Am I the only one who hates animal print?

They’re everywhere. Maybe it’s because I’m a child of the 80s but I just can’t rid myself of Bet Lynch’s image. Am I the only one?

I’ve worn it and loved it but jeez it’s a tired old trend now

Justttheone · 21/09/2026 19:26

Always hated it. Also hate tartan.

Needtosoundoffandbreathe · 21/09/2026 19:28

I hate it and all the different coloured takes on animal print pattern too.

bingobangs · 21/09/2026 19:28

Bet Lynch is such an old reference!

Nincompoo · 21/09/2026 19:28

Oh I love a bit of leopard print!

it’s a good job we don’t all like the same things isn’t it.

Wellshellsbells · 21/09/2026 19:28

I love it!!! My fave wide legged jeans are leopard print.

DangerousLesions · 21/09/2026 19:29

I don't like them either, but I thought that ship of a trend sailed a couple of years ago. Are they still out there?

BeardySchnauzer · 21/09/2026 19:31

I don’t like animal print either. Makes me feel uncomfortable.

i say leave it to the animals - looks best on them!!

have noticed a lot of animal print adidas trainers

Ratherhaveacupofteaandabiscuit · 21/09/2026 19:32

Definitely Bet Lynch.
That said, I loved Bet Lynch just not in a wanting to emulate her look way.

Tryagain26 · 21/09/2026 19:32

I don't like it either. I think it's horrible, unless it's on an animal

BeardySchnauzer · 21/09/2026 19:39

I mean Bet Lynch and Pat Butcher were iconic wearers of leopard print but that was chosen to say something about the characters which I’m not sure was a positive tbh

i don’t watch a lot of tv these days but is it still used to insinuate the same thing about characters?

susiedaisy1912 · 21/09/2026 19:40

Hate it too.

Mumblechum0 · 21/09/2026 19:42

I hate it too, it’s very Sosander imo

I think we had moved past the days when an item of clothing said something about your sexual attitudes but maybe only for younger people.

MyManinCaracas · 21/09/2026 19:44

I have a love/hate relationship with it. I have one item and I wear it very occasionally with an otherwise conservative outfit.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 21/09/2026 19:45

As a pp said, they look cheap and tacky. To me anyway.

It reminds me of the same type of people who think the term mutton dressed as lamb is still ok.

luckylavender · 21/09/2026 19:47

I don’t like it at all

Hohofortherobbers · 21/09/2026 19:48

Can't stand it, my one exception was a silver skater style skirt with a faint black snake skin on it i used to wear aged 17 . You had to be there. It was 1995.

Peridot1 · 21/09/2026 19:49

Love it. Have loved it since I was a teenager. I’m 62 now. My mum loved it too. And she loved Bet Lynch! Although my mum was way classier. I used to wear a leopard print top of my mum’s in the 80s with skin tight black velvet jeans tucked into black and red cowboy boots. It WAS the 80s!!! 😄

I have a lot of it now. Only ever wear one piece at a time.

I think it’s very Marmite. My sister hates it. Her DD loves it. I love it.

World would be such a boring place if we all liked the same thing!

EmailsaysOOO · 21/09/2026 19:50

Me too.. Always looks naff

I dislike them as well.

No it wasn’t about their sexual attitudes - I would say Bet and Pat were complete opposites on that character wise.

it was more about being ‘cheap’ but also being working class. So it was more a question around whether TV production still uses clothing in that way.

i guess it’s stereotyping

BeardySchnauzer · 21/09/2026 19:56

But also thinking about the characters they were also strong women who took no shit and maybe the animal print was to show they weren’t going to conform and would wear what they like

FKAT · 21/09/2026 19:56

I don't understand how anyone could say 'it reminds me of Bet Lynch' in anything but a positive way. 😄

Love animal print, love Bet Lynch. But it was Kate Moss who really brought it back in the 00s and 10s. God I miss 2010s fashion - leopardprint, skinny jeans, skater dresses, French tuck, heeled boots, boyfriend coats. [weeps]

My leopardprint is in storage, biding its time.

Zebra print OTOH can get in the bin.
