Beauty chat - freebies/gifts with purchase/offers THREAD TWENTY

OvaHere · 17/08/2026 20:18

New thread and it's welcome to the roaring twenties beauty addicts!

It's been a little quiet on the exciting edit and beauty releases front what with all the advent malarky but summer is drawing to a close and soon those autumn/winter releases and holiday edits will be popping up to tempt us.

If you're new here welcome and hello and for everyone else nice to see you back on Mumsnet's most tempting thread series that you cannot ignore even if you want to. 😈😍😂

@JoRaRaRa How did you manage to get the palette for £19.58? It’s coming up at £29 for me (I’m logged in on the app)

They were just that price when I went on 😕

Twinsandsome · 10/09/2026 19:41

@OvaHere I keep looking at the HG palettes but I think they’ve missed the mark this year for fairer skin. I bought the dragon palette 2 years ago and still use it every single day. I actually use it for eyes too the bronzer and highlight go on lovely x

They were showing as £21.25 each and the code took them down further, I also ended up ordering both yesterday but they seem to be back to full price today

I got the full RRP back on an item in the Sali Hughes edit which had gone bad but I threatened them with chargeback, breach of contract, etc. Took three or four messages but got there in the end.

That's what I ended up threatening them with; a chargeback as I've not received the advertised product. There were a lot of messages between me and the advisor and then the manager. I think if I had to guess, it would probably be about 60 messages 😳 we went round in circles for ages and they wanted so much proof, but I can be a bit like a dog with a bone 🤣

Well done! To be fair I was surprised they gave in so swiftly with me but I came on very strong from the outset as I was expecting a fight 😂 It was probably mostly luck though.

Just wanted to say thank you to whoever suggested using the pk elasticizer as a leave in styling product. 🤩🤩 my hairs not been great recently stress etc and dry anyway. Thanks meno. But I tried this in despair the other as have spent a fortune on hair stuff for wavy/curly hair. Its a real minefield. My hair loves the pk I leave it on overnight then wash out but omg my curls wrre fab. Still are after sleeping on. I have 1 side that struggles as its natural curl but ive a lovely ringlet all the way down plus everywhere else but thats my test area as it the biggest challenge. I really hope its not a one hit wonder but I think its the hydration I need without being too heavy. Thank you again. One happy curly girl 🤣🤩

I nearly bought one at that price yesterday but then I thought of my new drawers, looked at the pile of advents and had a word with myself. 😂

I probably should have done that but instead I saw I had a £5 credit so hit buy instead - will try find a home for them when they arrive 😂

I think the HG palette colours are very tricky. The one I have is too pale and others too pink and some of them very sparkly and dusty . I might just be getting old though and my palette is years old… I wish you could pick them individually and in person. I still love them but might need to find a dewier finishing powder if such a thing exists!

Have you tried the Morphe finishing powder. It's pretty good as are the blushes in the same range.

Morning everyone. I'd like to announce the creation of a private MN Beauty Chat FB group for strictly swaps, trades etc. (no general chit-chat, that is for here) A number of people have asked about having one, so as the OP of the thread series I decided to give it a try.

Invites are limited to posters who have regularly contributed on a minimum of two threads (either Beauty Chat or Advent threads). If this is something you are interested in PM one of @OvaHere @CinderellaParker @MrsBnow12

Not sure how much interest there will be but we all have work and commitments so apologies if it takes a little time to get to your PM.

Thank you

Those of you that have PM'd already. We're having some technical issues with invites which seem very hit and miss with how they work. We will be figuring it out over the next few days so bear with us. Thanks

I have this to try. I need to dig it out. 🤣🤩

Im going to treat my self to some zoeva eye liners. Possibly the set of 4. I had hildun ones but tried to sharpen one last night and it just kept breaking off so ended up binning. 🤔😪

IlovePond · 11/09/2026 10:04

Did someone say Harrods had a Rewards offer this weekend? Something about spend £10 and get extra points? Or did I imagine it?

I can’t see anything on Harrods’ site.

Thanks

I like the Zoeva ones. I also bought a couple from Mature Beauty (US influencer brand) and I really like them. They're my favourites at the moment as I find the brush end very helpful.

It was this coming weekend last year they ran the Rewards weekend and the discount worked on the advent. It was also when the BAC sold out last year I think.

Before joining these threads I'd never heard of Zoeva, suddenly I had 4 Zoeva eyeliners, I love them and rarely use anything else now

If you put pencils in the fridge or freezer for a bit they should be easier to sharpen - according to Jackie magazine circa 1979 😁

This sounds great! I have to decide if I want to set-up an FB account, I hate FB but very tempted 🤔.
