Hello everyone, well it's officially summer.

This is about feeling better about yourself and looking and feeling better etc. But mainly we chat and laugh quite a lot, which has all got to help towards happiness etc.

The rules (anyone can join):

  • Sunscreen at all times - REALLY mean this now summer is here.
  • No or little booze. Wine or Champagne or whatever at the weekend is allowed if you want it
  • Walking is important, a small amount every day if possible. 30 mins if you can
  • Lots of water, aim for 2 litres a day
  • Apply body cream as often as possible
  • Use hand cream
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if pos
  • Eat healthily
  • Be happy

The idea is that we all feel happier, healthier and glow with the good food, sleep, exercise, water and lack of sun damage.

Some people are doing India and Neris's Idiot Proof Diet (Atkins, more or less), others are doing Slimy World, others are just being as healthy as possible.

Welcome everyone, have a good week.

Morning all
thanks for filling us in about the bull! And lol at people not wanting it shot even though it had escaped the abbatoir.

Went to bed at 9.30 last night hence woke at 5.30 but feel surprisingly ok, thank goodness we stopped at one bottle (and a large glass worth of leftover Champagne in fridge) and that I woke in the night and drank water. And I'm working at home tomorrow. And thank ftff it's Friday tomorrow.

Just very quickly dropping in to share a poster I saw today for some event or other. The main speaker was billed as "The Steve Irwin of Spiritualism".

I cannot possibly imagine what that could mean but it did make me laugh for quite some time.

Will be back later. Although I had chips for lunch so maybe not.

suzywong · 26/06/2008 07:50

here you go, WWW, this will make you laugh

today was my day to re-introduce oats. I was nervous, I approached them with trepidation.
I had an eighth of a cup of porridge with cream and berries and I felt slightly soiled.

Did I mention I lost a stone and a pound already????????

good re: DAB marina, you can never have enough!

if anyone's interested, there's a phone in on radio 4 today re: losing weight...at 3pm

bamamama · 26/06/2008 10:55

WWW - at ds - I hope you're feeling ok after your well deserved bucketful glass of wine.

anniemac - so sorry to hear about your gyane appointment. I really hope you get the outcome you want. There does seem to be a lot of IVFing MNers about. I'm sure there will be support for you.

Ureb - I'm sure I read something ages ago about laser eye stuff and reduced night vision which can effect whether or not you keep your driving license. I only remember this because I have rubbish night vision and drive like an old lady after sun down.
And lol at the bull. We once had an abattoir escapee running down the high street, it was a bit like finding yourself in one of those 'quirky' films about small town Britain. I half expected John Gordon Sinclair to be chasing it in white wellies.

T/shell - hope you're having a better day.

Marina - the phrase "and Bruce here is charge of logical positivism" has been making me laugh all day (when I wasn't laughing at Urwinesque spiritualists). They are a batty lovely lot, the philosophers. One guy we knew a few years back rated the flags of the world in purely aesthetic terms on his homepage. He had to take down his site when he got loads of death threats from Americans as he hadn't said theirs was purdy enough

Batters - hope your cough clears up sharpish.

Well, not the worst of days for me but I know dh is bringing a bottle wine home so could do better. The family bama is supposed to be going away for the weekend but we haven't actually booked anything yet so I suspect this evening will be spent trawling the internet looking for something that is both available and not spider/snake infested.

Almost the weekend...

WideWebWitch · 26/06/2008 11:04

Hello all. lol Suzy, yes, I would feel enormous guilt if I ate a previously banned food I think. I have so got it into my head that I don't eat carbs.

Thanks for all the sympathy re ds. It was all about 11+ tests again but he has gone to an event at the grammar school today (thank GOODNESS I am working from home as didn't know it was today, got the letter back in May, read it as May, assumed we'd missed it as we were out that day. The reminder received last night said he HAD to be dropped and collected by a parent today so when I walked in last night DH was also stressed at the thought of having to take a completely unplanned day off. Feel very relieved that luckily I am at home and a bit silly for misreading the date on the letter - I try so hard to be organised wrt school things.) I am so so hoping it makes him want to go there and therefore work hard and stop fighting with us about doing the 10 minute tests, tis v wearing. I got lots of I hate yous and stuff last night too.

