Hi everyone who is joining from the Beauty GWP chat threads and welcome to anyone else.

Last year our lovely @BakeOffRewatch did an amazing job running all the threads through to December. This year due to the time commitment it takes, we're going to try and run them as a community effort.

Guidelines
I'm starting this first one but hoping that when a thread looks close to ending another thread member can set the next one up.

To avoid duplicate threads please try to post in the thread that's ending to alert everyone you're setting up a new one.

Other members check who was first to offer and whether a new one is live.

It might be an idea to keep a list of advents that are live in the OP and later on which are sold out. This can be copy/pasted/edited when a new thread is started.

It probably goes without saying but please be courteous and patient with each other. This thread will have spoilers and please no judging of others for their purchasing choices. Participation in the threads is optional.

I don't know how well this will work out but thanks in advance to everyone who helps out.

@SheilaFentiman I had the boots skincare one last year and got it for something like £57. It was an absolute bargain for stocking up on basics. I’ve said I’m not getting a calendar this year but I would definitely make an exception for this one.

SheilaFentiman · 06/07/2026 22:34

Thank you @Keffert - I have about £16 of points and will earn more over the year so that might be a good use of them 🙂

HollyGolightly4 · 07/07/2026 01:17

@sheilafentiman just remember you can't pay partially in points- so annoying!

Isabelle70 · 07/07/2026 07:27

@SheilaFentiman do you use the boots recycle app, can get some extra points that way for a little bit of work.

SheilaFentiman · 07/07/2026 07:30

@HollyGolightly4 oh I forgot that!! Grr.

@Isabelle70 There isn’t a boots in my town but I will see if the one near the office has one (before I haul in a bag of empties 😀)

I’ve had at least 4 emails in the last week about pre-ordering the liberty advent calendar. I don’t recall such a hard sell before. I would under if the preorders aren’t selling as well as they hoped. 🤔 I would love to preorder but sadly because you can’t select a delivery date I need to wait until I’m back off my holiday in September.

IlovePond · 07/07/2026 09:18

@Beautyfox - Liberty made the decision to put in a load of minis/sample sized items, (we know they will have got these free from the suppliers), far too many ‘niche’ perfumes, (it’s not just me that hates them), and some very cheap products in the a/c. (There’s one lotion in there with a RRP of £3!) Plus, there are all those weird lotions, rather than what many people actually want: eye cream and moisturiser!

It shouldn’t, therefore, have come as a surprise to Liberty that people are not snapping their hands off!

As it’s the first major calendar launch, (I am not counting PLouise as that doesn’t have general appeal imo), many people are also waiting to see what the other big beasts have to offer.

There’s also the price - more expensive than last year’s and, imo, a lot worse.

It probably will sell out, but I wouldn’t be that surprised if it doesn’t.

HollyGolightly4 · 07/07/2026 09:25

@ilovepond absolutely read that as big breasts 🤣🙈

I think you must have one of my emails. Despite contacting them, I never get the emails for the advent calendar or Beauty Drop weeks.

Same. Despite having been assured by customer service they’ve been sent. Maybe there’s a force field round our in boxes.

Beautyfox · 07/07/2026 17:32

Just seen this whilst googling. Looks like this will be the last year of this design. I hope these aren’t the colour pallet/style they are hoping for.

edited to ask if anyone on here is up for the challenge?

I’ve now got £250 to spend in Liberty & no idea what to buy as I’m definitely not getting the Calendar. I may go there one day and see if anything looks good. The emails go to junk, mos I’ve misses the extra 20% offer they sent yesterday 😔

Maybe wait until the mens calendar comes out? Quite a few people bought that one last year as they felt it was better then the women's version.

IlovePond · 07/07/2026 21:05

@Kitchendilemas - I am in the same position, so I am waiting - without much hope - to see what the men’s calendar is like.

I genuinely don’t know what I would ever want to buy from Liberty apart from the calendar. I would never be able to bring myself to buy the kind of beauty products they sell, even with a 20% discount. It’s not a shop I ever buy from - buying last year’s calendar and joining the BD were moments of madness!

Having said that, maybe there will be a wonderful summer edit with GWP that I could use as a calendar instead 🤷‍♀️

If I thought the 2027 calendar would be any better, I would save my BD until next year. However, bitter experience has taught me that the quality of goods usually gets worse, not better, with the passage of time, so that’s probably not a good idea 😹

TreesinthePark · 08/07/2026 07:06

The reaction here to Liberty has helped me slow down and have a proper think about it rather than buying on auto-pilot to use my credit.

