Here's hoping for lots more spoilers, bargains, discount codes, and maybe a little self-control (although judging by threads 1 and 2, that seems unlikely! 😄)

The Selfridges Fragrance calendar does look excellent. What is not yet known of course is the price. If it is priced similarly to Harrods the demand will be insane. But Selfridges previous fragrance edits had a lower value to price ration than Harrods. If, say, it is priced at £400 rather than under £250, there may not be quite the same buying frenzy.

I had a look back - Selfridges have never released the BAC earlier than 1 September, and indeed in previous years it was often later than that. When the BAC was in demand a few years ago it also did keep going in and out of stock with additional calendars released in an ad hoc way. I really hope they are planning a better process for the FAC.

@MidnightMeltdown I do like that K Beauty put exp dates on everything. I went through my stash at the weekend and pulled out some stuff with late 26/ early 27 expiry dates to prioritise for use.

I'm always a bit dubious of some of the non viral stuff that appears year after year. Such as the Rodial Bee Venom serum that's in Selfridges I'm sure last year one of the BACs had the Bee Venom eye cream. I see their stuff quite a bit in TKMaxx and I'm unconvinced the Bee Venom line is a top seller. I may be doing them a disservice here of course.

I don't think the reputable calendars would knowingly put in expired stock but some may be short dated. Nobody knows though due to the lack of expiry dates. I'm not someone who is uber strict about this (with my own stash) if a product passes the sniff test/hasn't visibly gone off but at the very least I'd like a best before date as a guideline.

@AprilLady I had considered they might price it higher - similar to that mega fragrance set Liberty did a couple of years ago that was around £450.

In a way I'll be grateful if they do price it around £100+ more than Harrods because that will concentrate my mind and reduce the FOMO.

@OvaHereI think it must be mandatory to put expiry dates on all beauty products in Korea. However, in the UK, I think it’s only mandatory for sunscreen. Seems odd, but I guess it would lead to a lot of dumped stock if they put expiry dates on everything! This is why I’m trying to be careful this year. I really need to use up what I have before buying more!

I have the Bee Venom eye cream. I think it was in JL last year. I haven’t opened it yet. I usually like Rodial products but haven’t tried anything with Bee venom yet. I imagine that the £200 price tag would put people off buying the serum! In my experience, face creams and serums in the £100+ range are never worth the money. This is partly why I’m less interested in Harrods these days.

There were several last year. I got Sylvan Glow. It was lovely.

One year I had the same cleanser from Harvey Nichols advent and Space NK - eve lom balm. The one from Harvey nicks was much harder/old look and feel, but completely dried out but that direction I didn't think Space NK does this or at least not as obvious

Oh that's a shame, I didn't realise it wasn't a universal reward :(

Morning everyone, I've seen a couple of news articles about Harvey Nichols potentially going into administration.
I would be cautious about pre-ordering their advent calendars as I believe customers would be last on the list of creditors and very unlikely to be reimbursed should the worst happen before advents are delivered.

Personally, I'm still open to the fragrance advent if they are available in store as I'm fortunate to have a HN store nearby.

If anyone is considering Anthropologie again who signed up for Anthroperks last year, you might have recently been sent a 20% off anniversary code. Just to say that this works on the AC and brings it down to £78.40 from £98 (contents worth £400)

I have it in my basket and am just weighing up the pros and cons. I'd say I really like half the contents and the other half are ok. 3 fragrances. 5ml phlur, 10ml floral street and 7ml strawberry perfume oil by Malin & Goetz. Hmm..

Crikey and Urgh the thought of Mike Ashley getting his sweaty mitts on Harvey Nicks. He ruined HoF.

Bee serum is a no go for me with very sensitive skin. Im not going to risk it.

I also prefer to have stuff in a calender i am inclined to buy again if it works. Getting a 200 or 300 pound cream might sound nice but when its gone Im not going to buy it. Id rather have some bougie perfume if they want to inflate the price but thats personal.

Holding out for SpaceNK and probably going for LookFantastic and a fragrance advent

I think this looks good. I’m waiting for someone wonderful like @MaryBD to do individual price breakdowns to work out if it’s as good value as it looks when I take into account the products I won’t use.

The Manchester store is still open, but it's a very depressing place to shop now. It used to be bustling with customers, had a busy piano bar and great concessions. Now it's empty, with a jumble sale feel and commercial radio blaring out. I used to spend hours browsing and shopping there, now I have to brace myself to go in on the very rare occasions that HoF might just have what I'm looking for (last time was Christmas, looking for sherry glasses. They didn’t have any).

Agree it's gone very dystopian in there..I recently had £10 Fraser points to spend and really struggled to find anything I actually wanted.

I got the 20% off code so was considering picking this up.

I'm a bit underwhelmed though. I can't remember what was in it last year but I feel like it was better maybe. I question the £400 value really.

It probably would be a nice gift with the discount but there's nothing it it I want.

HN news is not surprising but it is sad. One by one, decent department stores are disappearing. I love a department store.

It's such a shame. I do enjoy a browse around HN. They need to up their online game though. The app is a bit crap and the rewards system convoluted. The most I ever get sent seems to be 15% off offers for beauty stuff. The vast majority of the time I could get the same item from SpaceNK or Liberty when they run a 20% off deal. Even Harrods runs better discounts from time to time.

If the calendar comes out and if I want it I'll take a trip to the store and buy in person.

No, it didn't. I think the price may have eventually dropped about £5 or so. I've bought this the past couple of years, just because it's so bargainous!
