Young male cyclists seem to have a uniform of head-to-toe black, along with head and face covering, whatever the weather. Oof! (Plus haven't they heard of high-vis? Especially when they are weaving in and out of the traffic!)

No cyclists are wearing face coverings in n the summer. Some might wear a buff in winter. And black is more popular for winter rides as it warms up quickly even in weak sunlight. Most cycling kit is not black and it usually incorporates high visibility and reflective elements that you might not notice but do actually work very well.

What are you talking about? I see them here all the time, and it is summer. I don't mean MAMILS, I mean teenagers and young men with no sense of self-preservation; they are not wearing cycling kit, they are wearing random black clothing, and yes, black face coverings (no helmet, they have a balaclava or something instead). Oh, and I'll include Deliveroo cyclists in that.

mondaytosunday · 31/05/2026 11:30

Skinny jeans on men. No later how fit the men are it looks awful.

Practically anything white British men wear when it’s hot!

On a thread full of nasty comments, you've excelled yourself with this stand out, that apparently the mumsnet mods don't think is racist. So from this brown woman, married to a perfectly lovely in his shorts white, British man, I think you are talking out of your arse.

Thank you. I really found these comments very offensive. Why the need for nasty stereotypes based on ethnicity?

They always get away with being controversial. I've noticed them on lots of threads. Sad individual imo.

Long flowery dresses with trainers.

Sorry, I disagree. My feet have been so battered by operations etc, that sandals, on the whole, are simply uncomfortable. I almost cheered when trainers with dresses came into fashion! I love wearing dresses, but the kind of sandals that are comfortable just make me look frumpy and old.
Please just let me have my (all too rare) fashionable moment! 😂

Yes. Plus if someone posts something controversial, other posters are going to respond.

Thus ruining the original thread, but that's right - you do you

Maybe start a new one stating no racism or body shaming?

I wear flip flops everywhere apart from work and at the gym in summer.

Me too. I unapologetically live in Flip Flops from June through to September.

Ah ok. We don’t get that here. Only sports/recreational cyclists and mountain bikers.

truffleruffle · 31/05/2026 16:14

Enjoy I love trainers with dresses too. My friend visited from USA and said she would never wear trainers with a dress.

Lucky you, they are a menace on the roads - I nearly hit one the other day as I was signalling to pull in to the left and he sped through on the inside of me. (I'm definitely not anti-cyclist, but I think everyone needs to take some responsibility for their own safety.)

I think it was supposed to be some much needed light relief perhaps. A bit of fun.

People wearing flesh coloured Lycra two piece outfits that make them look naked. They’re always 16 sizes too small……MY EYES……

thedyslexicmothership · 01/06/2026 08:59

Anything flesh coloured, too small, or that looks spray painted on. I really don't need to see what someone had for breakfast...
I saw a wonderful sign in a park in Amsterdam once, that said "Dress For the Body You Have, Not The Body You Want.

xogossipgirlxo · 01/06/2026 10:57

Gym outfits, men going topless and shorts showing buttocks.

OhThePotential · 01/06/2026 12:28

Northermcharn · 25/05/2026 16:16

West London uniform!

I think it looks nice, especially with tanned legs. Dated, I’ll give you that, but still lovely.

Like others, topless men, bonus minus points if they’re also wearing sports socks and pool sliders.

I’m not fond of vests on women, with or without visible bra straps.

Agree! Especially in summer when you know they’re all hot and sweaty. Gross!! Add in flip flops with manky man feet and you’re really disturbing me! 🤢
