What colour shoes would suit this dress for a wedding?

Shoe colour to go with this dress. It’s for a wedding. I’m not a native to style and beauty and seem to really struggle with this stuff! I’m pale skinned if that helps, and not convinced I could carry off yellow gold (as suggested by a friend).

I want a block heel for comfort. Suggestions welcome, but mainly where I should stray colour wise.

A brave choice @FoxRedPuppy or you're on a wind up!

EmpressStorm · 06/08/2026 13:41

um well this is an unusual choice op. As the dress is probably one of the most ubiquitous boring dresses and very dated I’ve seen and the sandals you post don’t remotely go with it’, but you declare any form of nude shoe boring, I’m guessing you like more exciting footwear but not clothing?

YouSawBrigadoon · 06/08/2026 13:44

That is one fugly choice, OP 😂

FoxRedPuppy · 06/08/2026 13:44

I didn’t say nude footwear was boring! Everyone else did! I think because I generally wear trainers and doc martens I like the chunky element. I do love fly shoes.

The dress is pretty dull, but I never go out or to weddings so I comfort something from a charity shop. I have a much nicer dress but it’s too big for me and waiting to see if it can be altered.

i know those shoes won’t go with that dress. I just love them. I will keep looking. Feel like I’ve been in every shoe shop in my city.

I don’t like the really thin delicate shoes. I prefer chunkier, and something more substantial over the toe area. If that makes any sense.

I'd probably go with ivory shoes and bag. Mostly because they can be worn again with any summer dress.

cantsleepneedsleep · 06/08/2026 14:08

@FoxRedPuppyjust ignore the nude shoe wearers who are insulting your dress.

EmpressStorm · 06/08/2026 14:14

Issue you face is the dress is a delicate chiffon type material, so chunky won’t work well with it, not in the style you like.

It's a gorgeous dress so I suggest a red shoe.

How about these OP? https://www.next.co.uk/style/SU821389/H87051
Closed toes, wedges, ivory with a gold strap and you could definitely wear them again.

Bloody old fashioned.

Bet you think wearing socks with sandals isn't trendy.

It's the colour really.

Pearlstillsinging · 06/08/2026 15:11

I would put light blue accessories with that dress. There are loads about atm.

Silver or nude

Isometimeswonder · 06/08/2026 15:47

@FoxRedPuppy personally i would go for opposite on the colour wheel, which would be orange/yellow. But I like contrasting colours!
Silver is better with that blue, if you go metallic.

Mrsmessyhairdontcare · 06/08/2026 15:52

I wore a dress similar to this for a wedding and wore silver sparkly heels from New Look and also silver statement jewellery and silver bag.

Markovenchip · 06/08/2026 16:01

Slate-grey

Aargh. What on earth are those horrors?

And a blue dress with red flat shoes? She’s not channelling Dorothy.

EverythingIsComputer · 06/08/2026 16:21

I have the onyx (dark gold) Esska Charlie model and they go with everything and are super comfortable

ByQuaintAzureWasp · 06/08/2026 16:25

Silver

I smiled when I saw your fly shoe choice @FoxRedPuppy , honestly? Personally, I would go with that. It's "cool", it's more "you", and one thing I hate about wedding guest outfits is the limited use a person gets from the items. Those sandals look like they could fold into your day to day life. You're not a mega star who needs to be catwalk ready for the paps. When I saw your dress, my thought was that I would wear good quality brown leather sandals, so I'm saying this as someone who also doesn't the more "wedding guest" style of shoe.
