Beauty & Fragrance Advent Calendars- Info/Chat 2026 SPOILERS

Hi everyone who is joining from the Beauty GWP chat threads and welcome to anyone else.

Last year our lovely @BakeOffRewatch did an amazing job running all the threads through to December. This year due to the time commitment it takes, we're going to try and run them as a community effort.

Guidelines
I'm starting this first one but hoping that when a thread looks close to ending another thread member can set the next one up.

To avoid duplicate threads please try to post in the thread that's ending to alert everyone you're setting up a new one.

Other members check who was first to offer and whether a new one is live.

It might be an idea to keep a list of advents that are live in the OP and later on which are sold out. This can be copy/pasted/edited when a new thread is started.

It probably goes without saying but please be courteous and patient with each other. This thread will have spoilers and please no judging of others for their purchasing choices. Participation in the threads is optional.

There's a number of others with waitlists open and it's been announced that the 3 Harrods calendars are coming soon.

I’ve never bought Harrods before, is it released on the app first? When was it launched last year does anyone know? Want to be on it, although I know you lovely people will be so I’ll find out here!!

I'm leaning towards Harrods over Liberty at the moment. They're are a few things in Liberty I really like though. Part of me is thinking get both and sell everything I don't want on arrival. I'll probably want SNK too though...and this is how I end up with a gazillion advents despite best intentions.

@26inprogress comments on the Harrods you tube channel say to sign up to rewards and the app to be notified first. I am sure I purchased mine the first Monday of August around 1pm.
It was a blind purchase but I decided I could cancel as it takes time to be dispatched.

I thought it was on the Monday. That article says it was Tuesday. Maybe that was the official day but they actually dropped it a day before anyone expected.

I want the Harrods BAC and FC and I'm probably going to use my BD credit for Liberty. Im hoping I don't like any of the others now, or everyone will be getting home made gifts for Christmas but I'll look and smell amazing 😂

I've started my spreadsheet to try and get a grip on reality some clarity. 😂

So initial content scores are

Liberty - Yes 9/25 No 7/25 Maybe 9/25

Harrods - Yes 21/32 No 3/32 Maybe 8/32

On the face of it Harrods is a clear winner but I guess I need to factor in some of these are small sizes e.g teeny tiny Tatcha which I'm not excited about but will use. Also a few things are a yes because they'd go to someone else e.g the CW hairspray and PK Shampoo and Conditioner would go to DS.

Also Harrods will cost me £270 but Liberty only about £50 once I've used vouchers.

Not sure I've reached optimum clarity just yet. 🤔

Edit to add - I've also highlighted what I consider to be star products (for me) and both BACs come out with 5.

The items that don’t interest me in the Harrods calendar are the PK shampoo and conditioner (I have thick hair so don’t need to use anything that might add volume), the CW hair spray as I don’t use hair spray, and the eyelash curlers. Other than those items, I think I would use all the rest.

Maybe buy both and create a Frankenstein 😊

I started my spreadsheet too and done first initial scores, Liberty scored an overall 6.8 and Harrods 9.4 out of 10. I need to do it properly though. That might be a job for tomorrow afternoon if work is quiet 😊

I'm quite happy to have pk and color wow, plus some of the unexciting makeup because the skincare is so good and takes up a lot of the value.

Pdm now do the palatine in 30ml, I feel like it should've been that one in the Harrods FAC 🤔

My daughter has checked the calendars for me and Liberty has 3 DoD and Harrods has 6. She thinks I will prefer Liberty but Harrods has lots of cool things too!
I had Harrods last year so maybe due a change back to Liberty and I do like the box.

Just popping in to say that to my surprise my relative is in charge of this for a Big brand.
She watches these threats with great entertainment😆

Oh, how exciting! Which brand? Any clues? Hopefully they have steered their curation away from PK elasticiser, black eyeliner and red lipstick!

@JoJuniorShabadoo well hopefully from reading these threads they'll know that we don't like repeat products, red lipsticks, cheap serums, and teeny weeny 'what's the point' sizes. Glad we're doing a service 🫡🤣

I don't really buy one brand calendars, however I did pick up the Elemis x Harrods, Tatcha and Eve Lom in the January sales. I wouldn't pay full price as I don't feel that there's enough of a saving.

But I love red lipstick!

I'm really dithering over whether I actually need any of this crap. I just seem to be accumulated more and more bottles of things and I wonder if the money would be better to spend on something I actually want.

@JoJuniorShabadoo ive accumulated so much these last 18 months. Im definitely going to be more mindful this year, hopefully. Ive been sorting out as beauty, Liberty edits and gep, had took over my bedding and towels cupboards so I had to do something. I got the harrods elemis advent reduced and am trying whether to use the smart stuff or sell. Fomo. 🤣
Im coming actress stuff id completely forgotten id bought. I move stuff around so takes an age to find stuff. 🤣🤩

Buying multiple BACs works best when you're fairly ruthless about keeping the star products and selling/passing on the stuff you don't want quite quickly. This is assuming the maths adds up and you're getting those key products at quite a discount once you've shifted the excess product.

Also being a bit hard hearted about shifting the pretty boxes somewhere like FB marketplace or just putting in the recycling.

I do not always follow my own advice and faffing about with Vinted etc. can be a bit labour intensive so I need to be in the right headspace and not too busy with other stuff.

Between xmas and new year I went to town on Vinted plus giving some stuff to friends/family. I hop on and off the fence on whether it's worth it to do this but I suppose as an example - there's a couple of scents in the Harrods FAC I really want. Buying them retail would be around £400 just for two. So if I can manage to get the calendar for £225 then sell/pass on those I'm not keen on then it makes sense.

I guess the ideal situation would be if I had no idea of the existence of things like the Harrods Fragrance Advent and I was living my life in ignorant bliss but that genie is out of the bottle now. 😂

@JoJuniorShabadoo I like a red lipstick, but I don't need one in every ac, edit and gift set 🤣 plus I have 8 to pick from already - no more is needed.

@Doglover73 I think I'm going to keep the pro smart stuff from mine and sell everything else apart from the night creams. I've kept them under the bed as I actually can't decide if I want to do a countdown with them or just open them like an edit. I also don't have space for them, but if I actually opened them, I might stop buying other things 🤔

@OvaHere this is where I fall short, I'm not strict enough with what I'm selling and if I see it's going for less than I thought it would on vinted then I decide I might as well keep it for myself 🙈 I think I'm scared that I'll run out of something. My gran had a massive cupboard full of gift sets that she'd never opened, I think I'm going to end up like her.
