Beauty & Fragrance Advent Calendars- Info/Chat 2026 SPOILERS

Hi everyone who is joining from the Beauty GWP chat threads and welcome to anyone else.

Last year our lovely @BakeOffRewatch did an amazing job running all the threads through to December. This year due to the time commitment it takes, we're going to try and run them as a community effort.

Guidelines
I'm starting this first one but hoping that when a thread looks close to ending another thread member can set the next one up.

To avoid duplicate threads please try to post in the thread that's ending to alert everyone you're setting up a new one.

Other members check who was first to offer and whether a new one is live.

It might be an idea to keep a list of advents that are live in the OP and later on which are sold out. This can be copy/pasted/edited when a new thread is started.

It probably goes without saying but please be courteous and patient with each other. This thread will have spoilers and please no judging of others for their purchasing choices. Participation in the threads is optional.

I don't know how well this will work out but thanks in advance to everyone who helps out.

@Sminty2 sorry for your loss. Glad you've found something that helps you fell like you again. This group is lovely. Ive only been on around a year and have truly appreciated the nice calmness and joy of all things beauty. 🤩♥️

Growlybear83 · 19/07/2026 18:49

I’ve always wanted Diptyque, but each year Ive checked my stash and Ive always had several 10ml bottles of fragrances in the calendar so haven’t been able to justify it. I’ve had some wonderful bargains with previous years advent calendars. I was one of the people who got Penhaligon’s calendars from the outlet shop last year and the year before, and I think I paid £98. I also bought two Aqua di Parma calendars from TK Maxx three years ago for £90 each, and last year I got a l’artisan parfumeur calendar from the previous year half price.

Keffert · 19/07/2026 18:58

@hattie43 I would probably choose the two that most appealed this year and bear the other two in mind for next year says the person who ended up with three last year

IlovePond · 19/07/2026 19:13

@hattie43 - definitely contact the Penhaligon’s outlets at Bicester and York to see if they have last year’s a/c reduced. I think both stores will also post goods to customers - at least they used to.

I have seen the a/c half price in both places on previous years.

JoRaRaRa · 19/07/2026 17:21

If that's the only thing that might put you off, maybe go compare the shades and just see what you think in person. Or sell the lipstick on vinted and buy yourself another shade 💁🏻‍♀️ I wasn't keen on the Mac lippy from last year's, so I sold it and bought a nude one. Funny enough though, I actually haven't even opened that one 🤣

Ah no, it’s not just that, I think it’s just that the lipstick shade has really confirmed that this isn’t the calendar for me! I also don’t want the Charlotte Tilbury lipstick, the eyelash curlers, the hairspray, the tanning stuff, the Phillip Kingsley, the tatcha, and the eyeshadow pencil. Plus there are a few things that I suspect I won’t like (usually not a fan of Montale or lip glosses in general). I like the EGF serum, but I already have a couple in my stash, and likewise with the hourglass blush. I already have several eye creams to get through too, so I just don’t think that I can justify buying Harrods.

I need to be super picky this year because I already have too much stuff, so really can’t justify buying more than one (although I can’t be held responsible for buying any that are reduced! 😂. Might have to initiate a new rule that any cut price calendars don’t count in your total advent calendar count…)

hattie43 · 19/07/2026 19:20

@Keffertgood advice but I’ll need to find some restraint lol

@IlovePondI think the magic would be lost if I got it ‘ after the event ‘ so to speak but it’s worth looking at if I don’t buy it for Christmas. I also need to remind myself that I don’t love every scent Penhaligons do eg I really dislike Halfeti which is one of their bestsellers .

IlovePond · 19/07/2026 19:23

Yes, I really dislike Halfeti too @hattie43 !

pinkchampagne1 · 19/07/2026 19:38

I’m not a fan of Halfeti either. I sold the one that came in my JL radiance box.

Growlybear83 · 19/07/2026 19:42

@MidnightMeltdown I think that sounds like an excellent rule that cut price calendars don’t count 😆.

