What colour shoes would suit this dress for a wedding?

Shoe colour to go with this dress. It’s for a wedding. I’m not a native to style and beauty and seem to really struggle with this stuff! I’m pale skinned if that helps, and not convinced I could carry off yellow gold (as suggested by a friend).

I want a block heel for comfort. Suggestions welcome, but mainly where I should stray colour wise.

Nude

beware you will be inundated with the pop of colour brigade and the clumpy black shoe brigade.

don’t do it, just a classy pair of nude shoes will work perfectly

Mulledjuice · 06/08/2026 09:31

I would do a bright colour but you sound unsure if you can even do gold so do what you feel comfortable with. Is silver out?

Nude, mushroom or navy would work but nude safest as you'd have to tone the others.

Just not black please

There was a thread on here yesterday or the day before asking for suggestions for block sandals for a wedding.

pouletvous · 06/08/2026 09:34

i would go gold low wedges

pouletvous · 06/08/2026 09:35

But then again, im a fully paid up member of the gold sandal brigade

StormGazing · 06/08/2026 09:36

I’d wear silver personally but I love silver and darker shades of blue … in fact it was my colour scheme at my wedding lol

Piccly · 06/08/2026 09:37

I'm very fair skinned and silver is my favourite goes with everything colour for shoes, especially sandals.

7238SM · 06/08/2026 09:49

I'd say silver or nude

Losingit25 · 06/08/2026 09:50

Nude or gold

WonderingWanda · 06/08/2026 09:51

I think skin tone and hair colour will play a part here. I am fair haired so nudes, gold or silver would work for me. Big bold colours less so. My friend could pull off a dark orange.

FoxRedPuppy · 06/08/2026 10:07

I was thinking gold, but I tried some on yesterday in Office and without sounding ridiculous they were so bright and gold! Maybe I need to be braver!

I’m a redhead.

Nude is utterly boring, silver a bit less so and would work with your colouring & the colour of the dress.

This is why I don’t normally come on style and beauty.

@FoxRedPuppywhat would you feel most comfortable with?

FoxRedPuppy · 06/08/2026 10:35

I think because I’m not particularly stylish (very much trainers and jeans most of the time), I worry that if I wear something too ‘bright’ or noticeable it will look odd. I used to be much braver with clothes and shoes when I was younger.

Now I’m 45 and never get dressed up so worry people would think “who the fuck does she think she is wearing gold shoes” 😂

Gold.

croisette · 06/08/2026 10:37

It’s a bit fast fashion on here, I have a pair of nude leather jimmy choo slingbacks that I wouldn’t just ditch as they are boring or blah; they are simple, well made and classic.
that said I think gold would look great, especially in a block heel. Sometimes you can find an oyster type gold if you don’t like bright yellow but either would work!

Gold is a neutral these days! I think you should go for it!

Daffodilsinthespring · 06/08/2026 10:39

Silver

cantsleepneedsleep · 06/08/2026 10:39

@FoxRedPuppyno-one will judge you for wearing metallic shoes, they are probably the most popular colours for dressy occasions.

cantsleepneedsleep · 06/08/2026 10:40

@croisettenude shoes do have a place

YouSawBrigadoon · 06/08/2026 10:47

Nude shoes seem terribly dated to me.

I’d go for silver. Like these from Esska.

So far I’ve found some I love, so comfy. But guarantee everyone will hate and probably not suitable with the dress