I ate LOADS of chorizo and cheese when I was necking my wine last night so bet I haven't lost any weight this week. Have decided not to weigh this Sat as will be too depressing and not te week after as will be totm so next weigh in is going to be 11th July, which is morning of day dh and I have 2 blissful days off in a hotel on our own. I can't wait.

DH and I lay in bed this morning talking about practicalities and I had a feeling of "oh god, life is just tedium after tedium after chore after boring fucking chore non stop glamour."

Had 2 sausage and egg muffins for breakfast shoved down hastily amidst loading dishwasher, making breakfast for everyone else, finding my shoes, sellotaping a 'torch' thing from a book for dd, chivvying everyone out of the house AND I remembered sunscreen.

Haven't read anything, sorry - dh is telling me to get up to bed, which I will very soon, but just to say I am home,I survived and I have the perkiest 30E norks and I am so so very happy. I never realised how awful they were before and am still in quite an emotional state about being back to "normal". Will read and post more later.

Marina · 26/06/2008 13:21

Just dashing through to check on Norks Pru. Glad you're OK. Do we get before and after pictures? Clothed of course; I don't wish to see you in a state of undress.

eemie · 26/06/2008 19:30

Evening booters

Haven't done specially well but did drive a sod of a long way (and back) for work. On road by 6.45, back by 1845, all but four hours of that behind the wheel. Used to be (literally) phobic about driving, so that's something.

So no exercise and not especially healthy eating but lots of water and weak tea, sunscreen, success on work front, and safe journey.

Choir tonight which is going to be good fun - it's the relax and enjoy the jokes choir, rather than the musically accomplished but bloody hard work choir.

Excuse swearing. Didn't swear at a white van man all day so have to catch up .

Cammelia · 26/06/2008 19:51

Wow Pru, you seem very perky (in every sense!)after your op.

Hope you're soon up and about properly.

Today I bought some amazing heels to wear to a ball on Saturday. i know they'll kill me after a few hours but it'll be worth it.

Swam a little today, still don't have enough time for lots of exercise which is what I really need.

Prufrock · 26/06/2008 20:11

Goodness me twink -long time no see!

eemie -at risk of seeming breast obsessed (but I figure I'm alowed to be at the moment) it is amazing how much difference a decent fitted bra can make. Obviously not as much difference s a 3 hour op....
Well done suzy, but sorry - still can't countenance a life without pasta.
Duch is archie really a month old already!
Weekends are my downfall too batters - I feel like I have to reward myself for my virtuosness during the week.
Happy birthday to marinaboy for yesterday. Think positively, only a few more weeks of vile teacher to go, and marinagirl will never have to have her.
And happy birthday to bundlegirl.

Prufrock · 26/06/2008 20:15

www - would you like me to give you some tips on ignoring bundles superior scientific knowledge? She's been telling me for years that homeopathy doesn't work but my surgeon was very impressed with my lack of bruising so far - all down to bellis and hypericum.

Annie - wheatgrass is horrid, but can be chucked back quickly liek a medicine, with a nice juice to folow. don't try to mix it in with something nice tasting, it will spoil the whole thing.

Pictures -hmmmm. Surgeon did take some before ones, and presumably will take afters, but I'm not sure I'll be posting them - I knwo too many people on here!

Bootcamping has been OK, in that I've been eating decent food, but hav put on 5lb since Tuesday - probably due to erm - digestiv issues. Only actually lost 250g from each breast.

WideWebWitch · 26/06/2008 21:15

Thanks Pru!

Oh, www, your dd can't possibly need a schooliform!

Crap day today bootcamp wise - have been lugging chicken houses around Bristol, hoping not to meet police men with the car boot tied shut....so have eating crap I'm afraid. DofNB - dh is going to build a superduper run on it, and then I'm just going to put 2 new chickens in it with Dopey, and see if he notices the extra one! I can't decide between a bluebelle and a white star, so will get both!
