Hi everyone who is joining from the Beauty GWP chat threads and welcome to anyone else.

Last year our lovely @BakeOffRewatch did an amazing job running all the threads through to December. This year due to the time commitment it takes, we're going to try and run them as a community effort.

Guidelines
I'm starting this first one but hoping that when a thread looks close to ending another thread member can set the next one up.

To avoid duplicate threads please try to post in the thread that's ending to alert everyone you're setting up a new one.

Other members check who was first to offer and whether a new one is live.

It might be an idea to keep a list of advents that are live in the OP and later on which are sold out. This can be copy/pasted/edited when a new thread is started.

It probably goes without saying but please be courteous and patient with each other. This thread will have spoilers and please no judging of others for their purchasing choices. Participation in the threads is optional.

I don't know how well this will work out but thanks in advance to everyone who helps out.

Perhaps you have a good memory, but mine is awful. I need to know what's in an advent calendar before I order, to know whether I will use / like most of the contents, otherwise there's no point in buying it. But there's months between ordering and opening, and I will have completely forgotten what's in it by then, so it will still be a nice surprise.

Absolutely this. Months of research but then I've read and watched so many u boxing, I've totally forgotten by December but can be confident I've picked the best one for me 🤩

Have you tried Hourglass @OvaHere they are very va va voom

I actually just tried the mini from the CB 90s edit last night. Need to try again with an eyelash curler as I just gave it a quick test in bad lighting. It seems quite a dry formula - is that normal?

Favourite at the moment is YSL lash latex.

I’m so sorry for your loss @Sminty2 - I too find joy in this thread for various reasons.

Re: Some of the previous posts - I don’t think we should poke the 🧌 🧌 (ignoring is the best way).

Having looked up the Rose Portofino shade of the Sisley lipstick I'm now not sure. I thought it would be a bit of a deeper pink. It could look lovely or I'll look like night of the living dead. 😂

Ooooh, I think this has ruled out Harrods for me. That is very pale lipstick! I’m olive skinned and even Pillow Talk is too pale for me. I feel like this shade will only work for people with very pale skin. Having a lipstick shade paler than your natural lip colour is rarely good look.

@Addictedtobeauty i loved SNK last year and I wish they’d reveal soon. My favourite new find was the Lisa Eldridge mascara. Very fluttery but not in an ott way.

Im using it atm, and im enjoying using it. I love how my lashes look. My other favourite from the SNK AC was the Westman Atelier blush⭐️

OvaHere · 18/07/2026 08:59

That tends to be what I go for. My most perfect lipstick (that I own) is the dusky pink from the Chanel Rouge Noir collection - 357 Irreverente.

Yes! This is more the shade that I’d like to see in calendars. I think it’s a bit more inclusive. However, I think they often tend to include the less popular shades that are more difficult to sell!

It's not totally clear it is that shade. Another poster photographed it in store and it looks more peachy/warm. Maybe don't rule it out just yet until they actually reveal.

This is why I love everything Lisa Eldridge I’ve ever tried. It’s made for real life, not trying to recreate fake. Effective and subtle at the same time.

I got a lovely Lisa Eldridge lipstick in a calendar one year. It’s called velvet blush and the colour and formulation are great. Have repurchased a couple of times since.

Ah yes, I just saw that post too. Good job that we have some beauty detectives on the ground!

Unfortunately I don’t think that shade will work for me either as I’m cool toned. Will keep an eye out for the reveal though.

IlovePond · 19/07/2026 16:17

I’ve just popped a couple of items from the JL event into my DIY refilled Liberty calendar and rearranged a few drawers. (As you do in the middle of July on a Sunday afternoon 😹)

I have more or less decided - unless there are some spectacular bargains AND absolutely fantastic calendars on offer - that I will just have my DIY a/c and my S&G 2025 Boots bargain for Xmas 26.

Exceptions might be:

LF fragrance calendar - should this reappear.

A calendar from Boots that I can buy with my Advantage points.

Alternatively, I might spend my Boots points on one of the single brand Xmas gift sets OR a perfume.