I'm still going to do my spreadsheet for my AC analysis I mentioned previously when I get time. But looking again at Liberty, I need a 7th category for "Already own but haven't opened yet".
The one product there that stands out as "new to me and exciting" is the Sisley essence - I've loved everything I've tried from them.
Overall it's disappointing and most likely a no from me. There can't be anyone in this beauty community that Liberty serves still waiting to try Molecule 01 or GA hand cream!

I am a little excited at the idea of getting it discounted if it doesn't sell well though 😉

Was there a 20% off email from Liberty? I didn’t get that one.

I purchased the Scent with Love and the Well Travelled kits last August, and they were both great kits. I think they came with a GWP, but that isn't showing on my order record.

I'm in the same boat re: the Liberty BAC, it doesn't appeal this year so I'm holding out for the August edits 🤞

I remember the well travelled kit, I wish I’d bought that. I bought the glam kit in October which I loved. I was disappointed with last years advent compared to 2024 ( my first one) mostly because of the perfumes. In this years advent, I like the sound of the broth, the Sisley, and the eye cream as well as the bag! but not a whole lot else. I’m veering between buying a gorgeous silk dress which is heavily reduced ( but I have no occasion to wear it!), buying the calendar and selling stuff ( but can’t really be bothered) and keeping the money for edits and possibly next years calendar!

IlovePond · 08/07/2026 10:29

I’m vaguely surprised by Liberty - there were widespread complaints about the faulty/clumpy Jones Road mascara - yet they decided to put in another JR - looks pretty awful - product in for this year.

Ditto the GA hand cream - loads of people
thought theirs was ‘off’ in the recent BD and I assume some complained - and yet here it is - AGAIN - in the calendar, which is meant to be their flagship product of the year!

I also can’t move past that £3 lotion they have shoved into one drawer. That’s the sort of product that would be too cheap for a GB calendar, (no shade to GB- I thought their a/c was great last year!)

The whole thing smacks of arrogance and an attitude that says, ‘Our customers will buy anything as long as it’s in a pretty box and at a high price!’

I do know that it is quite possible I am spending far too much time thinking about this 😹

IlovePond · 08/07/2026 10:35

Tbf, for lovers of ‘niche’ perfume, Liberty probably looks excellent!

Given I was selling stuff I didn’t want from the Liberty a/c for £5-10 last year, (and still couldn’t shift some of it), I am definitely NOT in the ‘buy it anyway and sell what I don’t want and come out ahead’ league. I admire people who successfully sell products at good prices, but I never manage to do it!

Primrosespaw · 08/07/2026 14:56

I’m really happy with the Liberty calendars both last year and this. Maybe it’s because I’m new to BACs. I buy a lot of the kits, get both perfumes from
Dyptique and Vilelm from liberty and tend to buy homeware and fabric in the sales as well as bits of jewellery. I think that makes the beauty drop work and knowing well that I like niche perfumes compared to Chanel and all the stuff you can buy at boots. Looking forward to Dec 1st.

Growlybear83 · 08/07/2026 15:16

@JoRaRaRaI was one of the people who wished I’d waited for the men’s Liberty calendar last year - it woukd have suited me much better that the main one that I bought. Plus I much preferred the box from the men’s calendar. The women’s box has been more or less thw same for the three years thar Ive bought it now, and it’s a shame they’ve not changed it a bit.

My Harrods scent bag arrived today, and Im really pleased with all of them except the Saffron, which smells like TCP on me 😆. I really love the Ex Nihilo Lust in Paradise, and I think it’s one of my new favourites.

ClutteredPalace · 08/07/2026 15:35

Looking back at the old threads, I know a lot of people weren't impressed with the Glamour advent calendar last year, but I got that for Jadvent when it was reduced and really enjoyed opening it. It helps that I'm new to the world of Beauty calendars and edits in general so haven't tried much before. The jewellery included was a lot nicer in real life than it looked too. I probably got more day to day use out of the things in that than I did with the Liberty calendar so I'm interested to see if they do another one this year.

IlovePond · 08/07/2026 16:07

@ClutteredPalace - GlossyBox was the one that ‘got away’ from me last year - oh, and the LF fragrance calendar, (I dithered and lost out!) In 2024 it was SNK, (which did NOT appeal to me at all last year, sadly).

When do we think Liberty will reveal the contents of the men’s calendar?

I have no problem accepting a few DOD to swap out in a calendar, but I think I would be swapping out virtually the whole calendar if I were to stick with the women’s version.