I agree with others Halfeti - it’s one of only a handful of perfumes that I reallly don’t like and I always sell it if I get a bottle in a calendar or edit,

Thelifeofawife · 19/07/2026 19:45

I like the Halfeti and was gifted a big bottle of it, but I don’t wear it much due to having accumulated so many new fragrances this year. I also sold my small one from the JL radiance box.

I’ve still got a couple of new bottles to try from my Escentuals bargain haul, Guerlain ones (full size).
Now I think about it, I really shouldn’t even be contemplating getting any FAC’s, especially as I got the Harrods scent tote recently

CinderellaParker · 19/07/2026 20:12

Shocked by the dislike of Halfeti! It’s my signature scent (naff phrase I know) and I even have the hand lotion in the downstairs loo. Must keep an eye on Vinted for all these unwanted bottles

That’s an amazing price for Penhaligons. I bought it the year before last from Bicester (online) and paid £198. It had a big bottle (and a small one!) of the dreaded Halfeti- I am also not a fan. It was beautiful to look at but I found it very sandy and was not tempted a second time.

I bought Diptyque last year and have kept it unopened in my front room for the whole year. It’s very beautiful - I’ll open it this year but maybe as an Autumn calendar to make the most of the fragrances and candles as the nights draw in. Then it’s space can be filled with a beauty advent come December.

JoRaRaRa · 19/07/2026 20:18

@MidnightMeltdown there's a few of those things I'm not too fussed about either. I may sell them and buy makeup. The skincare just sounds so good. But there's plenty of others to come out yet so we'll see.

I think that's a brill idea that discounted ACs don't count 🥰 that means I only got 7 last year instead of 12 🙈

Addictedtobeauty · 19/07/2026 20:18

Samey, not Sandy!

Sminty2 · 19/07/2026 20:22

@Addictedtobeauty and @Growlybear83 that’s a great tip! I never thought about buying them online from Bicester! Thanks.

NC543210 · 19/07/2026 20:27

I've just seen on tiktok that it looks as though boots are going to do a FAC this year
Interested to see what's in that as the Harrods one doesn't look as good as last year.
Really hope space nk up their FAC game too

I contacted them by WhatsApp last week and they don’t have any advent calendars in stock at the moment, but hope to get some.

oooh that could be exciting!

pinkchampagne1 · 19/07/2026 20:47

I’m not interested in the PK shampoo & conditioner, CW hairspray (haven’t used hairspray since the 90s!), tanning spray or eyelash curler from the Harrods calendar so will also probably sell those bits if I get it. There are always a few disappointing bits in the calendar, but the skin care in the Harrods beauty calendar more than makes up for those few products so I am still liking the look of it.

Would like to see what’s in the JL calendar, but they are usually one of the last to reveal their advent contents and I don’t want to risk Harrods selling out. 🤔

SummerLimes · 19/07/2026 20:52

OvaHere · 19/07/2026 12:45

I actually just tried the mini from the CB 90s edit last night. Need to try again with an eyelash curler as I just gave it a quick test in bad lighting. It seems quite a dry formula - is that normal?

Favourite at the moment is YSL lash latex.

I don’t normally find that dry, I hope you don’t have a dud one.

It was a lovely shopping experience. You browse a catalogue via WhatsApp and put things in your basket. The lovely lady then emails a payment link and WhatsApp’s a copy of your receipt. I had a lovely surprise when I opened the box as she had put in lots of extra samples. I ordered on 1st September but they’d had them a while then, so I’d check in August.

I was very sorry to read about your recent loss and sadness. If you can afford the calendar, buy it and rejoice in it every day. I heard a great mantra on Radio 4 the other day on a programme about aging.
It’s not the years in your life that count as much as the life in your years. Quality over quantity -
make the most of every day.

I think I'm going to hang on for others to reveal. I like Harrods but don't think I would be devastated if I missed out. Unless they've made less of them this year there's a good chance it won't sell out until September-ish, like last year.

I am hoping it doesn’t sell out too fast. The 2024 calendar sold out fast but it was a really good one that year. Last year it hung around a little longer and even got reduced a little if I remember correctly.

Yes I bought it on an impulse when they reduced it slightly. Was it a £10 or £20 discount? I can't remember.
