Beauty & Fragrance Advent Calendars- Info/Chat 2026 SPOILERS

Hi everyone who is joining from the Beauty GWP chat threads and welcome to anyone else.

Last year our lovely @BakeOffRewatch did an amazing job running all the threads through to December. This year due to the time commitment it takes, we're going to try and run them as a community effort.

Guidelines
I'm starting this first one but hoping that when a thread looks close to ending another thread member can set the next one up.

To avoid duplicate threads please try to post in the thread that's ending to alert everyone you're setting up a new one.

Other members check who was first to offer and whether a new one is live.

It might be an idea to keep a list of advents that are live in the OP and later on which are sold out. This can be copy/pasted/edited when a new thread is started.

It probably goes without saying but please be courteous and patient with each other. This thread will have spoilers and please no judging of others for their purchasing choices. Participation in the threads is optional.

I don't know how well this will work out but thanks in advance to everyone who helps out.

@Growlybear83 I'm not very good at doing the actual gardening stuff, like cutting the grass or pulling out the weeds. So it becomes an overgrown mess, made pretty with a load of potted plants 🤣 Mine keep dying in the heat too 😞 I had 1 gorgeous rose and that got scorched.

It's the oldest beauty tip in the book for plants as for skin - water, water, water... every day - either early in the morning or later in the evening. Never when the sun is hot.

CorneliaStreet · 19/07/2026 10:52

I’m pretty good at doing destructive gardening, like pruning and weeding, less good at actually growing stuff. I’m in a long term war against the brambles trying to reclaim the bottom end of our garden and spend most of the summer with scratches all over my arms 😂

CorneliaStreet · 19/07/2026 10:53

The picture on the post about the Boots advents on Beauty Detective isn’t very clear but looks like there is going to be a main calendar and a skincare one again. The skincare one last year was great.

Same! I'll probably wait for Harvey nicks, Spacenk, cult beauty, Sephora and Selfridge's, maybe John Lewis and vogue too before making my final decision 😊 but it depends when they all reveal. I don't really want to leave it too late before ordering, so if they've not revealed by late August / early sept, it'll be Harrods as of now that I go with. I might swap out some of the makeup though. I keep saying stuff like this and realising that I'm going to end up with another Frankenstein 🤣🤣

Spacenk is always annoyingly quite late at a full reveal. Frustrating because that, Harrods and Liberty are usually the three I most want to compare. Maybe Cult Beauty as a fourth.

I did a mini analysis of last years and what I ended up keeping, I was surprised it was less than I thought. I definitely bought it for the handful of star products like the Medik8 serum and Tatcha Vit C. There was a lot of stuff like lip oil and mascara that I don't have much need for at the moment.

Last year I'd decided I was having Spacenk no matter what because I regretted not getting in 2024. It was worth it for the expensive actives but I need to give it some critical thought this year as I'm sure it will increase in price again by about £10. I'd saved quite a lot in vouchers towards it last year, not managed to save any this year.

I think there's a good chance they'll put this in it for 2026. They put the peptides advanced in last year when that was a new product.

For Tatcha maybe the longevity serum or cream, the eye brightening cream or a full size dewy milk. Possibly the new sunscreen which I would like to try.

Medik8 Exo-PDRN Prismatic+ | Space NK

Improve skin vitality with Medik8 Exo-PDRN Prismatic+ (30ml), a PDRN serum with exosomes for improved radiance, texture and resilience.

Yes I have been watering every evening. I installed an irrigation system a couple of years ago which has helped the flower beds to an extent, but most of the garden is in full sun every day, and this heatwave has just been a bit too much for some things. I think I shall look at growing different annuals next year thst can cope a bit better with extreme heat.

SummerLimes · 19/07/2026 11:19

@Keffert i admire your restraint 😊.

I have purchased so many edits that I’m going to try to only buy 1 advent. I’ve started a box of things for DH to put in a spare AC and I’ve also starting selling things from edits straight away that I don’t need.
I’ve spent t a lot this year, I’ve more disposable income in my 50s (still remember the ouch of nursery fees), and I struggle knowing what clothes to buy. I’ve 2 teens that I indulge but I want to be healthy, strong and groomed too.

