what do we think about TU clothing?

Not somewhere I usually look as we don't have a big Sainsbury's near here with a clothing section, just the little convenience stores.

Saw they had a sale on though and ordered a few things and I'm SO impressed. Ordered this dress https://tuclothing.sainsburys.co.uk/product/tuc148498351 which admittedly is not the most fashion forward item on the planet but I was looking for a comfortable dress for holidays and smart-casual occasions. It's such good quality - really thick, 100% cotton and has pockets! £7.80 absolute bargain. Also bought a grey cardigan/vest thing which is very thick and will keep me cosy in winter.

So did I just hit it lucky or is the general quality of TU better than Asda, Tesco etc?

i have a few things there, surprisingly nice quality. I think there summer stuff is better than the A/W stuff.

LuxuryWoman2020 · 24/10/2026 17:20

I've had some really nice things from Tu and almost all my under and nightwear is Tu.

TemperanceWest · 24/10/2026 17:22

Thanks to MN I bought a great raincoat from Tu, which has passed the torrential rain test with flying colours today. Kept me completely dry.

MyNoisyBee · 24/10/2026 17:22

I get loads of stuff from work there and often get compliments on it! Had some great bits this summer, but wouldn’t buy winter jumpers there. I do always get my Christmas pjs there too, they have a good range of 100% ones.

LIZS · 24/10/2026 17:24

Great for basics and last well.

Whattheduck · 24/10/2026 17:24

I have that dress too which I purchased in the sale for next summer
I buy quite a bit from there as the sizings good as is the quality and they have some great offers on throughout the year

BlueFahrenheit · 24/10/2026 17:27

I wouldn't wear this dress, but at least it's cotton.

SirChenjins · 24/10/2026 17:27

I really like it - I get quite a few things from thing, and their cotton knickers are great - much better than M&S. I've bought a couple of waterproof coats there and both have been fab.

The customer toilets are your friend. Not ideal buying then changing in the loos, but easier than having the faff of taking back.

You need to choose a Sainsbury's next to an M&S, like my one! When they first closed the changing rooms, the Sainsbury's assistant directed me there!!! 😂

Happyjoe · 24/10/2026 17:40

Many years ago we lived near a larger one and I did get a couple of jumpers from there and they were excellent, I still use them. I did give up as sizing was all over the place after a while but it's years since bought anything. Glad it is still pretty good OP.

likelysuspect · 24/10/2026 17:45

I think nearly my entire wardrobe is sainsburys.

BrightYellowDaffodil · 24/10/2026 17:49

I’ve had some nice things from there but they do tend to be heavy on the flounces and ruffles and “funky” prints.

anon2022anon · 24/10/2026 18:05

Absolutely love it.
I'll see if I can link some of my favourite recent purchases

Checked kilt
Cream cardigan
Lambswool cardigan
Great colour top, heavy weight
Not too barrel jeans
V neck tops in khaki and a burgundy stripe.

If there's anything you like out of stock, check back in the morning as that's when they sort the restock

During the summer, their cropped poplin cullottes are fantastic.

NestaVipaz · 24/10/2026 18:41

Their collab with William Morris stuff was incredibly well made. Pure cotton, beautifully stitched.

The customer toilets in our Sainsbury's is absolutely disgusting. You would be trailing the clothes in urine as you tried to get into them.

Missed that completely. Must get into the habit of checking the website more often.

That's OK, I wasn't asking you to.

I stockpile their jeans and their seersucker PJs in the summer are great.

Myremoteislost · 24/10/2026 18:58

Their baby and young child ranges are lovely. Older child/teen pretty dire, a lot of black and grey.
I do like some things, but I've noticed they use a lot more polyester than they used to.

Astrabees · 24/10/2026 19:00

I've just bought some leggingy things that are thicker than legging, ribbed and quite warm. I've worn them to go out with friends who love hiking. These seem to look the part and function well, for only £16.

Lifestooshort71 · 24/10/2026 19:03

I've got stuff from Tu that I've had for years. I usually find something I like if I have a ferret around.

ThreeplusI · 24/10/2026 15:28

I always see lovely stuff on their Facebook ads, but our branch never has any of it in stock. Anything I do see is always OOS in my size. That said I have had great bargains over the years. Have just bought the wide lig ponte trouers in 3 colours and they are great, very long though!

I've also bought the wideleg ponte in 3 colours. Excellent for work. They are all different lengths though, despite all being regular length.

locketrocket · 24/10/2026 13:45

Agree, TU is fab.

Their sizing is spot on (which is very handy if I spy something on Vinted!)

I like their clothes too. I do find the sizing is on the large side though.

SleepingisanArt · 24/10/2026 19:37

I have some fantastic 100% cotton edge to edge longline cardigans from them as well as leggings, denim jacket (£12) and a cheap and cheerful waterproof jacket. Just bought a 100% lambswool cardigan which is so soft and reviews say it washes well and can be tumble dried. I wanted a bright blue version but it's sold out so I'm on the waiting list. I don't shop in sainsburys regularly but like to check out the clothing in person when I'm there but I did order my latest cardigan online in case the store didn't have one next time I'm in.

Ikeameatballs · 24/10/2026 19:47

I love it! Often buy stuff from there, some is awful, as is the case in a lot of shops, but a lot of very good stuff too.