However, I am still eagerly awaiting all the calendar reveals, and fully expect all these good intentions to go out the window at some point 🙀

If that's the only thing that might put you off, maybe go compare the shades and just see what you think in person. Or sell the lipstick on vinted and buy yourself another shade 💁🏻‍♀️ I wasn't keen on the Mac lippy from last year's, so I sold it and bought a nude one. Funny enough though, I actually haven't even opened that one 🤣

So sorry for your loss, Sminty2.

@Sminty2 So sorry for your loss 💐 I’m glad that these threads and the beauty bargains are helping to bring you some happiness.
Not the same circumstances, but I too have found these threads a welcomed distraction during difficult times. Sometimes the little things can make a big difference

Same, it was why I signed up last year. These threads were my sanctuary and helped take my mind off it, along with the making of my Frankenstein calendar. My work were really good though and didn't expect too much from me, I don't think I could get away with the amount of work time I used to create my ac this year though 🙈🤣

Branster · 19/07/2026 17:46

@Sminty2I am so sorry for your loss and I can’t even begin to imagine what difficult times you have to deal with. These threads really are a safe and welcoming place for like minded women and there is a wealth of knowledge shared between all of us, good escapism and very informative in helpful in equal measure. I’m a beauty addict myself and am pleased to know I’m not alone. Nobody in real life would truly understand this obsessive ‘hobby’ of mine.
I’d also recommend the Cats section on MN. I’ve never owned a cat and know absolutely zero about cats, but I find the cats people on here are incredibly kind and supportive to each other and there are also tons of amusing first hand cats stories and the photos are brilliant, all those beautiful felines, a joy to see. I often sneak in there to reassure myself that MN is still full of nice normal souls.

Spacenk is always annoyingly quite late at a full reveal. Frustrating because that, Harrods and Liberty are usually the three I most want to compare. Maybe Cult Beauty as a fourth.

I did a mini analysis of last years and what I ended up keeping, I was surprised it was less than I thought. I definitely bought it for the handful of star products like the Medik8 serum and Tatcha Vit C. There was a lot of stuff like lip oil and mascara that I don't have much need for at the moment.

Last year I'd decided I was having Spacenk no matter what because I regretted not getting in 2024. It was worth it for the expensive actives but I need to give it some critical thought this year as I'm sure it will increase in price again by about £10. I'd saved quite a lot in vouchers towards it last year, not managed to save any this year.

I think there's a good chance they'll put this in it for 2026. They put the peptides advanced in last year when that was a new product.
https://www.spacenk.com/uk/skincare/treatment/serums/exo-pdrn-prismatic-MUK200064210.html

For Tatcha maybe the longevity serum or cream, the eye brightening cream or a full size dewy milk. Possibly the new sunscreen which I would like to try.

I agree. I think that’s a strong contender for SNK this year…that or the new Medik8 cleanser. I wouldn’t be upset if they included the peptides advanced mp again - I love that serum. On my 4th bottle now. Unlikely though. Perhaps in CB. I can dream! I’m hoping there might some new Prequel, Hourglass and Refy too.

hattie43 · 19/07/2026 18:13

I’m really struggling this year . I’ve decided on Liberty and Diptique but I’m also coveting Penhaligons and Jo Loves . Do I bankrupt myself or be sensible and stick to my two definites . This will be my first year of treating myself to advent calendars and it’s a new world to explore .

LightandBreezy · 19/07/2026 18:18

@hattie43 the Diptyque calendars always look so lovely, that's a great choice. I've never got one but they are always highly coveted here and quite special. I think in previous years some people have managed to get the Penhaligon's one at outlet stores - so that might be an idea how to get 3 of them without breaking the bank.

Caggie09 · 19/07/2026 18:25

I eye up the Diptyque advent every year, and never go for it. I always think i should just spend the price and get the candle/perfume i want.
Im also having second thoughts on the Harrods Fragrance, which i know closer to the time ill have FOMO😬 I might just buy a couple of fragrances i want when a GWP is running instead.

JoRaRaRa · 19/07/2026 18:27

@fish1818181 great detective work 🕵🏻‍♀️
