Am I the only one who hates animal print?

They’re everywhere. Maybe it’s because I’m a child of the 80s but I just can’t rid myself of Bet Lynch’s image. Am I the only one?

@FKATKate Moss made me fall in love with zebra print, she loves it.

bingobangs · 21/09/2026 20:00

@BeardySchnauzerI was referring to the tacky comments, I think for those characters one thing it was meant to show was mutton dressed as lamb & again I think there is less ageism in fashion now.

Seagulldancing · 21/09/2026 20:00

I like it now, but I am firmly midlife crisis age and I fear its a sign.

hardshoulderr · 21/09/2026 20:00

Yes

FKAT · 21/09/2026 20:00

I think animal print became associated with female sexuality in the silent movie era. Theda Bara, Clara Bow, Gloria Swanson were always photographed on leopard skin rugs, in real fur or walking around with pet jaguars. Cartier did all that wild cat jewellery for Wallace Simpson around the same time. A very 1920s vibe.

It reminds me of the same type of people who think the term mutton dressed as lamb is still ok.

Which I have just used to illustrate what I think some associate with animal print! 😆

Yes that’s certainly true re less ageism in fashion

tiredtiredd · 21/09/2026 20:05

Bet lynch is legendary.

allthegoodusernameshavegone · 21/09/2026 20:07

i hate it too, I work with women that rave about it

Morecoffeeneedef · 21/09/2026 20:09

Hate the stuff. Very unattractive.

Aiming4Optimistic · 21/09/2026 20:10

I quite like it on shoes - ballet flats or high heels. But not on anything else. I tried to like it because it was everywhere a few years back, but you're right - it still gives Bet Lynch vibes!

TheGardenPond · 21/09/2026 20:13

I’ve always liked wearing leopard print, even when it was not in fashion at all and I didn’t mind being called ‘Bet Lynch’, what a legend! I still wear loads of leopard now but it mildly annoys me it’s now everywhere. I preferred it when it was my personal fashion niche. But I still wear it loads.

Advocodo · 21/09/2026 20:19

No you are not! I feel it can look trashy!

Ah maybe that’s why I don’t like it-I cannot bear Kate Moss

Good style doesn’t exist without bad style 😜

InQuiresandplaceswheretheysing · 21/09/2026 20:25

Leopard print looks so trashy.

TheBers · 21/09/2026 20:28

I’ve always been a fan of cow print from the 80’s onwards. Not bothered if it’s not cool in particular time period . I wear leather.

Floisme · 21/09/2026 20:29

I’m not a fan but I don’t have a problem with it as long as I’m never forced to wear it. And I’ve always adored Bet Lynch. And Elsie Tanner.

MadellineBellPictureMeGoneNS · 21/09/2026 20:33

Another for Bet Lynch though great character .

Jackrussellmansion · 21/09/2026 20:34

Before I clicked on the link and saw the full title, I thought of Bet Lynch! Absolutely not a fan of animal prints!

TheLambtonWorm · 21/09/2026 20:35

I have loads of leopard print. More of an alternative / goth style though so MN S&B collective pearls would be clutched with my wardrobe no doubt. I'm not dusty enough to know who Bet Lynch is but Pat Butcher is an icon so I'm happy to take the trashy, tacky label. I've seen some of the stuff people think is stylish on here and I'll be nice and say it's not for me lol.

Gettingbysomehow · 21/09/2026 20:36

Id wear it head to toe every day if I could get away with it.

MadellineBellPictureMeGoneNS · 21/09/2026 20:36

Elsie Tanner another Corrie icon

Blingismything · 21/09/2026 20:37

I have a couple of bits but can’t bring
myself to wear it.

TheChosenTwo · 21/09/2026 20:38

I’ve never liked them, just not seen anything animal print and thought it looks good or nice. It’s a really strong choice and I’m sure some people really carry it well but I’ve never seen them!
Not for me but as someone else said life would be so boring if we all liked/dressed the same, like some sad little uniform or cult of homogeneous humans!