Make up and fragrance is a complete joyful hobby.

SummerLimes · 19/07/2026 11:22

although in my head I’m late 40s.

Addictedtobeauty · 19/07/2026 11:40

I’ve bought my DD the SNK for the last two years and will do so again this year. Without fail, I’m jealous of her calendar 😂. They do such a good job. It’s definitely the best for a healthy mix of make up, skin and hair. In my 50s, I prefer exceptional skin care.
I did also buy a bargain LiB for DD last year and she loved that in January- thought it was really good variation and value (think I only paid about £76 on TikTok).
I also thought the Elle and You advents were really good last year at about the £100 mark.

Yep, I water them when I let the dog out before bed, but I get sun all day in my garden and I think it's just been too much this year. My delphinia has really struggled and usually it's huge 😔 Most of them still look good, especially at the front where there isn't as much sunshine.

SummerLimes · 19/07/2026 11:56

@Addictedtobeauty i loved SNK last year and I wish they’d reveal soon. My favourite new find was the Lisa Eldridge mascara. Very fluttery but not in an ott way.

I like that idea of analysing what was kept. Did you keep a list of what you sold things for (price wise and reason)? I think that's going to be my spreadsheet for tomorrow. Although I think I did keep most of the Harrods. I bought the CB one when it was on offer and I think I've sold most of that in bits since we got it. It very much was an impulse purchase and I didn't get chance to re-review my spreadsheet.

Snk and Harrods were my faves last year, but I have also liked some of the others through the years, but I'm not going to wait if they're going to take ages. I don't feel like any can realistically beat Harrods on skincare this year.

Ooo I still have this to try. I'll bump it up to next in my list 😊

SummerLimes · 19/07/2026 11:58

I sold a lot of Harrods last year, I think I liked the thought of more than if the products were right for me.

Honestly I’d pay real money for it.

Sminty2 · 19/07/2026 12:01

JoRaRaRa · 19/07/2026 10:29

I'll have to have a look at them. I'm not really interested in the actual garden part, just the planting of more and more flowers 🤣 that's my other obsession. Oh and clothes. And the theatre. No wonder I'm skint 🙈

I love these beauty threads too for the loveliness in all the posts. It’s non judgmental and happy.

I’ve learned so much about skincare and beauty from everyone and not to get too mushy about it, but it’s helped me enormously to get myself back to being human after my husband of 40 years died.

Trying new products, just having fun with skincare & makeup, (something I haven’t done for years) is both liberating and empowering.

Thank you.

ps: I also love plants, flowers and lovely frocks too ♥️

It was probably me who bought it all 🤣 I ended up with a load of backups, even before I'd tried some of the stuff. I can't resist a bargain.

Growlybear83 · 19/07/2026 12:04

I think I need to weed out my skincare stash. I filled an old 12 day calendar with bits thst i didnt want last year and gave it to my local charity shop, and they were really pleased with it. I felt it was the least i could do after they had searched their entire stockroom, with several hundred bags, after I realised I’d left my house keys in one of the bags I’d dropped off the day before 🤣

This is why I love everything Lisa Eldridge I’ve ever tried. It’s made for real life, not trying to recreate fake. Effective and subtle at the same time.

No I didn't keep tally but I know some stuff took a while to shift and only sold for a few £. Off the top of my head things like the SNK brand body lotion, Glossier lip balm and the Summer Fridays lip oil took quite a few weeks. I'm not bothered though as sometimes I like to take a bit of time to consider whether something's a keep or declutter.

I did list them after xmas when the market was probably saturated. Best time to shift stuff for best price is probably as soon as the AC's get sent out. I saved SNK (and Harrods) as my December opening calendars.

I've been disappointed with the Kitten lashes mascara. I bought the first one direct from LE so subsequent ones from AC/edits I've sold on.

I have shit, barely there, dead straight lashes though. If you've got decent lashes in the first place I can see it would be nice. I need significant scaffolding to achieve a 'natural' look. 😂
