What colour shoes would suit this dress for a wedding?

Shoe colour to go with this dress. It’s for a wedding. I’m not a native to style and beauty and seem to really struggle with this stuff! I’m pale skinned if that helps, and not convinced I could carry off yellow gold (as suggested by a friend).

I want a block heel for comfort. Suggestions welcome, but mainly where I should stray colour wise.

I think they are lovely 😍. But not sure about the gold. The black ones are better. I really like the nod to the Mary Jane style.

Yes I really like them!

They're really nice, get them.

I smiled when I saw your fly shoe choice @FoxRedPuppy , honestly? Personally, I would go with that. It's "cool", it's more "you", and one thing I hate about wedding guest outfits is the limited use a person gets from the items. Those sandals look like they could fold into your day to day life. You're not a mega star who needs to be catwalk ready for the paps. When I saw your dress, my thought was that I would wear good quality brown leather sandals, so I'm saying this as someone who also doesn't the more "wedding guest" style of shoe.

I agree with you, well it’s not cool, it will not be a good look with the dress, but who cares.she can wear them again

on saying that op, you could just wear a pair you have.

Pick a pair of Cobalt coloured shoes/sandals that tone in with the dress.

Wellshellsbells · 06/08/2026 17:15

bright pink!

Aargh. What on earth are those horrors?

And a blue dress with red flat shoes? She’s not channelling Dorothy.

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Seconded

MrsMoastyToasty · 06/08/2026 17:55

I'm thinking that an orange or fuchsia pink would go well.

This is how much I don’t go out, I don’t have any! I have one pair of nude-ish but they hurt like hell! Other wise I have flat sandals, trainers and doc martens 😂

I would prefer silver with the dress.
The blue is a “cool” colour and silver is “cool” also, whereas gold is “ warm”.
Or go very similar to the blue of the dress.

I think because I’m not particularly stylish (very much trainers and jeans most of the time), I worry that if I wear something too ‘bright’ or noticeable it will look odd. I used to be much braver with clothes and shoes when I was younger.

Now I’m 45 and never get dressed up so worry people would think “who the fuck does she think she is wearing gold shoes” 😂

Oh dear, by now you should be approaching ‘I don’t give a fuck what anyone thinks’ stage … hopefully it’ll be soon 🤩

ithinkilikethislittlelife · 06/08/2026 18:14

Pewter is lovely. It’s more of a burnt gold and goes with everything without being flashy like gold.

Divebar2021 · 06/08/2026 18:22

I like the Monsoon silver ones and I like these although not so much in the blue option. The metallic and the orange / pink would be a cool contrast and even the snakeprint would be a neutral option a bit more interesting than nude. A leopard print is also a neutral fyi. Whatever you do don’t try and match the handbag - that would be dated. Contrast the bag…. So if you go metallic for the shoes go for a hot pink bag or something embroidered maybe. The blue of the dress is quite saturated so the high contrast colours will work well. Do any friends have anything you can borrow so you’re not splashing out of something you won’t wear much ?

FoxRedPuppy · 06/08/2026 18:26

I eventually did find some today, and also ordered the monsoon ones.

@FoxRedPuppyi hope you have a lovely time

deeahgwitch · 06/08/2026 18:31

If you have chunkyish ankles please don’t go for ankle strap shoes.
It only accentuates them.

Porcuine20 · 06/08/2026 18:38

I have some Fly shoes called ‘Yuna’ that are a bit more delicate looking but are still really comfy and have a wedge heel. I have them in yellow and orange but they always used to do metallic ones too - might be worth a look? I have a dress the same colour I wore to a wedding, and wore it with sparkly silver sandals and silver jewellery.

Ilovelurchers · 06/08/2026 19:51

My first thought was yellow gold, failing that I would go for silver or perhaps rose gold? Possibly a lightish grey or a light brown, natural leather type colour at a push?

I'd avoid black, red, orange, a matching blue or indeed any other shade of blue. Any primary colours really.

White might just about be ok? But I would be looking at metallic shades if I were you.
