looking for a comfortable dress for holidays and smart-casual occasions. It's such good quality - really thick, 100% cotton and has pockets! £7.80 absolute bargain. Also bought a grey cardigan/vest thing which is very thick and will keep me cosy in winter.

So did I just hit it lucky or is the general quality of TU better than Asda, Tesco etc?

This must be a Sains policy!
Ours are still open and I have used them to try clothes on (being careful not to touch the floor). They are often closed and they absolutely stink of piss and nappy/sanitary bins, which are clearly rarely emptied.

Yes - ours were like that, plus dirty nappies left lying around, and I had only been in them a couple of times over the years!
I guess they don't have to pay people to staff the changing rooms OR clean the loos now! rolls eyes

That said, and in the spirit of the thread - I really like TU clothing and I always get my knickers there...and they last ages!

We have an Argos close by and I order stuff click and collect - the returns process is very quick and easy. Lots of other shops could learn from them.

I also have an Argos inside my local Sainsbury’s but you still can’t try clothes on in store.
I was responding to post about having no fitting rooms in store.
I can buy clothes from TU bring them home to try on and easily return them for a refund if I like, I just think it would be good to try before I buy!

Thanks for this thread, I've been looking for a cotton denim maxi skirt in black, forgot about Tu but looked after seeing this thread, I've ordered one 20£, I also like a goth western type look and I don't have any black skirts after losing weight, so fingers crossed when I pick this up it's great

AutumnMuse · Yesterday 14:03

I like some of their clothes. They had 20% off in store over a week ago , so I bought some t-shirts, socks and underwear for my dh and tops for myself. I'd love to buy more, but I've got too many clothes! I don't mind where I shop.

Almahart · Yesterday 14:07

Their jeans are good and their cotton pyjamas are amazing

Oooh @SpiralSister your wool kilt sounds gorgeous and what a steal. Lucky you!! I agree re the black one-so wearable and versatile. I added a kilt pin to my one to make it look a little more authentic and it works fine imo.

Big fan here-online though.

Just bought some christmas pjs and jumpers-think everything washes and wears well.

Have tall, strapping DS and TU has lots of big size shirts and things that he likes.

LemograssLollipop · Yesterday 14:41

@IdleGossip I have that dress but paid full price. Jealous you got it in the same sale!!
It's lovely, great for work and weekends!

Cyclingmummy1 · Yesterday 14:41

I bought a great pair of side stripe trousers a couple of months ago, snapped them up as soon as I saw them. £20 was a steal.

LaurieFairyCake · Yesterday 15:58

This bloody thread made me buy 3 pairs of pyjamas yesterday !

and I’ve never bought anything from Sainsbury’s before 🤔😬

Agree - I don't often find things I like now whereas I used to get a lot from there.

I agree as well. Used to pick up a lot of reasonable summer dresses etc from there a few years ago for myself and DD, however, hardly anything recently. One exception is the sort of velvety loungewear I am currently sporting which my DD bought me as I am suffering from the nasty virus doing the rounds.

I love some of the clothes but the sizes are so big. I have to have a size 8 in TU but then the clothes seem to be a petite fit which Im not. Im 5 foot 5" and the necks are too small and the sleeves too short. If I get a 10 they swamp me. Im normally a 10 and 12 in coats.

I love it, I bought that brown pvc trench coat last year and had loads of compliments from strangers! I even bought another in the sale for £8 (silly I know!) as I’m scared of losing it, or damaging it as I LOVE it so much!! I also bought an oversized short coat/ long jacket in a faux sheepskin for £13 which looks like a 70s sports presenter coat, and it’s amazing! Again loads of compliments. I think there are some fabulous bits to be had!!!

BobbySox71 · Yesterday 18:50

Their pjs are fab, I also buy the odd bits as well

FattyMallow · Yesterday 19:07

The dresses, jacket, sometimes leather handbags, jumpers are so beautiful. The only items I don't like are their denim trousers although always such beautiful cuts and final products.

Airyfairy77 · Yesterday 19:27

Thank you, I’ve just gone and ordered this dress!! 😂 I have also previously bought some gorgeous clothes from Sainsbury’s!

A few pages ago I said half my wardrobe is sainsburys and it is, however I forgot one main problem with them and Ive linked to a real life example. They think everyone is 20 foot tall. Unless the item comes with an option for short, I literally cannot wear any of their trousers, look at this below, Im looking for some wide leg cheapy joggers for the beach, I dontw ant to pay a fortune, neither do I want about 8 inches of fabric dragging in the sand, model wearing these is 5'11 and the trousers are down to her shoes - no leg length option for me

I love their jeans and underwear. I have 2 winter jumpers which are warmer than any I’ve ever had before, and get good comments from people.

All my black work trousers are various styles from Tu, most of their trousers come in 3 lengths.

I saw this after I’d posted, I’m 5’6 and find regular fits perfectly

Pigeon123456 · Yesterday 19:52

I recently bought their “wool rich car coat” in navy - £60 full price and I bought mine on sale. It has a 72% wool content! I couldn’t believe such a high wool content was available at that price and snapped it up. I also love that the collar does up high around the neck. Wore it today for the first time and I love it.

pinkdyno · Yesterday 20:28

Just adding we have a fairly small town level one. I pop in at least once a week and check the clearance for kids. Honestly I have never paid full price for anything. Once a week more stuff added seventy percent off.

pinkdyno · Yesterday 20:29

So also great for buying next year kids stuff now. And it washes and wears fantastic

LowlandLucky · Yesterday 20:46

I used to buy a lot from there but always had to try things on as it could look great on the hanger but rubbish on and vice versa. Don't buy anything now as they closed the changing rooms.

AgentPidge · Yesterday 20:56

I like their cotton bras. I've had some lovely denim from Tu in the past.

Efrogwraig · Yesterday 21:40

I always find something everytime l look.
